How to Use a Xbox 360 Controller on a Xbox One (quick version)

- Hi, this video shows you how to use a Xbox 360 controller to control your Xbox One. This is the quick version but I have done a longer video which goes into more detail. The process is the same for the Xbox One and the Xbox One S. It could be useful if your Xbox One controller is broken and you want to get gaming again or if you are having a friend over and you want to play a split screen game but you only have one controller.

You could get a charger for it and plug it into the 360 controller and then plug it into the laptop
you can use it with a wireless receiver and it will work the same as a wired. Plug the wireless receiver into the pc or laptop and set it up and it will work wirelessly if you follow the method. They only cost around $20 these days.

you can connect a wireless controller to a pc, just go to settings, bluetooth, add device, and hold the button to connect the controller to a console or pc, then it should pop up. Just click it and click connect.

Neat trick, wish they made the Xbox One backward compatible with the 360 controller, I prefer their feel.
Not to mention they don't get stick drift in 2 months brand new. Unlike my 360 controllers which have been smashed, thrown, you name it and work fine

@@otallono Nope not 50/50 the USB port is one of the big unsolved science questions in the world. No matter what you do, you always have to flip it one time.
It's technically impossible to plug in a USB connecter in correctly in the first try, the universe doesn't allow it.
Thank you for making this video, I am planning to get a 360 controller for my Xbox One and i'm in the process of figuring out how to connect the controller.
I don't think enough people are aware of this. With this, you can use just about any modern pad on XBOX one through this means. You can use XBOX 360, PS3, PS4, Wii, WiiU, Switch controllers even original XBOX controllers (Duke or S).
Of course, it's not so plug and play for most of those listed controllers, but it doesn't mean it isn't simple. You just have to download the right software that will "convert" them into "Xbox 360 Controllers". BAM! There you go. This idea came to me a few years ago when my nieces all wanted to play Castle Crashers, but I only had 2 controllers. I was short one. Then I thought about streaming and how a 360 controller (using PC wireless receiver) would theoretically work and sure enough it did. Later on, on my own, did I try the other controllers I listed. Sure, you can use your laptop and sit it to the side, but it'll be much more fitting if you have an HTC computer set up in your living room. Just set up streaming and afterward switch the T.V.'s source to the XBOX and all is right as rain.

you can do that with any controller that connects to pc for some you are going to need x360ce to convert them in xbox 360 controllers there are many tutorials for this for xbox 360 xbox one ps4 ps5 xbox series and ps3 (i think) you are not going to need that

I got the Windows 10 standard version laptop. The only Xbox apps I have are Xbox Console Companion, Xbox Game Bar and Xbox One Smartglass.

I don't think you can unfortunately. Controller is completely different in terms of the connector. Xbox 360 is when they started using standard USB connectors.
