Oh my word! This was such a fun episode! Love all your completed projects. The spruce sweater was my personal fav 🎉😊. Also, your original color-work on your daughter’s sweater is amazing! And finally the flannel pockets🎉brilliant! Seriously, amazing pieces. Thanks for sharing. (Your dresses are just beautiful 🤩 too!) happy creating.
The mushroom pockets are whimsical and functional. I love it. I'm cutting out patterns to sew on my annual mother/daughter sewing retreat in Finger Lake, NY, in two weeks. It's an old dairy barn that was transformed into a B&B sewing retreat. Gorgeous at this time of the year and I get my two daughters all to myself for four days. I'm making all new covers for my 3 sewing machines, new pillowcases, bowl cozies and finishing a quilted pillow w/a grumpy blaack cat in a Candy Corn Halloween costume. So much fun.
Such a fun catch up. I always learn something and am so inspired by your visits. Just started a Yarn Harlot’s One Row Handspun scarf that I am making as a prayer shawl for a past student who was in hospital when we were in Scotland. Oldie but goodie pattern.
*SCHWOOP!* ahahah i love it. 😂 I have some good wool in my yarn collection that I'd really like to use.. that short-sleeved Jethro idea is really tempting.. 👀
I adore all of your projects. Everything is just perfection and inspiring. I love a great maxi dress and cannot seem to find them full length like they used to be so the dress pattern you’ve used might have to be a sewing project for me soon. Your socks are just precious. I adore the colors you’ve used. Your crochet cardigan is just WOW! I’m not big into crochet but you make it look so polished and elevated. Thanks for another fun episode. ❤
I love all your sweaters! I'm going to knit my first sweater this fall. I love seeing crochet and knit together. I might need to try the cardigan when I get better at knitting. Love your videos!
Thanks for sharing your makes! Is it the crimp/recovery/bounce for wool? I am noticing the same thing in my two samples also--the one where the fingering weight yarn (the blue one) is nonsuperwash has more recovery, while the one with sock yarn drapes waaaay open. I think linen quill having so much linen and alpaca means there's just not enough crimp to help it recover compared to the 100% nonsuperwash wool, and that's why the two fabrics become SO different in addition to the mohair thing.
YES!!!! RECOVERY is the word I was grasping for but couldn't think of. 100% agree with you that the linen and alpaca contribute to the lack of recovery compared to the nonsuperwash wool (and then plus the mohair). Thanks for putting another great pattern out Aimee!!!
Absolutely loved everything you made! 1) I loved the mushroom flannel pockets!! 2) The Summer Lee socks!! Perfection! 3) I think your daughter's sweater would look cute with some matching socks (esp. the highlighter yellow!) 4) The animated movie of Howl's Moving Castle is one of my daughters' all time favorite movies that they saw as kids (and are now adults). I think your daughters would like Miyazaki's animated movies, too. (Oh, & I loved that mug with the purple heart with your sweater!)
Thank you! I'm well aware of Miyazaki films. Our Neighborhood Totoro is a favorite here and I've been watching it since it came out in the late 80's and now it's a favorite of my girls' too.
Love the lavender sweater with the sunflower (daisy?) bottoms. I am also a sewist of 60+ years, and made everything my sons wore, and even an over-the-dining table playhouse, and a tent to cover a bed. You could wear your linen dress as a jumper when it gets colder, but a light pinwale corduroy would also be nice in Minnesota's winter weather. Nice to know there are others who play fabric chicken, also. It stretches your ingenuity to figure out how to eke out your pattern pieces. BTW, most podcasters don't edit their captions, as you can tell by the em and um in the captions. Your socks are fabulous! Are you going to use the highlighter color for your daughter's sweater? Glad to know about Tin Can Knits recipe book. I'm improvising a colorwork sweater, and am guessing about the math. It would be good to have someone else figure it out. Their app is great for the Flax sweater.
The dusty rose mauvey daisies is the print on my June pants paired with the lavender Hibernate. And the navy June pants also have a daisy print in the photos I paired with the dark green Hibernate! Sewing is such an incredible life skill! Yes, I'm well aware most people don't edit their captions - I do because so many words are spelled incorrectly including people's names which then doesn't make it very helpful! Most often auto-caption mess-ups are purl --> pearl, Aimee --> Amy, yoke --> yolk, raglan --> raglin, merino --> marino, the last two don't even make sense because they're not autocorrected to a correct spelling??? You'll just have to wait and see how the next sweater for my daughter comes to be! YES, I can well do the math through some trial and error and scribbles all over scrap paper but if the math is already done for me, I can just tweak it the way I need to without "re-inventing the wheel" so to speak!
I wasn’t sure about the Jethro, but now I have seen your version I feel more inspired to make it. Love the jumper you are making for your daughter, what wonderful colours.
Love your hibernates and how you styled them. I absolutely adore those socks and the crochet cardi. Thanks Stephanie for another insightful and inspiring episode.
I recently found your podcast and I have to say I am very much enjoying it. You put such a positive spin on everything and I just love your energy! Thank you for podcasting!
Lovely colors! So “Autumn”! Wowza, neon yellow w purples… yessss! I’m “pretty” close to getting Purl Soho’s Good Wool… sale + this Gorgeous purple….and I adore purple! (and a yummy rich red, and cobalt/royal blue and…) P.Soho has the deepest, rich colors! Not sure what sweater, tho. Cardigan probably w V-neck. So many choices! Just got Tif N.’s Quill tee pattern, using (of course!!!) Linen Quill - deep blue. I have Turmeric yellow leftover (from H&H shawl), that should look nice! Love the socks! Interesting how different yarns (and/or blends) behave, it’s not always easy to determine this. It’s why I’m grateful when a UA-cam-r discusses their findings. I learn so much !! Gone (thankfully!) are the (early) days when I bought xyz yarn and made abc pattern… and wondered why lmnop issue happened. Ahh, learned a lot tho! Thanks for a very yummy variety of colors (food, garden, yarn, dresses)!!!
Gorgeous projects! I really like your green version of Aimee’s sweater. You probably already know this, but Howl’s Moving Castle is also an animated movie by Hayao Miyazaki. Thank you for another inspiring episode!
Wow another stunning podcast with beautiful makes. I love the colors you choose….they are what I would choose too. I just have to say that I LOVE how your coffee mug matched all your makes today! ❤❤
Thank you so much!! I think a short-sleeve Jethro cardi would be so perfect. I'm thinking of when a little layer is needed like going from hot outdoors to air-conditioned indoors or just being able to have a little fun adding that bit of flair.
Your linen dresses and V-neck sweaters ar beautiful. Such a classic and comfortable look. I love the two-tier version of the dress pattern. The book "Howl's Moving Castle" was made into an animated film about 20 years ago and released by Studio Ghibli. That same studio released another great animated film, "Princess Mononoke". One knitter has designed a gorgeous scarf with scenes from Princess Mononoke, and her design is on Ravelry. I ordered Knitting Yarn from Purl Soho to make that scarf, colors are Heirloom White and Pine Needle, a very dark green.
Thank you so much! Yes! I know about the movies! How cool to have scarves from the scenes of Princess Mononoke (I feel like there's some deja vu going on....did you mention this last year by chance??? if not, there must be someone else inspired to do the same!).
@@EdibleThoughtsMakes Yes, I believe I did mention the Princess Mononoke scarf/wrap pattern in a comment to you following one of your Episodes. It's been almost 2 years ago, because I ordered the yarn for that scarf in February 2023.
Literally just ordered Good Wool in Teal Twilight for my own Hibernate. I think this is one that I'll make multiples of. Loved seeing your daughter's pullover! I was just wondering about it while watching your last episode.
LOVE Teal Twilight. YAY!!! So excited for you!!! I'm glad to have dusted off her Strange Brew Sweater - though it isn't super "Halloween-y" it can totally be a Halloween vibe with a cat ear headband (which we have multiple of in multiple colors in our house...lol).
What a great sweater! It’s going on the “To Knit” list. And as always, I love your color choices and outfit combos. Thanks for the fun knitting company this morning.
I love your Jethro!!! I just finished mine and it is a bit big, even though I went down a size from the suggested size chart. Now I’m working on Jethro cardigans for my adult daughter, DIL and two young granddaughters. :) Susan
I love your dresses, the outfits you put together - chefs kiss! I hope to get to your level one day, they really look so professional! I'm excited to see your kid knits! I make a lot of petiteknit for my little one- I think Lyon sweater will become a favourite, but it's nice to see something non PK hehe. I love the colours you put together and can't wait see it doen~
Thank you so much!! Lots and lots of practice! I'm a big fan of the size range of patterns from Tin Can Knits and have knit several of their patterns in garments and accessories!!
I'm working on a sweater now with that spruce green good wool yarn. And it's my 2nd project using good wool. I got it because you talked so highly of it before. And I totally agree. It's a lovely yarn!!!❤❤❤
I love your CCC socks. Mine are 34:14 a bit more wild. I am in a wild era for my sock knitting. I love that I can do things with socks I might not do on or with garments.
the colour combo of the mustard dress and pastel purple looks incredible!! love it and thank you for sharing
Thank you so much!

Love all your projects especially your Jethro! I live in a hot climate and like your short sleeve suggestion.

Thank you so much Becky!!!!
I love your Jethro!!! I just finished mine and it is a bit big, even though I went down a size from the suggested size chart. Now I’m working on Jethro cardigans for my adult daughter, DIL and two young granddaughters. :) Susan
Thank you! Sizing can be a little tricky with the squares. Easy to adjust but hard to see how it'll fit until it's all put together!! Lucky fam!!!

I love the way you put colors together!
Thank you so much!
I love your CCC socks. Mine are 34:14 a bit more wild. I am in a wild era for my sock knitting. I love that I can do things with socks I might not do on or with garments.
Thank you!! I love sock knitting for so many reasons and playing around on a smaller scale is one of them!!
Yes, it's a trilogy. The main characters in Castle in the Air and House of Many Ways are not Sophie and Howl but the story revolves around them.
Thank you for clarifying!! I just never hear about the other two books so I wasn't sure. I look forward to reading them!
❤❤❤
Thanks for the love friend!!!
Ok you are convincing me that I need at least a second Hibernate! I think a variegated one and then also a marled one?!
YUP lol.
Love your knitting! Do you have a preference for circular needles for your socks?
Thank you! I do! I enjoy Chiaogoo 9” circulars
I like the this sweater a lot! But there is something about the neckline, which I would not like on me, but it looks great on you!
Thanks! Great thing is there are so many different options out there for many different preferences!
Perhaps for the sound you were making…”It pulls in?”
I think “recovery” was the word I was grasping for!!
