hey benny . had a 74 4 door like this one, that was so rusty the leafs busted through the trunk pan ,curled up and would hit the back seat! lol hard times in the mid 80s!
My neighbor had one up until a few years ago when it completely rusted out. It was the same color as this one, but 2 door and slightly older. Didn't have 5 mph bumpers. Her son bought her a used corolla to replace it.
My Dad bought a green 4 door Maverick for $50 in the late 80s or early 90s. He bought me my first car for $750 in the late 90s. I miss the days of cheap cars.
I grabbed a 79' Crown Vic 2dr in 1991 for $350.Was a trade in at dealership I was selling cars at.Put 20000 miles on it and sold it for $750 a year later. The good old days!
Dig the “power bulge” on the hood 😄 You’re right, a wagon version of this series would’ve been awesome. They probably didn’t bother because they already had the Pinto, but this size would’ve been much better.
Nice looking Maverick. 1974 was the first year for the 5 mph insurance saver bumpers front and rear. I recall a 2.5 mph requirement for the rear in 1973 and 5 mph in the front or both 5 mph if manufacturer was ready. Maverick's were tough little cars back in the day along with Plymouth Variants and Dodge Darts. I do think the manufacturers did an okay job retro fitting those big bumpers onto existing models back in the 70's. Most looked okay until the model was redesigned or ended production. Good video!
I remember a guy that was a regular at the bar l ran back in the 80s and wanted to sell me a Grabber with the 302 3 speed in the floor. It was that dark green with light green Grabber stripe. It didn't hold a light to the 340 Duster l had back then.
I agree, the Nova and the Chrysler A bodies had it all over the Maverick style wise as they looked like cars you really wanted to own vs. the Maverick which looked like something you really compromised on.
Hay hay hay it's a BlaVrick😛MO dow/phOdow..these ain't to bad I'll take a 2 door with the 390 or what was the big V8 that came in this??.this got the straight 6 that was a good engine back then..
That front bumper is sticking out so far 😂 it's in another zip-code! Huge bumpers are the worst thing about mid to late 70's cars...more so than the weak engines they came with.
Benny your knees hurting then why don't you look in the yard for a dodge Omni... nicknamed OH MY KNEE just like you OOOO MY KNEES....😂😂I'll bet you don't know that one..sorry just joking around but I know what it's like my dam knees hurt to whenever I sit to long..
Rare Luxury Decor Option Mavrick. Those seats had an attractive design.

The old ladies liked these cars back in the day.

Yes, they did. So many teachers had the more door models back then.
I tried buying one back in 2017 from a old Mexican man here in san jose calif 1 owner green with green interior all original 🇺🇲

I haven't seen any since the 80s myself. i bought a 250 dollar 71 lemans in 86 boy those were the days...😢

Big bumpers in 74
I like it. So many Ford's were made on that platform.
Fun cars.... My neighbor, when I was growing up, had a white one with a black interior. 😎
Yes the LDO had the custom trim and custom wheel covers too!
I just seen a 1974 n 1972 maverick fixed up here in my neighborhood of northern calif rims nice paint job 🇺🇲
Wow it has bucket seats for a 4 door stil a nice ride n you can still paint it n put some rims on it 🇺🇲
I have now a 1974 mercury comet

73 was the first year of 5 mph bumpers. I see that has the luxury interior.
My sister had a 74 Maverick 2 door back in the days. That looked exactly like that one, but it was from Motor Cars of Dallas. Wow! 🙂
My brother would accidentally get cherry burns on the seats and my sis would cover them with butterfly decals. 🚬🦋
Cool ole ride
My dad had a 4 door version and it was blue and an automatic transmission.
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍 : WOW you found a 4 door ! Must have been grandma’s car ! ⚰️
Normally I get irritated with people saying that a car should be saved, but this is one time I will say. It could be driven as is
Those rims from a 90,s ford either ltd mercury model. It's saveable no rust or rot
My dad's first and only new car. The vinal seats in summer produced 4th degree burns.
All over the place once upon a time....these cars.....
Thanks 🙃
Nice donor to the two door maverick or comet
Thunderhead289 might want them 😂
I think those are older crown vic wheels. Mid to late 80s early 90s design type Wheels
My 71 had disk brake front
My 72 had drums front , Disk brakes must have been a option.
There's one on yutune that got painted candy apple red n it looks good n has spoke rims on it 🇺🇲
wonder if front seat stock those head rests look newer style
Are the seats real leather or vinyl? I’ve never seen a Maverick equipped like this one👍 Would be awesome to see it restored but that’s unlikely.
Benny the video you just posted today on Wednesday popped up as private?

Looks like the 250 straight 6 under the hood.Thing probably still runs and has over 400000 miles on it.Not bad shape for a 51 year old car,
It is a 250 straight six.
@@googleusergp Great engine. My father's 72 Comet had it.Was still running around with it's 3rd owner and over 250000 miles on it in early 1990's.
5 lug! The mustang didn't get them until 94.
The older Mustangs with a V8 had five lug wheels 🛞
Solid car... except for the hole in the floor.
Very desirable rear end in that car, an 8" that is 56.5" total width. That, and the disc brake front spindles will be the first things to go.
Yeee Yeee 😊😊😊
💯💯💯✌👍
B enny dose that Maverick have posi ?
Hay hay hay it's a BlaVrick😛MO dow/phOdow..these ain't to bad I'll take a 2 door with the 390 or what was the big V8 that came in this??.this got the straight 6 that was a good engine back then..
From what I remember, a 302 was the biggest motor available.
@rogergoodman8665 yah I like the 302 hell of good engine
A 302, and they were a nightmare to change spark plugs.
That front bumper is sticking out so far 😂 it's in another zip-code! Huge bumpers are the worst thing about mid to late 70's cars...more so than the weak engines they came with.
luxury item was radial tires in those days 😂🤣😅😅🤣😂
I'm thinking the head rests are not original.
They are in fact original to the car. Those seats were part of the Luxury Decor Option. I kinda like those headrests because they are a unique design.
@rogergoodman8665 I guess you learn something new everyday
What's LDO stand for laugh,,dum l,,N old,,😆..I'll admit I like the 2 door my friend had one ran pretty good..
Luxury Decor Option.
@rogergoodman8665 I understand that I was just making a joke😄
Squeakiest car ever made! They should have sent it straight from the factory into the junk yard.
I remember when they were new and they squeaked from the factory 🏭

Ford never made any good cars in 1970's other than Lincoln continental!
Um quality control was off with most manufacturers back then.
I had a 70 Torino GT that was a good vehicle. Other than that, no l never owned a good 70s Ford.
I had good luck with my LTD
And Granadas. Still have the LTD and one Granada
