This is one of the most concise, easy to understand tutorials on Revit I've ever experienced. Just the right speed; easy to understand your voice; everything I need to do what I have to do. Thank you so much!!
Hi Cindy, Thank you very much for creating this video. It provides valuable modeling information. You do a remarkable job of explaining the detail aspect of the modeling processes.
Hi Cindy thanks so much for making this video! it's people like you making these contributions that really help beginners like me who would otherwise be clueless, much appreciated :)
Excellent! I didn't know I could do real drafting in Revit until I watched this. I didn't even know how to change my default "Units." Funny how being a seasoned AutoCAD user for decades does not help much for working in Revit.
Cindy... your instructions are very helpful.. Im a brand new revit user, self learning. how can I find out how to extrude a like your first example, but set an an angle... not horizontal or vertical. can you direct me to a solution?
You cannot extrude at an angle. You could do a sweep - have a shape follow a line you draw. Or you can do a blend - for example you can place a square at the base and a square for the top two feet apart and they would blend at an angle - hope that helps. - good luck!
I want to place a special fascia onto a roof edge. I have created a sweep (thank you very much) but I can't figure out how to apply it to the edge, It seems like it should go in as a fascia, but I can't seem to make a 'fascia' model, just a generic model. or I should??????
You could use the point cloud to create a mass and then apply a surface to the mass - a material with some thickness. This is the only way you can create forms that have any kind of Helix properties - like a water slide would. - So using a Mass Family
Been trying to create a 3/4 radius the follows path of rectangular sink with 3/4 radius corners but my revit will not make it. I tried creating a profile.
if the path has 3/4 radius and 3/4 corners Revit thinks the sweep will run into itself so it will not make it - if you try making the corners larger it will work
I'm coppy from www.Autodesk revit website can u show video how to do = " Cutting with voids in families when loaded " You can cut objects in a project when a family with unattached voids is loaded. Objects that can be cut include: Walls, Floors, Roofs, Ceilings, and Structural Framing, Structural Columns, Structural Foundations, and Generic Models. To enable this, open the Revit family with unattached voids and click Create tab Properties panel Family Category and Parameters. In the Family Category and Parameters dialog Select Cut With Voids when Loaded and click OK. Load the family into the project and place it. Click Modify tabGeometry panelCut drop-down (Cut Geometry). Select the object to be cut. Select the instance with which to cut. Note: If the instance has several unattached voids, all of them will participate in cutting.
souki kmnv I sent you a screen shot in google hang out of what you need to change in the family for it to void in the project. Just create a swept blend void or whatever kind of void you want to create, under the family parameters - click on the "cuts with voids" load into the project and place the component like normal then on the modify panel select "cut" click on the thing you want to cut and then the void you want to cut with. I will try to make a video - but hopefully this helps in the meantime.
+Shardul Patil Your version of Revit comes with all of the family template files - this is usually found in program data\autodesk\ (whatever version of revit you have)\family templates

Excellent tutorial. I consider myself an experienced user and I learned a few things from this. Thank you.
Great Video Cindy, Simple and Succinct. Loved it. Looking forward for more.

Very nice video!!!, thanks for being very thorough, yet brief with each of these methods, now to model a car!
Excellent presentation. Really!
Super cindy................... Thank you so much.......

Wonderful way of explaining
very useful video . good quality video and audio and sure u help in future also like this
Wow! I wish i'd found this video first. you rock
Thanks for the video. I can’t figure out why my revolve item comes in the drawing at an angle I don’t want. Then I can rotate it the way I need.
You should create it in the direction you want - so if the item is upright, when creating it, use an elevation view (front, back etc.)
Thanks, in plain straight forward English, love it ;-)
that's what i really wanted to know, thank you so much.
you're welcome!
Contudo agradeço a iniciativa e bons vídeos

Can you use a wall sweep and create a profile and you would use to sweep along the edge?
yeahh!!! thank you so much for your explaination!!!
great video lady.....
can you cut a swept blend with a curved line?
Nice video thanks
How about a water slide at a water fun park.......possible to do this from a point cloud and then use your methods?

THANKS ILL GIVE IT A GO
This was very helpful. Thanks!
AWESOME VIDEO. THANKS AND I AM KEEN TO LEARN ABOUT PARAMETRIC FAMLIES.
Awesome tutorial :)
Thank you Cindy
TQ FOR YOUR TUTORIAL VIDEO VERY USEFULL FOR ME
Cindy would you explain how could I do that without saving the shape in rotate tool. I tried though but failed.

thank you. very informative clear explanations. greate.
Brilliant!
Thank you so much. But I want this work in default file insted of in family
Great tutorial, Thanks!
Is it possible to modify the sweep path once created?
Yes - just select the sweep and redraw whichever item you need to change - you can even stretch the path in place if you just need to go a bit longer
Thank you Cindy, this was usefull !
*I don't even know how to get to that menu that shows the Sweep icon.*
in structure steel connection the connector is very limited . do you know how to created connector or to get anywhere by download the connector
Thank Yiu
Thanks for video.
Thank you!
thank you cindy, this was usefull !
Thanku
hi cindy nice video, can u plz creat a building using massing and blend command
Thanks for the video. Please where can I download the family templates?
They are installed with revit, if they are not there when you go to new family, you should reinstall revit
thanks Cindy God Bless : )
is it possible to create both shapes at the same time and revolve?
Arsalan Bashir you can create more than one shape and revolve it at the same time
Thanks Friend......
thank you so much...
thanks but where is the sweep example ??
