Folie à Deux is the French phrase for a "madness of two".
Joker: Folie à Deux is an upcoming American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips. The film serves as the sequel to Joker (2019). The film stars Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as Arthur Fleck / Joker, alongside Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener.
The film was revealed to be titled Joker: Folie à Deux. Later it was announced Lady Gaga was to portray Harley Quinn and that the film would be a musical.
The introduction of Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn will bring a brand-new element to Joker 2 that the first movie lacked. The Joker: Folie à Deux title hints that Harley will be as equal of a focus as Arthur Fleck. Folie à Deux refers to a mental illness that two people share, and Joker 2 will explore that by bringing Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn into Joaquin Phoenix's Joker's life.
There is still some mystery about what state Lady Gaga's character will be in when Joker: Folie à Deux begins. Her Harley Quinn could be a fellow inmate at Arkham Asylum and have a romantic connection to Arthur Fleck. It is also possible that Joker 2 will be a new take on Harley's origin story, just as the first film brought a new spin to Joker's origin.

I love how Lady Gaga always plays her roles looking raw and bare faced. It adds so much authenticity to the roles unlike other actors who try to look their best on screen.
You sound like a man who'd shame women wearing makeup, mistaking them for someone who givea a fuck. You must know (if you haven't already) that costumenand makeup designer decides this for the role. And even if she's bare faced, she's wearing makeup. Also, American Horror Story hotel highlighted some amazing makeup looks for her. Looking great on screen is the production's choice. Gaga can rock both, just like every other actor who'll work just as hard as she does in her field. It's work. Work. Work. Nothing but. ALL AROUND.
You do realize they just gave her a natural face of makeup, she's still wearing makeup. It's just not ALL out which is usually what she strives for.. lol.

@@sheryleneshay2484 Tbh, I think saying this person would shame women for wearing makeup is going too far but you're definitely right that it's not the actors who pick the look (usually). I certainly appreciate her "natural" look when outside the Harlequin makeup. Arthur is the same - they're supposed to look impoverished and troubled, maybe even sick. It's weird and distracting to me when series/movie is trying to go for that look and still makes the actors look glamorous.
I'm also definitely curious about the Harley Quin costumes though! I hope they will get proper crazy lol.

I’m psyched as hell for this, Gaga’s done her diligence of doing some amazing acting in the past couple years. Super excited to see her bring a different flavor to Harley
I’m more worried about Joaquin’s rapid weight loss again for this role, he said it started to affect him mentally somewhat last time. That’s scary as it definitely can physically in negative ways.
The first movie was so dark that it’s hard to see Harley Quinn in this version as she is most of the time very silly and lovable in the comics, which is her whole appeal. Margot Robbie captures that side so well it’ll be interesting to see her true psychotic origin and what path it goes in.

Harley Quinn isn’t silly lovable, she’s silly in a psychotic way.. sort of like Baby Firefly on Devils Rejects- that’s a perfect example of what Harley Quinn should be, or seen as.
@@DarkSideOfTheBrightSide It depends on the writer and the ones I’ve read portray her as a lovable goof. I know there are different versions of her around the DC universe but Robbie’s version is the one I’m used to seeing in comics.

I read somewhere the other day that the take on this movie was going to be somewhat musical with Gaga. The producers need to be careful, I think, that they don't turn this into a disaster instead. The Joker is the Joker, not Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly.

My heart sank when it said 2024.
After dissecting all of the screens, I’ve unraveled the hidden storyline for the upcoming Joker sequel. Also, I made that up, but that would’ve been cool.
