      I am sure that a Snapdragon S24 would be even better--there is a good reason Samsung did not put the Exynos in the Ultra and now skipped the Tab S9 despite having to pay extra for Dimensity and Snapdragon. You should not accept an inferior product at that price. I refused to buy it and bought the Ultra instead, even though the S24+ would be a better option as I do not use the S-pen.

    03:32 Thanks for pointing this out! I've noticed stabilisation at 3x is not as good on Exynos as well, even compared to S23.
    09:34 Notice how S24 Exynos has 1 bar of signal compared to full signal on Snapdragon. I pointed this out to you earlier this year.
    Except for the excessive lifting of shadows in videos, S24 Snapdragon is vastly superior once again. Hopefully we'll get 8 Elite globally next year.

    Standby of my S24 EX is usually pretty good, so no idea why it started the day with that much drain already, but I think the results at the end where pretty interesting.
    One thing that may or may not play a role is that you were moving through the German network this time instead of Austrian, which most likely uses different 4G and 5G bands.

    I do overall prefer the pictures and video on the Exynos. With that said the better battery on the Snapdragon and generally slightly better performance is IMHO enough to make it a tad better.
    Samsung should have called it an S24E, made its price like 50 EUR cheaper and released this Exynos variant. Id even then prefer it to the SD one lol (IMHO 50 EUR is worth more than the delta between these two).

    One thing to consider when it comes to battery life on Samsung phones imported from the US or Canada to Europe is that these variants do not work with carrier aggregation for some reason.
    I've tested it with Polish, German, Spanish, and Slovakian networks and it doesn't work on any of them (Galaxy S10 G973W and reports from friends with S23 FE from Canada as well)
    it might impact the battery life of these imported variants quite dramatically, since phone's modem doesn't have to work as hard while using mobile data, especially when phone is physically moving (say in a train or in a car).

    • @HydrantTV
      @HydrantTV 29 днів тому

      @HM-wn2in it unfortunately might have the same issues in the UK, since most of the infrastructure in the UK is pretty similar to one in the rest of Europe.
      But I don't think it should be an issue for your mom.

    Earlier this year, i was determined to get a good compact phone that would last and that would be worth spending on and having. I almost bought the S24 on an impulse because i loved the size, weight, look and features. However, I'm glad i continued looking into it and eventually found your comparisons of the SD vs Exynos. Since my region only had it with the latter, I got discouraged and decided to wait for a bit, but I still wanted the closest thing, so after checking alternatives, I ended up importing a renewed S23, which i got at the price of a new S23 FE of that time! It was such a bargain, and it works and performs so nicely. It feels so good after years of inheriting phones or just being able to afford Xiaomi phones (which I'm also grateful for, because they served me well when i could only afford a cheap but functional phone)
    Please keep doing what you're doing. This is the type of video that can help consumers like me make more informed smartphone purchases and avoid regrets 😊

    After having the S24 exynos here in Asia since March 2024, until now Nov 2024 with the last update being October, I can say that the battery life really did improve for me, standby drain is better, it gets less hotter, more snappier that ever. • @pierreeven8882
    @pierreeven8882 Місяць тому +1

    I watched all your videos where the 24 (snap or exynos) comes into play.
    I appreciate your scientific and rigorous approach.
    I noted that your S24 snap only has 20 cycles but above all you don't worry about exhausting them to 0%, which can degrade them prematurely...
    So, after 10 months and this type of use, do you think that this battery degradation parameter can also explain the differences between your phone versions?
    In May, there was a 21% difference between S24 snap and exynos in your "a Day in The Life" video (5G), now we are at 10%, is this only linked to "low profile + 4G", or also to Samsung fix updated or even different battery wear between the 2 models depending on your uses ?
    As a scientist, have you tried to measure the real capacity of the phone batteries you are testing ? with Accubattery or discharge via a USB tester ? Thanks for your very interesting work

    • @techmo2020
      @techmo2020  Місяць тому +1

      Hi, the most important factor is the apps I run, also the last test was on 5G in a different country. I would say 10-20 is the real difference depends. I would be surprised if one phone degraded 10 percent more over the other considering I rarely use these phones other than test days. I also always measure the wattage percentage and so far it does reflect the percentage shown on the phones.

In my region we only get Exynos variant and the one thing has bugged me in the cameras from many generations ago is that as soon as it's a low light scene or dark, the Exynos variants depict darker areas as "muddy" - like a brown painting. It's sad to see that same phenomenon still exists in the latest flagship today.

    Turning off 5G does increase the battery life in Exynos. Of course that depends on the kind of use you want out of the phone. Also, setting the Thermal Threshold to one or two values lower than default helps.

    Thank you for this review! I am definitely getting a SD version. It is very clear that SD wins relating to heating and battery life. Interestingly enough, it seems Ex version is more expensive here in PH than SD - from online sellers.
    Edit: I also read that there are network issues sometimes with Ex. So, I'll ship mine from HK, instead of the expensive one here from official Samsung stores.

    Hi. First of all thanks for the comparison.
    But your comparison is mostly regarding camera. What we wanna know is how is it for regular use especially the s24 exynos. We all know that SD 8 gen 3 is superior, but how does exynos stand against daily usage after 10 months. Please make a video about s24 exynos after 10 months.
    1. Performance
    2. Heating issue.
    3. Battery life.

    That's perfect to evaluate the option to buy Exynos version.
    On the one hand , the frustration remains as Samsung sells us ( at least on release ) a different product at the same amount, on the other hand the Exynos existence itself justifies the close price between the S23 line and the 24 equipped with Samsung chipsets.
