  • It's a family affair near Creston, Illinois with son Jeff operating the combine while his mom, Cheryl drives a Case IH Steiger 350 tractor pulling a Kinze 1100 grain cart. Father Dave drives the grain truck from the field to the nearby elevator. Up front of the combine is a Case IH 3208 header.
    Back in May of this year I videoed the Johnsons planting this field. • Johnson Family Farming... So I was happy to be able video that eventual crop.
    The unloading operation to the truck is here: • Johnson Family Farms -...

    Great video again Bill. Footage from 2:55 with maize going down, buildings in background etc is just great photography.
    Keep them coming. Off to watch the planting.

    Any input as to how much the corn crop was yielding? It's always interesting to know. The crop looks very good!

    I'm curious: If a former farm kid who lives in Suburbia wanted to volunteer to work on a farm like that, doing tasks like driving a combine, how receptive would the farmer be?

      Jamie Smith well it all depends on the farmer I would work with the farmer for a while and build up trust and maybe he would let you run the combine or grain cart

    Does the machine do a good job of handling the 8 row or is that too much for it?

      Not bad at all with the 240hp it has i would think is like a 1680 or in between a 1680 and 1688!! Plenty of power really nice machine!!

    • @flywayne9362
      @flywayne9362 9 років тому

      ANDREW MILLER that made absolutley no sense at all....lol all i am saying is send your auger aout to unload, retract it when done. thats all.

      ANDREW MILLER wow......so what you are saying basically is you have no idea what is going on....but hey, im not paying the bills on that combine. However i pay the ones on mine, and my guys know what is going on..

      Thanks. I believe that they farm about 1,200 total acres in several different locations.

    u should buy a bigger combine sense u got a big tractor and grain cart

      if they did that they would be on their toes and would need to buy another cart and more semis the reason they have that big of grain cart must be because the semi driver is gone so they need a bigger grain cart to keep up with the combine
