    The spring for the door handle and window winder go inside the door card! As for the rest: Great work and detailed instructions!

      @@w147ik thank you! You are correct about the spring. This is an old video. I did not have much experience at the time. I do this for a living now and even though I still make mistakes I have a better knowledge of what goes where and how things work :)

    Thanks a lot, Elin. This video (actually all your videos) is really helpful. I have done my carpets now as well and would have probably messed it up without your guidance. Well now, I have to start on video No. 1, as there is so much more to learn from you. Thanks again!

    Hi Elin
    Watching your TR6 interior install with great interest as I have been down the same path with several Triumph restorations over the years. One omission I noticed that may help you is that there is supposed to be a screw with a special star like washer which accepts a color coded finishing cap on the front upper corner of the door map pocket. I think the idea is to relieve any stress from the door pocket and prevent the vinyl/leather from tearing from continued use at that point. Not nitpicking, your work is excellent and I admire your enthusiasm for these cars. Just some friendly advice from a fellow enthusiast.
    Cheers

      @RustyBeauties  6 років тому +1

      Yeah, I know what you are talking about and I have those caps, but I really dislike them :) The front of the pocket actually goes through the doorcard and it is stapled at the back really firm. I am sure it will hold better. But thanks, anyway!

    Hey there! Just saw the 1ST Annual British Car Show on RBs. Hilarious!!!!! If I can find venue do I get free beer?? I noted a lack of security.........you should look into that, crowd control is an important feature of successful show.
    As always thanks for taking the time and effort to vid and share. Great big ATTA BOY!! Appreciate much your "no compromises" attitude to restoration.

    The plastic on the doors is used to keep the inner panels dry. To avoid to get them wet when you roll down the windows, or if the seals on the door don't hold well.

  • @1chish
    @1chish 6 років тому +3

    Elin - @14:50 that plastic door liner was called a 'membrane' and was to protect the door trim from water falling inside the door. The bottom was not glued as you have otherwise the water falls between the membrane and door and then migrates out to the door trim panel.
    Can I suggest you cut it a bit longer and then drape the bottom edge round the door metal pressing (it can be quite long) and inside the door metal?

    Ahhh,,,nice trick for installing the pin on the cranks,,,,,,I made new pannels for my tr6. I called it all kinds of names trying to get those little pins to slide in

    Isn’t the metallic part suppose to be facing below and outwards ? For less heat and sound ?

    Wasn't the factory carpet snapped in. I seem to remember that in my 71. Your install looks great.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 років тому

      Not sure, but glue works great for me. It keeps it in place and not that hard to remove if I have to.

  • @andyday3571
    @andyday3571 Рік тому

    Why didn't you use velcro back piece for where you got that tang leather at the back or use poppers because it will look long better screws to hold the back panelling

    Nice work, but the big plug is there for a reason - to drain water if the car is accidentally left out in the rain (and yes, ask me now I know...)

    hey elin - how did you line up the screw holes for the wheel arch panels? My panels didn't come with any dimples or anything - hard to line up and my car didn't come with the old panels.

    • @RustyBeauties

      Actually this glue is not that bad. It is supposedly waterbased... It has a smell, but not much than a rattle can of paint

    Love watching you do this. Even better than your Spitfire. :) But, you didn't leave a way to service the transmission from inside the cabin. Intentional?

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 років тому +1

      Well. I hope I don't need to do that, but it takes half an hour to pull out the seats, the dash support and the transmission cover. I've done that on the Spitfire many times already :)

    Hi Elin. The TR6 looks great. Love that blue with a saddle interior. I'm doing this same job currently on my red TR4, but not nearly as well. 2 ?s - how come no carpet padding and doesn't the shifter boot on these only mount on the dash support? Thanks again for all the great content!

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 років тому

      The padding was installed in the factory as insulation mostly. Since I have the sound deadening I'd rather avoid the padding as it only creates troubles and stinks.

    Hi Elin, thanks so much for your Videos, very helpful for my restoration project (TR 250). Question: can you let me know the manufacturer of the sound deadening kit you are showing at the beginning of the video. Is this kit made/cut already for the TR6 and where have you ordered it from? Thanks!

    Hi Elin, the glue that you are using here- does it really smell? I ask because recently I had a small shop rebuild my door card on my Alfa with plastic backing instead of the pressboard, and it still smells horrible. Like pee and something toxic LOL. It's more yellow than the stuff that you are spraying, though...I'm hoping that it outgasses more and stops smelling before top-up weather.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  6 років тому

      It smells a little while spraying it, but that's about it. Once dry it is odorless. I am not sure what they used on your door card, but I hope it will disappear soon.

    Ohh Dear!.. I was enjoying this until I forget this,, I forget that I will just do this, I will just do that.. To be a concourse car it has to be correct, not "ohh that will do". such a pity at these final stages to basically devalue the whole project... Not a very great advertisement for the Integrity of your craftmanship.

    • @RustyBeauties
      @RustyBeauties  Рік тому

      I know what you mean, but that wasn't my car and wasn't my call to what extend I can spend time on it. It used to be a "partnership" car with my boss, but he made all decisions and unfortunately he was stupid enough to spend money on extra fenders or.... painting the car twice.... but when it came to little details he was so cheap that we cut many corners.... Anyway, I pulled out of this project and still finished it, but as someone else's car without trying to convince them that cutting corers is not a great idea. That was years ago. If you watch my 1972 GT6 videos for example, you can see how I work when I make my own decisions.
