  • More Stihl MS462C Firewood Action: • Making firewood with t...
A few hours after the last recording for this episode (The sunset day), we unexpectedly lost our Golden Retriever, Juns (June Bug). He was a beloved friend and family member and will be forever in our hearts.
Tis the season for firewood production and it starts with needing to cut down a handful of dead oak trees. Oak makes great firewood, just 3 years down the line, so we expect to burn this firewood in the winter of 2027-28.

First thing I thought was oh no! A widow maker! But it didn’t look like it was caught too bad. Good job!!

Why do u cut the sides of the notch before the back cut? Your cutting your hinge wood …. If it’s rotten in the center the sides will be the only thing that is holding the tree up 😅

Honestly I probably cut too much on the sides. I do it mainly so I know where I need to make the back cut on the bigger trees. For sure gotta leave that hinge wood.
