Very helpful video as always! How often needs the pump proconnect to be replaced? and how do I know if the pump is needs replacing ? my 390 pump just started to slow down after a year spraying every week, and wondering if this is why or something else. Thanks a lot
Thanks. Ha mine was like 7 years. Usually if you hear it struggling with pressure, paint leaking out the piston. Mine was making some loud noises and i knew it wasnt runninv right. Maybe you just need to give it a good clean through
@@sprayaholic oh 7 yeeeeaaars?! Wow okay, yes it’s struggling with pressure but no loud noise or anything, I will check the valve as you shown in the video, probably cleaning would solve it. Thanks a lot for the reply, made me a bit more confident that I don’t have to spend that much for a new pump.
@@sprayaholic the packing kit you using in the video, that one is not expensive at all, but the ProConnect pump is a bit more than 300 so if I would have to change that every year that would add up for sure. So that’s why I am hoping it’s not full pump replacement
Quick question for you mate. My 390 is only about 6 months old, but sometimes when mid spray it'll start screaming like it's priming and the pressure will drop and stop spraying. It always primes no problem though. I've had the suction hose off and cleaned out the bottom bearing, but it keeps screaming away when spraying. It also won't build pressure sometimes and does all that madness as soon as I flick to spray mode and try and creep the pressure up. When I say screaming, it makes the noise you get when you're out of paint 😂 I'm hoping the top bearing needs a poke to free it up, which I'll do tomorrow, but just wondering if you've encountered anything like it?
hey yes it can often be that ball in the piston. if its stuck open or shut it wont work properly and will act how youve mentioned. did you get it sorted?
@@sprayaholic nah, not really mate. Both balls are clean and free. The bottom ball is absolutely spotless and I had a poke around the top one and it seems good from what I can see. I used it for priming woodwork and started ok as on low pressure, but right at the end it made the sound like I was out of material. When I was flicking from prime to spray when cleaning the gun and line, I bumped the pressure from zero and it just sticks on zero and screams like it's in prime mode. I've hunted high and low and can't find any post anywhere describing what's happening. Maybe it needs repacking.....I have hammered it a bit on mist coats, but always flush it clean and use pump armour when not in use. If it happens again I'll try and film it and post it up on my page so you can see what I mean and maybe have a better idea.
@Badlefthook yes could need re packing. Could it actually be flicking into prime? Have you checked to see if material comes out wjen it makes the priming noise?
@@sprayaholic no material comes out of the prime tube when it does it. It just seems to drop pressure and stop spraying exactly like when you run out of material and the needle on the guage sort of flickers around 1500 psi I think, possibly whatever psi I was on, but it doesn't drop to zero on the guage. Then I turn it down, flick it to prime as if starting again, that's all good, primes up fine, but sometimes when I then flick to spray straight after, the slightest turn on the knob and it'll stick at zero and scream away like it's priming. Other times I can get back up to about 1500 and it'll stick there and go back to the priming sound and can't budge it. I read something about the transducer, but all a bit vague out there with my problems. All the packing problems, balls and what not all seem related to priming and I never have any trouble with that. It's a head scratcher and I can't live without my machine for too long.
Has the plug been removed and altered? Have you tried using it with an extension lead? Could be the circuit board issue ive seen a few people have this problem.
Nice job with the spanner hack
Ha cheers bud. Thinking outside the box
Great info, looking forward to the Graco gun video if you get it up this weekend
Cheers. Yes hopefully have it up tomorrow, if not Monday
Do you know the kit number for the 190lts?.Thanks in advance for your response.

Id say a couple of years you should get out of them.

@@rnarno i dont think those quick change pumps are too expensive. Have a look at the ball bearinh in your suction pipe. If its dirty etc.
