The first take about the bad infrastructure was reasonable, but his response to the smart city topic was atrocious and shows just how dumb he knows his audience is.
Damn, I knew Hasan was an expert on economics, but I had no idea he was also a land-management specialist and a botanist. A man of many talents.
It was an electrical fire because the power company stopped taking care of power lines, because all the money went towards green energy. And the fire hydrants had no water, and the person in charge of water allocation refused to divert water to fire fighting. They wouldn't even sound the fire siren. The Hawaiian govt let the fire happen.
The chief of police who is also the coroner was only appointed a year ago and is the same guy that oversaw a mass shooting before that in another state

As a firefighter who has fought a lot of grass fires, they do weird things. We had one that burned from a burn pile, surrounded the guys house burned down the house, but went completely around a semi truck sitting in his yard and left it on a perfectly unburned island of grass. So the guy saying, “weird some stuff is trashed and other untouched” doesn’t mean it was targeted explosions or whatever.

@@kaladincatblessed_ A variety of factors. That’s why grassfires and brush fires are some of the most dangerous fires to fight. They are so unpredictable. Weather conditions, humidity, temperature outside. A grass fire may be heading one way, but if the wind changes directions back and forth it could cause it to change direction and head the opposite way. If flames are high enough and intense enough it can even create its own winds outside of the natural wind blowing.
It’s hard to say what caused the Maui fires but the most common starts of grass fires are cigarette butts, a chain from a trailer hitting the concrete and causing sparks, a car running parked in the grass, a lawn mower, it could have been anything.
The real crime is the response that was given toward it. It was not jumped on quick enough and was allowed to burn out of control. That could be the conspiracy or it could be what it is s lot of the times, pure good old American incompetence.

I think the only thing that Hasan has ever said that's correct is that forest management is important, but no one really does it. Forest management is a tool that can be used to great effect to slow and potentially control the spread of fires. You can do controlled fires to pre-burn areas at high risk or to create a barrier for a spreading fire. You can clear dead brush and trees (no one does this lmao, it's a lot of work for little reward in most cases). You can use fireproof/fire resistant landscaping to create a buffer space around buildings as well.
Other than that, Hasan is really stupid and I'm getting brain rot from his idiotic words. It's sad that he didn't even elaborate on the value of forest management, which does have merit behind it. His weird speech just went off into the weeds. Which then burned in the wildfire.
That one I did agree with because here in California, not clearing the vegetation around the power lines has caused fires (thanks to greenie weenie dumbass land protection regulations)

houses are a lot easier to burn down than trees because they have less water in them so they'll catch up in flames more easily. people to make firewood drie it out for months on end to make sure it goes up in flames easily and what do u think house have a lot of, firewood or dried out wood which is very flammable and easily be caught in a flame so it makes sense that the fires in Maui can burn down all these homes but not really harm the trees and a lot of the trees were burned

If you’re into true crime, I suggest looking into the case of Chandler Halderson. He basically murdered his parents and tried to destroy the evidence by burning them in a fireplace (yes, extremely morbid). When police investigated, they still were able to identify bone fragments.

I'm not a "plantologist" or biologist or anything. But I took some ecology classes in undergrad and in grad school I researched the ecology of Kaho‘olawe in Maui County for my thesis. Just want to say that trees and humans are classified as different biological kingdoms due to physical and biological differences. A physical difference is human bodies burn at lower temperatures than wood. However, fire temps in Maui were much higher than what was needed to burn either. Humans are insulated with muscle and body fat which helps with escaping fires using mobility but human insulation is not good for surviving fires. Some desert plants have evolved to store water in order to survive dry and hot conditions. A good example of trees that have evolved in order to survive in wildfire conditions are sequioa trees. The size of the trees, the height of their branches, their large width and surface area, density and spongy bark helps the trees survive when they can't run away like people can. Returning to Maui, only one kind of palm tree is native to Hawaii. When compared to other plants, some palm trees are more fire resistant, while others are at higher risk for rapidly spreading wildfire. I hope this helps people understand why the fire was so devastating not just for the property damage but also for the loss of both non-human and human life. I don't know whether the fire was intentionally set or not and I have no interest in conspiracy nor speculation. I hope people are able to donate relief efforts. Aloha.
