  • The AMC Garden State 16 opened at the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ on May 25, 2007. This was originally set to be a Loews location and even has the “searchlights” logo on the side of the building, but Loews would merge with AMC, and every Loews location would be rebranded as the AMC chain. This theater would be the successor of both the Loews Cineplex Route 17 Triplex and the AMC Loews Route 4 Tenplex. The Route 17 Triplex, located near Garden State Plaza closed on January 2006 and demolished on May 2007 to make way for more parking space and the Route 4 Tenplex near Bergen Town Center closed on May 2007 and is now a 24 Hour Fitness. Both former cinemas were previously operated by Cineplex Odeon.
I have been going to the movies here since 2008 with my first film for this location being “Horton Hears a Who”.

This AMC apparently repurposed theatre 1 as a virtual reality gimmick called Dreamscape, but I guess it didn’t do so well. So it was shut down and locked up. Hopefully they can turn it into a regular theatre again or even a second IMAX screen.
