If he did say that, it would of been the most hypocritical thing I've heard in awhile. Shit, SP mocks everything... yet he gets miffed when they target HIS belief?
Killswitch Sevenfold That’s what would make such a lie especially appalling, that he wasn’t so dense to have not understood that. Doing the show gave a new generation an appreciation for him, and that statement was alienating (no double entendre intended 😄). Not that “The Church” would’ve taken this approach, but it would’ve endeared people so much more if they just saw his being in on the joke. People really soften to someone who can laugh himself. And a lot of people will rattle off the entire gamut of jokes about their own religions. They’re the ones who will introduce you to the jokes, because they’re firm in their beliefs and unshaken by a little humor.
Yeah dude, that does makes more sense to be honest... however, didn't they have a recording of him or whatnot going off on Trey Parker and Matt Stone? I could of swore I didn't just imagine or misunderstand that.
Killswitch Sevenfold OK, I just found this quote from Isaac Hayes III from Tony Ortega’s site The Underground Bunker: “Isaac Hayes did not quit South Park; someone quit South Park for him. What happened was that in January 2006 my dad had a stroke and lost the ability to speak. He really didn’t have that much comprehension, and he had to relearn to play the piano and a lot of different things. He was in no position to resign under his own knowledge. At the time, everybody around my father was involved in Scientology - his assistants, the core group of people. So someone quit South Park on Isaac Hayes’ behalf. We don’t know who.”
My pops's a psychiatrist. I remember asking him about Scientology and Dianetics, and he was aware of them. He jokingly told me "There'll come a day when Tom Cruise will come into one of our offices because his kid needs care. Then we'd say 'Remember what you said about us?'"
@@roybatty9935 I'm guessing you mean that he wouldn't serve Tom Cruise's son any treatment. In that case, he would. Just a bit of a joke. Of course it isn't the kid's fault to be born to Tom Cruise.
When I was a toddler, my dad had brought my mom, sister, and Me to his office at the time. While my sister was in the other room, I walked into my dad's workplace, where he had the Tom Cruise Kills Oprah Meme up and playing. It scared the everlasting shit out of me and I started crying. Years later, I find it here. I finally get context to that.

When Christianity was changed and splintered into a bunch of different denominations the town of Munster adopted their own version that devolved to the point where it was basically a harem for the town elders. Younger men were killed or driven out while the elders took many young wives including children. Any dissent was met with torture/execution. Some seriously twisted shit went down. Fanaticism + Isolation + Charismatic leaders. Eventually it got so bad that the German military showed up, surrounded the town, and starved them out. Basically the entire town was massacred down to the last man, woman and child. The leaders of the rebellion were tortured to death and hung in cages for all to see as a warning. So yeah. Germany has some history with religions going rogue and causing serious problems.

After Isaac Hayes passed, I believe it was his sons that actually came forward and stated* that the church actually sent out that statement about him leaving the show and forced him to stop doing it. They said that Isaac loved Trey and Matt and knew what they were all about so it was irrational for him to react like that.
Julio Ruiz If he allowed a representative to leave the show for him. Then he allowed it to happen. That’s ridiculous. Can someone quit your your job for you. Of course not. Isaac Hayes words about religion were complete BS because South Park made fun of every other form of religion and he never had a problem with it until they made fun of his. I'm glad they gave him that great send off a few episodes later lol.

I was part of the ASyd (Anon-Sydney) Chapter of Chanology about 12 years ago, and to begin with it was full of hope and affirmation. After a year or so of my involvement, it had devolved into shouting in-group memes and screaming them at a building. It had become a victim of it's own initial success as cliques formed and infighting began within its own internal structure. We thought we were internet super-heroes, but most of us were bored kids wanting to belong to something bigger than ourselves. The goal was pure and well intentioned, but the CoS saw us street kids for what we were, and waited us out until we got bored. To this day, I wish that I'd been brave enough to take further steps against the 'Church', but I had a life to build, and couldn't dedicate more of myself to the cause. This is one of my life's bigger regrets.
MelbAnon here! You're absolutely right about how it fell apart. It took a surprisingly long time to collapse, given the history of the movement. I think we were still at it almost a year and a half later, but the numbers weren't there anymore. The infighting shredded it, and growing up took care of the rest. But damn if it wasn't a fun battle while it lasted. I just wish we had been able to acheive more.
I was wondering this for a while and I’m glad I surfed the comments coming back to this tale a couple years later. This is very interesting and explains why not many came up after it. Thanks bro!
On the issac hayes case, the creators of south park(trey and Matt) said it best - it was along the lines of 'we made fun of alot of people and different religions on south park but issac never had a problem with it and found it funny, but when we made fun of his religion he suddenly had a huge problem with the show, he's just a hypocrite'

Out of pure curiosity I looked at the autopsy photos of Lisa McPherson just because I thought it would just be something weird to look at that wouldn't be that bad. What I have seen is nothing short of nightmare fuel. I have seen many horrible things but this tops them all by FAR.
The whole thing with Isaac Hayes leaving South Park was debunked by his son. Hayes didn't leave the show on his own fruition, it was initiated FOR him from a representative of Scientologist without his say so. Also, at that point, Hayes' health was deteriorating, he had a stroke that preventing him from talking, ultimately getting worse.

Tyler Nilson how did you stretch what I said into that. A slave is owned, and controlled. A slave makes no decisions for himself. Absolutely true....I live in Seminole, Florida and my daughter attends school in Clearwater. Every morning on the way to school, we pass "Thomas" built buses that carry Scientologists from shitty apartments off Drew St & Keene Rd, and they bus these people from there to downtown Clearwater. You'd see empty buses heading for these apartments from downtown and when they head towards downtown, they are packed with wierdos dressed with black vests and long-sleeved white shirts. I see this shit every day and I'm always like, "WTF are they doing with their lives?!" I see the same thing in the evening in reverse. The buses are packed heading from downtown and the buses are empty heading towards downtown. I cannot believe people still fall for this nonsense "religion."
I live here too. I regularly ride a bicycle to the Fort Harrison Hotel, where, like you said, bus loads of Scientologists get dropped off, all wearing the same black and white hotel valet uniforms. Except for security who always wear suit/tie and have an earpiece. Clearwater is a very strange place. The police department is literally right next to the Scientology building, too, and a lot of locals think the PD is corrupted by Scientology money. I wouldn't be surprised.

@Zero Cool not in the same way. Take for example Christianity (just an obvious pick-and im not including those TV evangelicals who say they need a plane to spread the word, just plain old Christianity I'm speaking about) they ask for money yes, in the form of donations but the crucial difference is if you want you can find out all you want about Christianity and not pay a penny, with Scientology your not allowed to "go up a level" and find out the next part of the religion (which is purposely kept secret) until you pay them, and for each level the payment gets larger and larger-thats a big part of why their claims of being a religion is just laughable and also why they desperately don't want to lose that tax exempt status
@Zero Cool oh for sure they all ask for money I just think that Scientology is in a different league altogether. I mean the local church in the village my parents live in here in Scotland is pretty old and in bad need of renovation, it's the Church of Scotland so it's protestant so they can't go to the pope for money that's for sure, so they are asking parishioners for money to help rebuild it. I just want to say here that I'm an Atheist and frankly I think when we are dead then that's it, game over-but i don't see a problem with asking for money from believers, what bothers me is where the money goes, how it's used etc..and that's why I think Scientology is in a very different level of abusing their believers

I was around when all this stuff was going on and while I kept track of what was happening I never had any intention of showing up to anything in real life, I was just mildly interested in what was happening and curious about the outcome. A few months later when I'd kinda lost interest I saw an ad in the paper when I was looking for jobs asking to hire someone to "play bagpipes badly for 4hrs for a protest" and they were offering $80 to do it. My dad happened to have bagpipes, I had no idea how to play bagpipes at all but I could make them emit a terrible sound which was kinda what the ad was calling for so I called the number and was told where and when to show up. I didn't put together in my head it was the Scientology protest, I honestly didn't care what it was for I was just interested in the $80. When I got there and saw the Guy Fawkes masks it all clicked, and I had second thoughts about participating but decided I wanted the $80 more than I didn't want to participate in the protest. A guy ended up walking out of the Church building while we were out front and he started taking pictures of my face as one of the few people who wasn't wearing any type of mask - I just ignored him which seemed to make him angry. He got closer to me and took more pictures and said "If you don't stop playing those bagpipes I'll make sure you regret it for the rest of your life" or something along those lines. That really pissed me off, that this man would try and threaten and intimidate me like that while taking my picture. I told him I don't respond well to threats and that he would do best to go back in the church and leave me the fuck alone before I lost my temper. He laughed and went back inside. I was angry enough that I played bagpipes there another 5 times over the next 5 months of protests for free, protests I never had any intention of attending, that I almost walked away from despite being offered money to participate. After that interaction with that man I read more and more about Scientology and it just clicked in my head how they operated and how incredibly fucked up the way they tried to control people was. I started to understand how these people got trapped in a religion that I initially thought they must all be dumbasses for joining. I started to see that if they had got me at the right time of my life, and got me to invest enough money in it that I could be a Scientologist myself. Instead of feeling like their members should be ridiculed like I had in the past, I instead felt sorry for them. I reserved my hatred for those in power at the church, and those who did shady things on behalf of the church (ridiculous lawsuits and legal threats, dealing with "suppressive persons" via threats and intimidation etc) rather than the vast majority of members who basically have no idea that stuff even goes on.
StreakyBaconMan there is one "mistake" in your thought... Yes, you can "feel sorry" for The members. But many of them have been involved in criminal incidents... Also ask yourself, How can someone, who was a sci Member for his whole life, WHO never visited a public School, or university, Show never worked outside of The organization, WHO earned like 5-10 Dollars a week for over 50 Hours of labour... @@meinname5788 I specifically said that I reserved my hatred towards those in power and those that did shady things on behalf of the church. I don’t believe he really said that. His family said he was in a coma when he supposedly said that. He was already on his way out (of the show).

I love how Scientology was pretty much founded on a Science Fiction book
A science fiction novel that bombed so hard, he literally could not pay people to take it. So he did what any sensible, abysmal failure of a writer does; try to turn it into a religion.
It was founded by a failed Sci-Fi writer (and a complete nutjob) who wanted to get rich easily. Go figure.
Yep
The thing is that it is actually a belief in Scientology that you must do everything you can to retaliate against people that mock the religion.
So basically the internet came upon the perfect lolcow cult because it's in its very belief system to not let things blow over and and it keep making itself look worse and worse. It's actually pretty funny when you think about it.
So like a less violent ISIS
So an infinite “poke bear, bear goes ‘roar’” loop.
Like half of religions have this clause.
A clear unspoken rule of the internet was shown here:
"If you tell the internet to stop and forget, the internet will come back with even more power."
According to Hayes's son, he was forced by the cult to quit the show.
Well, shit. Now I feel bad.
Not shocking.
Obviously.
That's what I heard as well. I can't even remember the exact source but the whole thing with Hayes didn't end with him telling off Trey and Matt but rather him tearfully telling them he HAD to leave yet he didn't WANT to and it broke his heart knowing he had to leave the show in such a manner.
Scientology does have a long history of black listing and destroying members that act out against them. Definitely reasonable to assume he was forced by the Higher Ups.

In short, it’s a cult.
Just like every other religion
David McCooey I would disagree but hey it’s the internet.
@@InvAltDM Technically a cult is literally just a synonym for a religion. It means "a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object." It originally had no stigma.
Now it's often used to refer to small groups of people practice religious beliefs that are regarded as strange or sinister. Which is really just subjective. But technically the major religions aren't small groups, so doesn't really apply to them.
Cult sometimes force you to do somethings where religions are free to and choose
it is a religion, the word cult is for small groups, which is debatable, but nonetheless its a religion based on one mans claim to figuring it all out, in this way it is similar to mormonism or raëlism although the latter two are much less dangerous. i suppose all major religions were small cults at one point.

Steven Killeen they don’t know about aliens. The people in the churches aren’t high enough in the church to have read the documents that talk about aliens. They just think you are being a d$ck. They don’t believe anything you say and are not allowed to discuss the alien thing with outsiders if they do know. They believe it will kill you. Leah Remini’s docuseries ‘Scientology and the Aftermath’ is as riveting as it is hard to watch at times. Its a series that’s needed- Scientology’s atrocities straight from a former member of the church. She knows what she’s talking about.
I looked at the post mortem photos of McPherson... it was heartbreaking to see such a beautiful woman filled with opportunity, killed by the idiots of belief...
I remember being involved in the protest on Feb 10th in Dallas, Texas. Lisa McPhearson's family is from Dallas as well and they came out to the protest to thank us for bringing more awareness of the church's abuses to the public. It was a really powerful moment for us there and helped galvanize us for what would actually probably be one of our more successful protests later down the line that year.
Wow. When I was a kid I was warned that 4chan was a den of the worst of the worst kinds of people, and to never visit it or else I would be scarred for life, never to be whole again. Nowadays this shit is almost cute and wholesome, especially compared to the _much worse_ stuff people in my parents' generation get up to on Facebook. The same people, mind, who warned me against 4chan in the first place.
I mean I’d call 4chan a microcosm of humanity. Sometimes it’s capable of beautiful things by banding together for a common good. Sometimes it’s just banding together out of sheer spite or sheer ‘heehoo chaos reigns’. Sometimes it’s making up stories. Sometimes it’s just weird porn. I mean I think often it’s weird porn.

Man. That music in ‘the unfunny truth about Scientology’ still gives me the creeps. I think that’s probably why that one was the most prolific ytmnds in my mind.
I wouldn't be surprised.
crazy to find someone in the comments who lives here!
i hope one day all these people are able to walk away from what they got themselves into and live a normal life without scientology running, and ruining, them completely.
Scientology: Give us your money
Zero Cool At least the other religions give money to the sick and poor. This one MAKES people sick and poor!

How can someone like this get out of The organization and be able To find a House To Rent and WHO buys a car...? Something doesnt make Sense To me.
@@meinname5788 I specifically said that I reserved my hatred towards those in power and those that did shady things on behalf of the church. Most members don't believe that anything shady goes on, and they don't personally do anything wrong - they just have the mistaken belief that those who run the church are honest and don't lie to them about these things. Those are he people I feel sorry for.
