Unleash the Magic of Rhythm Guitar
Ready to unlock the secrets of rhythm guitar that hardly anyone talks about?
Curious how the pros can take the same old chord progression we all play but somehow make it sound so much better?
Or what if you are in a band with another guitarist?
How do you come up with unique parts that work together to make a typical song sound great?
Dive into Foundations of Rhythm | Nashville Sessions and discover why rhythm should be the cornerstone of your guitar journey.
Remember those iconic tracks that made you pick up a guitar in the first place? Whether it was the driving force of a rock anthem or the subtle groove of a classic hit, rhythm guitar was a huge part of those songs and what made that music unforgettable. To truly be great on guitar rhythm is everything!
What You’ll Learn:
The course is separated in two parts. First, we will kick it off by hammering down the essentials. Classic tried and true techniques that build the foundation of great rhythm playing. From muting and right-hand feel, exploring different time signatures, adding embellishments to common chords, how to use scales and triads to create hooks and catchy rhythm tracks, and much much more.
The second half is all about how create accompanying guitar parts like all the iconic two guitar player bands of the past. From Petty to The Stones, Judas Priest to Guns’n’ Roses, Pearl Jam to Metallica the art of the two guitar player bands is a topic that is rarely talked about in the guitar instruction world. That is about to change!

Rhythm guitar really is the secret sauce. Rhythm playing made my phrasing in solos so much better.
For sure!
You cannot be a good lead player until you are a good rhythm player !
@@BrettPapa Dude you are a killer rhythm player , God sent to me ! I’ve always struggled with knowing where I am in the Measure or how many bars I played .. or when there is like 4 bars of palm muting in eighth notes , i’m not sure what bar I’m on .example when you were playing that rhythm at 14:52 had a hard time playing along with you counting eighthNotes with the open strings. definitely going to get ur course!
Thanks for another helpful video. You are my favorite guitarist on UA-cam, mostly because your explanations resonate with me.
Thanks so much!
Great video. Once you learn this and lock into the beat you are sorted. It really is the bread and butter for every song.......well done indeed.
Thanks so much!
Excellent lesson, dude!
Thank ya!
Brett thanks so much man, I am having fun with this lesson.
Sure thing! Glad you liked it!
got it! many thanks for these intro prices .... love your courses, I play so much better thanks to you and yer cohorts!
Thanks so much! And thanks for the support!
Best commercial ever for a guitar course. Not being facetious. I'm glad I saw it, and I'm glad it sold me.
Thanks for checking it out!
Love the sound of those Gretsch pickups!
They are so good!
i am really looking forward to this. Thank you so much for taking the time to these course's.
Awesome! Sure thing!
Much Appreciated Brett!
Sure thing!
Brett this is one of the best guitar playing video I’ve ever seen. Honestly, there’s always a little sadness in heart when I watch your video cuz you remind me so much of my brother that passed away. And you play rhythm exactly the same way he did and the way he taught me. Keep it up man.
Sorry to hear that man! Glad to hear you like the videos though! Thanks for checking them out!
@@BrettPapa yeah man. I’d love to check out the /13 amps. I’m in East Nashville.
Such a valuable lesson. Hundreds of videos out there on scales and how to combine major and minor and blah blah blah... but THIS is what gets people's head moving and ass shaking...
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
My path of learning Lead guitar took me right back to rhythm 👍
For sure!
Exactly what i was looking for. Thank you.
Awesome!
Thanks Brett, another fantastic lesson. I really enjoy your approach and method to teaching.
Thank ya! Glad you like the vids!
To your point , I'd reckon Ted Nugent Nailed it during a GP interview many years ago when he said you don't walk into a music store and say "Hey , let me try out that Rhythm Guitar up on the rack . And after that I want to check out the Lead Guitar behind the counter"
Lol
Great lesson. It is appreciated.
Thanks.
Sure thing!
Thank you thank you thank you
You are welcome!
Brett. The Nashville Rhythm course is awesome. Trying to write my own songs and this really help me see how to put down the foundation with drums and two guitars. Would have loved to have a bass player part of your session as well. Pls add this next time and adding your thoughts about the singing melody - basically the core of a guitar based band 😊.
Thanks so much! Yes that is the next type of courses I will be doing. Full band sessions. Coming soon!
@@BrettPapa Absolutely fantastic - there is no one doing this in a good way (that I know of) and it will add tremendous value to so many songwriters around the world!
B. Papa is right😊 Great video.
Thanks so much!
Brett Never disappoints! I purchased this lesson and have been pounding on it all morning! Just what the Doctor Ordered! Thanks
Awesome! Thanks so much for the support!
Rhythm is a dancer!
Yup!
Great video and I love that tele. Looks great and sounds awesome.
Thanks! Yeah that thing is amazing! True love lol!
Brett you are a gem...been watching you for a few years (actually met you a couple times: Sweetwater and Uncle Larry's B-day Show), but I have been watching you a lot more the past several months, always such good information to help us all be better musicians. You are a helluva knowledgeable and killer player...no doubt about that. Thank you for being generous with your time.
Well said bru !👍🏻💪🏻
Thanks so much! Glad you like the vids! Thanks for hanging around all these years and introducing yourself!
All right man, I got your Foundations of Rhythm Course. Looking forward to absorbing it! Part of my purchase motivation is that you included Ostrander in the instruction. And I hope you're gonna profit from the "piano keyboard on the B string" trick.
😎😎🎸🎸
Thanks so much for the support! Justin has an entire course of his own coming out soon so this will be perfect warm up for ya.
Trying to play along with drums alone exposes my timing weakness.
Got some work to do
We all do! Great thing is is that it is super fun to practice to drum grooves and if you keep it up your rhythm playing will drastically improve.
Great lesson !
Thank ya!
Dr. P in the hizznouse! Love you man. Keep crushing!!
Haha thanks!
I am new to guitar 🎸
Awesome!
I learned to play guitar through Brett Poppa lessons about eight years ago. Basically, some of the best on the Internet, not some. But the best on the Internet. go to his website. I’ve been a member ever since Brett started his memberships. plus I buy the lessons you can’t lose. It’s a win-win with Brett Papa.
Rock Candy
That's what popped in my head also.
Haha didn't think about that.
I love ez drummer 3, i was using addive drums 2. Ez drummer does so much more
It's amazing!
I have this exact guitar. Magenta Sparkle gang! ❤😊
So good!
Been doing that all my life, some people (drummers) can't play outside the box, wing it, or play (try to) what they don't know well, makes for a SHORT Jam Night!
Haha well some people just enjoy playing what they know and that's all good as well.
great vid
Thanks!
I really need some tips on amp and pedal settings. Your tone is great. Not just on this video.
I’m pretty basic with my setup. Most of the time I plug straight into the amp with everything set between 4-6 except bass which is usually around 3.
Nice lesson! F isn't diatonic in the key of G, it can work very well though, particularly in southern rock. ☺ Rhythm is king.
Thanks! Yeah you are right but it is way more common in music to use that rather than the traditional 7 chord. For sure on Southern rock as well as many other styles of music.
this lesson is really cool and important , the rhythm in my opinion is everything , it's the base
how brilliant is it ez drummer?
Bro check it out to the singular sound beatbuddy drummer pedal , I really like it and it's the only pedal I kept since years ago.
it's a drum pedal , you can do variations and transitions with your foot ...it's bloody great when you have to play alone and probably it is for some live solo sessions and for buskers
f***** great pedal to have
Sounds awesome!
Great lesson Brett! I am starting into the course now. What is the program you are using for the drum tracks in this lesson? Thank you.
Thanks so much! In the actual rhythm course I use all real musicians but in this video I use EZ Drummer 3.
@@BrettPapa awesome. I’ve been looking for a good drum program to practice with. This sounds great. I’ll check it out. Thanks
Another great lesson!
Let me know when you're ready for my address so you can ship that sweet purple tele post haste!
Thanks! Lol!
@12:50 - Green Day's When I come Around has entered the chat.
Yep!
Love your guitar , I just ordered one 😊
That’s awesome! You will love it!
I was on the fence until I saw you playing it and it sounded amazing. Just received it. You are right totally incredible. This guitar will be one of my go to favorites.
Hey Brett, does Robert know he's never getting that guitar back? That 6 is definitely all you! It's gonna suck to beg! 🤣
He gave it to me! Told me it was all mine woooohoooooo!
2nd beat is Hurrs so good. 😂
Haha
Hey Brett, Nice to see you playing through Divided by 13 again, they have this magical sound That only they have. Thanks to you I bought a couple of them a while back and they are keepers. Sad that Fred retired, because he made some magical amps.
Yep they are my favorites still after all these years. Thanks for watching!
Link isn’t giving me the 50% off option
Sale is over. It was for a limited time.
A small piece sounded like Marc Bolin
Sweet!
Still dreaming about a Papa Stache homemade cuppa Java.
Lol!
Still love the pick-ups on that guitar. Awesome!
Cheers from Chicago
Yep they are so good!!
So about that Plex review…..
Coming soon! I have been messing with it this week to get ready for it. It is AMAZING!!!
Wish I had some kind of pocket after 30 trs still not found it so there might be no point in raking the course..😂
Nah everyone can get there. Sometimes it just takes a different approach. You don’t need to be a world class player to have fun!
If you watch a Kirk Fletcher video you'll see some of the tastiest rhythm ever. Not detracting from your playing.
Kirk is an incredible rhythm guitar player. One of my favorites.
Keeley will never get his guitar back.
He gave it to me! Woooohoooo!
Are u just Tom Bukovac's PR man now??? U dont seem to talk about much else these days
Haha no but he absolutely is one of the most incredible guitarists I have ever worked with. One in a million for sure. Plus the course we are filming right now is ridiculously good haha.
