I applaud the efforts by UK Pro League in providing playing opportunities for British tennis players - particularly when Covid had so drastically reduced them last year. Not just Emma and Harriet but also Jody Burrage (and of course they continue to do so with fresh face this yearthis year). Take a well-deserved bow for your contribution to Emma (and Harriet's Doubles success) in 2001.

It is very interesting to see these old games. (I had no idea there is such a thing as UK Pro League; of course I have only discovered that there is as a result of Emma's recent triumph.)
One thing I like about these videos is the insightful commentary.
The names of the commentators should be in the description! It is a pity too that their post-match reflections at the end were cut off. I doubt I am the only one who would have liked to have heard everything they had to say about the match. and of course Emma's performance in particular.

One thing Emma is clearly better than Leylah is her serves. Most players can put up a hard and fast 1st serve but Emma's 2nd is not bad at all. The way she moves, no wonder Emma won the US Open.

Naomi has mental health issues THAT is the main difference. She is still outrageously talented, you don't just simply lose talent at that level. Like any high level sport psychology is just as, if not more, important than physicality. Naomi appears 'fragile' even before games now whereas Emma just has that incredible mentality. Part youthful lack of fear but mostly just incredible honed will/focus. As long as she maintains that imo she'll (and Fernades) will shake the women's game.

It is also interesting to note that it was Harriet Dart who beat Raducanu at Nottingham just prior to Wimbledon this year, just before the teenager's rise to prominence. Unlike Gerry Robbertson, I believe Raducanu will win another major open title, but maybe not for a couple of years yet. She has got to learn a lot about the WTA circuit and develop her game solidly. Once she can do that, she'll be one of the top 5 in the world.
