The center audience has Augment Reality glasses to overlay the computer generated images. The people on the sides have large screens showing the video as you are seeing it. You could not see the KDA characters normally. However in the 2019 ceremony, they use a different tech that does allow the special effects to be visible to all.
That's actually amazing!
And then 2020 came, and it was a disaster D:

What really tripped me up is when someone in a reaction video pointed out that the AR is perfectly reflected on the stage the entire time too. I didn't notice that initially.

gotta point it out. check under the characters. riot gave them 'shadows'. thats the level of detail im proud of for their opening ceremonies

There was more to this opening ceremony. Though, the live Rise segment suffered from microphone issues.
That is the power of augmented reality at least that’s how I think they did it
Worry not, I was confused at first too but people who watched in that ceremony actually didn't see what we see at home. It's Augmented Reality(AR) so they kinda used camera angles and leave the middle space for the actual KDA group along with their counterparts on the sides, they all dancing in unison or so it seems. You can look up the kda pop stars with just cameras or at least one side is but the True Damage one, they used Holonets or Hologram nets so everyone is seeing it
The floating one is Ahri who is a ninetail fox girl. Also, if you look behind them you can see a huge screen showing the actual music video for the song, which was originally made for the fake version of them to be in.
And this is just a part of the entire opening ceremony.

The animated characters of KDA is being shown in real life so the audience can see them too. Which makes it a perfect experience for the audience!
No. Actually the live audience can't see the cgi characters unless they look at the giants screens. In the 2019 live perfomance they managed to fix this using holoscreens.

Actually THIS performance is only seen on screens on the side of the arena - this is the only way audience live could see it. 2019 tho... thats other story

nice video. You had to react to the entire Opening Ceremony (POP/STARS + Rise). Atleast watch the full 2019 Ceremony instead of only watching the GIANTS part :)

Every time a reactor try to make eye contact with me... when he/she has not paused the video, I can’t help but getting so aggravated. Especially when he/she misses a good moment. It’s worse when the missed moment is literally my favorite part of the whole video he/she’s reacting to.
I’m like, “why are u wasting ur time looking towards me and getting distracted, while what i just randomly clicked to watch you react to is still playing? I’m literally watching to see and enjoy ur reaction to it. Pretend I’m not there. At least when the video is still playing.”
