James Gunn and Guardians of the Galaxy might be in the headlines these days for very different reasons, but just a few years ago they were introduced to the world and helped turn Chris Pratt into a global phenomenon. People instantly fell in love with Peter Quill AKA Star-Lord as well as Gamora, Drax, Rocket and of course Groot. Although we all know and love these Marvel characters now, can you imagine how weird it must have been to actually pitch the first movie? A talking tree that just says his own name? A foul-mouthed gun-toting racoon? Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Marvel’s galactic heroes and helped set up Avengers Infinity War!

The conversation must have gone exactly like this at the Marvel studios.
I feel like a movie focusing on Gamora would have had a much darker tone, maybe a little too dark for the MCU. (I don't think that's the reason, but I can see why they wanted to focus on a big goofball instead.)
Remember, these stories are from the comic books. And in the comic books, StarLord was the main character. Super easy......you know the rest.

Imagine how many scenes Van Diesel had to redo, featuring him simply muttering "I am Groot", over and over again.
I always hear the complaint that the partial artificial gravity setting doesn't make sense, but do people not remember that Rocket hot-wired it? It wasn't designed to have different sections switched on and off separately, Rocket modified it. Also, they learn about sharing the power of a stone from The Collector.
That doesn't make any sense though. I feel like the writer thought of a cool set piece and just said "computers are magic or something I don't care" as an excuse.
“Can’t permanently kill a lovable character in a marvel movie” Me after seeing Endgame: 😬
Can you do one with Watchmen?

Silence of the Lambs pitch meeting pls :-P
Producer: How do they know to do that?
Writer: I don't know
Movie: Literally explains this when they go to talk to The Collector.
Aw, there was no "please stop".
Actually they explained why Star Lord was able to hold the power stone just before the end of the movie by Nova
And the idea of diffusing the powers through multiple people was set up by the collectors story about when the celestials tried to to that.
@@derekbrown6161 yes, but the Collector also literally told them it didn't work. They all died. He even showed them the video of mortals trying to hold the stone and dying. And if that wasn't enough to convince them holding the stone would just kill them all, they see, in first person, the collector's slave grab the stone and blow up along with half the building. They literally watched it microwave a girl.
And even then they're like 'aww shucks. Gotta hold the stone.'. It was completely moronic. Why bother establishing the thing will kill them if they touch it then have them touch it as a first response anyway?
@@maxdecphoenix If I remember correctly (and I very well may not), the Celestials held the Power Stone for a few seconds before dying, and the Guardians also only held it for a few seconds, but the Guardians only needed it for a few seconds and dropped it before dying, while the Celestials tried to keep it.
Edit: Also, I think the Guardians thought "Dang, he's really grabbing it? Well, this really is the only way to save us all, and that guy told us that we could last a bit longer if we shared the power... alright, let's just do it. We die either way right? At least with this we might save everyone. *grabs his hand*".
Gamora definitely needs a spin-off series. *That's a hell of a story!*

Lestad E How Baby Groot is awesome

Uh, phrasing?
With today's current political climate, I'm so glad you don't have a career in the entertainment industry.
The funny thing is Vin Diesel was also the voice of the iron giant. Both the characters have the same ending where they die sacrificing themselves and get resurrected
They knew to hold hands because the collector told them that a group of people managed to hold the stone for a very short time.
Peter hadn't immediately exploded because of Ego's DNA and of course Gamora wanted to save her friend.
Even if it hadn't been foreshadowed by the collector, she would of done it anyway without thinking to save Quil.
You don't often make mistakes man. This the first one I've ever noticed.
Actually that was the perfect role for Vin Diesel. His vocabulary is not much richer than Groot's.

Actually, I think a voice actor trying to convey the content and the emotional tone of a character's speech while being constrained to saying just the same 3 word sentence - "I am Groot " - with no variation in word number or sequence, is an enormous challenge. In essence, Vin Diesel must convey exactly who Groot is - "I am Groot" - at that exact moment and under those unique conditions and circumstances with his voice.
Vin Diesel puts more emotion into those three words than Daisey Ridley did in three movies.
“Because” “Fair enough” every kid wishes this is how it was with their parents growing up haha.

the gravitty thing is an option because they are in space and they got to simulate gravitty in the space ship so Rocket just turn off what makes it possible.
I've said it before, and all the Marvel nerds disagree, but... yes, Groot died. The baby Groot is not the original Groot. Sorry.
Interesting to see how these have evolved over the years. New ones are much more high energy than the earlier ones. They are all awesome though. Great work Ryan!
Even though it's my favorite Marvel movie I thought this was hilarious. That point about the voice actor for Groot had me cracking up
Um, the gravity thing wasn't inbuilt. Rocket had to engineer it himself from exposed wires. That scene is meant to show how smart he is, and I think it succeeds.
