Runway is 9,401 ft. long. Been in & out of there on the airlines when I served in the navy at Miramar during the 1960's. Yep, fun place to watch airplanes. Used to look up at those planes taking off when I was in boot camp & think how great it would be to fly out of that camp (I was 20 yrs. old & pretty homesick & wondering what had I gotten myself into).
WELL DONE!!! woww great showcase of slips to battle that crosswind from the SW .. beautiful compilation .. add crosswinds to your title man .. your views will go through the roof!! excellent job jacob .. those touchdowns are insanely impressive =D that cat has the best view on the block ahaha
Great spot, I was at SD for a conference last week and got on the top of the yellow parking garage for some plane spotting. Wasn't prepared though, only had an iPad to take videos but still very cool spot and was very close to planes on final
Great vid thanks for sharing! Visited California last September and first two nights were in San Diego, loved it. Watched a few planes land from the road Top Gun scene with motorbike and Porsche was filmed. What an approach absolutely superb for us that are interested.👍🏻
Awesome my man. My girlfriend lives next to linden airport in new Jersey and we get a pretty good view. There was even a few of those red bull acrobatic planes doing maneuvers there once. Good filming btw.
Wonderful... thank you!! Yeah our runway is really short compared to other airports... and we only have one so is exceedingly busy. I live 10 miles inland from this airport and our street is the main flight path direction, so I get to see the big birds all day/night! Due to the noise, I think all landings at Lindbergh must be before 11 pm. And yes I remember Boom Trenchards!!
This view is incredible! Wish MSP had a view like that! Unfortunately the only place remotely close to this good is the parking structure for the mall of America....
I live right on this street in the white building on the right hand side. Sleeping is fine, though occassionally the three cargo flights that fly in at 4AM Tuesday through Saturday will wake me up, but not always. It's all around a nice place to live even with airplanes flying overhead.
I'm very familiar with SAN as I started watching a few landings around 1972 in the evenings in a long gone bar called Boom Trenchards. I met an AA flight attendant 40 yrs. ago based in SD and living in Pacific Beach. She had been with AA until her death at age 32 in the AA Flight 191 crash n. of Chicago on May 25, 1979. As far as lives lost, it's still the worst domestic wreck at 275 on a DC-10.
Michael Difani wait so your saying that you meet a AA flight attendant who later died in the AA flight 191 crash in Chicago in a dc-10... that's freaking insane😨😦
Do a search for Little Italy San Diego.you will see that this spot is just steps away from the northern part of Little Italy San Diego plenty of options for eating and drinking. everything ranging from fine Italian restaurants to simple pizza and burgers sandwiches and bars. Most of the restaurants have either patio seating or even rooftop patio seating if I remember right so your plane spotting doesn't end when you go to eat.
I have a question, i thinking about spotting here. Did you just stand on the sidewalk or stand on something to view the runway. I know it's kind of a stupid question lol.
last time I went to san diego on amtrak for my bday and I stayed their for 3 days and omg I saw a lot of the old liverys of american airlines and it was cool because my uncle lives 5 miles away from the airport
Is it an optical illusion or is there a crosswind from the left ? All the planes are not in alignment with the runway. But I cannot see any indication of wind moving the palms.
Because of the steep hills surrounding the runway, is this an ILS or visual approach? This airport reminds me of the old Hong Kong Int'l airport and Honduras's Int'l airport approaches.
Kind of an optical illusion from zooming in the camera so much. The runway is 200 ft wide, same as you would find at many airports. Commercially used runways usually range from 150-200 ft wide.
ha! i know where you're standing. didja notice the crazy sounds the telephone lines above your head made from the wake turbulence? usually about 30 seconds after a plane passes. the first time i heard it, i was like "wtf was that!?" my friend who live right by there says he hears it all the time. i hear it once in this vid very clearly @ 3:53 - kinda like a wavy sound. btw, don't you wish you could spot from that yellow parking structure that's right beyond the i-5? you can see it several times here as they're landing. they fly RIGHT over that just before they land.
If the residents don’t have a cow, maybe one of the best places to ‘spot’!!from! I’m taking about worldwide places!!?? Hard to believe widebody’s routinely come in/out SAN!!
Dang, I don't know that that pilot could have touched down much later. At that point he should just go around 0:58 . I know this isn't Tegucigalpa but, they can't wait forever. The runway isn't long.
Look up "Kai Tak". Hong Kong suffered with one runway for decades. Huge global trade location and that small runway was taking 747's every minute around the clock. Not to mention you had to rip a right hand turn at 500 feet prior to landing!
1:00 Most terrible landing 4:32 Best landing In my opinion :p Living close to this airport would be really cool, but not too close that you can actually hear the airplanes though
Yeah, having usually two DC-10s and at least one 767 waking you up in the middle of REM sleep is no joke. But again, the waking up part doesn't always happen.
Yeah excuse me about that a better word would be I thought he was being sarcastic. You should climb to the roof of your home and get some footage. That be pretty special.
Why didn't they name the airport after the men who flew non-stop across the Atlantic nine years before Lindbergh? Oh I know, it's because they were British and not American
It's rather like Thomas Edison inventing the light bulb 20 years after Joseph Swan of Gateshead, England invented it.... Oh dear me, Joseph Swan was British too......... lol

I want to live in this street. In the evening don't waching TV, just sitting in front of the window and watch the approach, simply beautiful...:D
Wow, that quality is insane. well done..!
7:03 those reflections had me speechless
Awesome video, fantastic location! Must be pretty odd to see a runway at the bottom of the road, looks awesome :)
Love that airport!
terrible airport- so boxed in- should have moved to Miramar while they had the opportunity!
My favorite airport, just love it
Great spot, I was at SD for a conference last week and got on the top of the yellow parking garage for some plane spotting. Wasn't prepared though, only had an iPad to take videos but still very cool spot and was very close to planes on final

Wonderful view
Awesome my man. My girlfriend lives next to linden airport in new Jersey and we get a pretty good view. There was even a few of those red bull acrobatic planes doing maneuvers there once. Good filming btw.
Very good video, the sound is very good too. Airport complicated to operate at. Saludos

Thanks! Great spot!
Thanks dude! I heard about that! That'll be awesome!
4:33 seemed like he was gonna touchdown on the piano keys.
Thank you! No there was a slight surface crosswind. You are correct!
Wow very nice looking neighbourhood

Great video!! That pilot at about about 4:15 nailed it.

beautiful!!!
Love the video
Great video man! Soon JAL will fly there 787 to SAN. I can't wait to see that!!
Lol, check out the ghost at 1:37!!
I swing by Lindbergh about once a year, it's definitely an awesome airport :)
god I LOVE THIS AIRPORT and all other cali. airports
great video love the cat haha
Where was this spotted? I'm heading to the area soon, and I'm hoping to do a bit of spotting. This location looks fantastic.
Derek MacPherson [DMac10121] little Italy is a nice spot,so is corner of Laurel and Pacific highway
Thanks Ryan! I may just do that. Haha yes the cat! I thought that be a funny addition to the video :).
Very nice video man...Is it me or the angle you're shooting at that pretty much every landing was done in a slight crosswind ?
Great vid man!!! Thanks for posting!:D
Amigo
The videos are taken from your home?
Saludos

Thank you for your answer. Poor sleep of the people of that area. Saludos desde Argentina
I have a question, i thinking about spotting here. Did you just stand on the sidewalk or stand on something to view the runway. I know it's kind of a stupid question lol.
My condolences to the residents living there
Thanks!
Great video but a question: Are there people or organisations which are unhappy about the noise? Just to compare with the situation at Zurich.
last time I went to san diego on amtrak for my bday and I stayed their for 3 days and omg I saw a lot of the old liverys of american airlines and it was cool because my uncle lives 5 miles away from the airport
On March 27th 2016 British Airways became a 747-4 at San Diego
I like your house because your front yard is the runway:)
Nice Video LOL the Cat tho!!!
HOLY COW that first US Airways A320 went looooonnngg!!!
You can hear some vortices at 3:53 ; pretty cool.
Sony HXR-NX5U, and I am using the lens that came with the camcorder. Have a good day! Thanks for watching.
lol that cat was like WTF you doin bro??
Looks like your at Tegucigalpa!
Great spot

Oh I wish amigo. It was taken on the sidewalk next to some gentlemans home who probably has difficulty sleeping at night hehe. Thanks for watching.
Loved it and totaly subscribe it.
6:36 Awwwwww, so cute:)
Nice! 1st & Grape?
The runway isn't small it's just the camera is zoomed in! Crosswind lots of it!
4:32 the best of them all!
Was this video filmed on West Laurel st.?
Kind of an optical illusion from zooming in the camera so much. The runway is 200 ft wide, same as you would find at many airports. Commercially used runways usually range from 150-200 ft wide.
1:02 landed really really far down the runway!
6:37 is the coolest aircraft in this video
That second landing, he should have done a go around. Yeah sure there is some runway left but really just go around man.
At 1:38 is that wake turbulence I see going across the screen?
the cats face LOL
Thank you! I thought some people may enjoy that haha. I honestly didn't try. I figured (s)he wanted to be left alone haha.
2:56 *AMERICAN MADDOG!!*
To bad they retire in 3 days :(((

you should get some on video and post them. its definitely not a common sound people would hear, unless they live under a flight path.
Time for a new airport
Yes thats another plane
What is the name of this street? I want to live there
No way. I was talking to some dude, and I thought he was kidding about how there are a few 4:00 AM Cargo Flights.
If the residents don’t have a cow, maybe one of the best places to ‘spot’!!from! I’m taking about worldwide places!!??
Hard to believe widebody’s routinely come in/out SAN!!
Does SAN just have one runway?
yes it does

6:36 LOLOLOLOL cat on the road.
Thats pretty. 6:40
how come they land so far up the runway?
gibbyh65 there's a hill right next to approach end of runway
The yellowish airport parking structure is in the flight path.
I think the first private jet bad the best landing
Woof US Airways floated that sucker
Can't see how any big city airport just has on runway.
Look up "Kai Tak". Hong Kong suffered with one runway for decades. Huge global trade location and that small runway was taking 747's every minute around the clock. Not to mention you had to rip a right hand turn at 500 feet prior to landing!
1:00 Most terrible landing
4:32 Best landing
In my opinion :p
Living close to this airport would be really cool, but not too close that you can actually hear the airplanes though
Side walk man
The runway seems so short.
It's like a mile long...
+mauidano13 its 1.7 miles long
optical illusion because of angle..it's over nine thousand feet
It is. There is a displaced threshold on this runway. The length is reduced by almost 2000 ft
its an aircraft carrier
Albatross Street
And.....Why did they build a Parking Structure in the flight path of this airport ??
Joy of Lego because our leaders are stupid
at 20 seconds where were you
this runway is an aircraft carrier
Yeah, having usually two DC-10s and at least one 767 waking you up in the middle of REM sleep is no joke. But again, the waking up part doesn't always happen.
Isn't this the busiest single runway airport in the country?
Yes!
you got to be kidding me that's a small strip of runaway for a jet
Nicky D It’s actually 9,400 feet.
Thee plane boss lol
so much b737s
Yeah excuse me about that a better word would be I thought he was being sarcastic. You should climb to the roof of your home and get some footage. That be pretty special.
I would want live there :( ... the noise and proximity of impact of some idiot pilot is too high ... BUT PICTURE IT IS AWESOME :)
1:05 He should have gone around
Yeah, bet he was braking hard. Got it down well though.
Ha Random Kitty :D
that runways small
Why didn't they name the airport after the men who flew non-stop across the Atlantic nine years before Lindbergh? Oh I know, it's because they were British and not American
That's a whole other debate. But I totally hear you.
Thank you, yes, a very interesting debate too I suspect.
It's rather like Thomas Edison inventing the light bulb 20 years after Joseph Swan of Gateshead, England invented it.... Oh dear me, Joseph Swan was British too......... lol
