  • This would be one of our most commonly asked questions as I think people can be overwhelmed when faced with a brand new hay net and a round bale. We all want to put it on correctly, quickly and efficiently. Please watch to see how to fully encapsulate the the bale. This is a quick and simple explanation. Please watch our other video "A detailed look at putting a GutzBusta Hay Net onto a Round Bale" for a more comprehensive look at this topic with lots of variations and options.
Using a GutzBusta Slow Feed Hay Net has many health benefits for your horse and other livestock. These include: reduced incidence of colic, choke, stomach ulcers; less boredom, therefore less stable vices such as cribbing and weaving; increased consumption time, therefore less hay being fed out. Importantly, less hay wastage due to strands/ small mouthfuls of hay being consumed at a time, not huge mouthfuls where the horse rips the hay apart and scatters it around the yard, paddock or stable.

My bales are 1300# and the 6x6 size is too small and I have to strip off about 300# worth of hay to struggle to get one on. A 7' net would work perfect for me. These bales are bought directly from farm and not sold too feed stores.
