A new Ford Capri project? Another one? A Capri Revival? NOT the Junkyard Digs Capri ... another one!

  • Don't think we've forgotten about all you Ford Capri people who were excited about our purchase a few months back of the Junkyard Digs Capri, that one is still around here and still moving forward! THIS is a whole NEW Ford Capri project, something our good friend Norm of Team Blitz had laying around that needed a good home.
    If you remember the Capri racecar we had picked up, that one is missing a bit. By bit we mean the front foot or two off the car where it was cut off after the accident. Well in order to get that resolved, we need another car with a GOOD front that we can either graft on or use as a template to build a new nose from. As luck would have it this one was available for us to pick up as a parts car... however it's a bit too nice and complete to be turned into a parts car.
    So, it looks like we've accidentally stepped into a Ford Capri revival ourselves! This car has been sitting under a tarp for approximately 15 years, it "ran when parked" and had supposedly had an engine rebuild slightly before that. What's underneath that long bubble hood? The much appreciated and often raced Ford 2 liter Pinto motor! So, for all those folks out there who were encouraging us to do a 2.0 Pinto build instead of the 2.8 Cologne, here ya go we'll do both!
    What are the plans with this one? Well honestly that's a bit up in the air at the moment. Step 1 is going to be getting it running, see how healthy that motor is, then start going through the rest of the car. Yes it's green and a bit gross, but it's got a lot of good bits and COULD be a cool unique little cruiser! Or, do we build THIS one into a racecar as well? Lots of options on the table!
    Lucore Automotive is a small independent American small business located just outside Columbus Ohio. While we are a full service shop that maintains and repairs countless daily drivers we are also well known for our work on classics, race cars, and collector cars.
    We would like to thank all of our friends, fans, follower, supporters, subscribers, and most importantly customers for being here with us! Without the wonderful people who let us work on their toys, and help their dreams come true we wouldn't be in business.

    I was helping a friend restore a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger. We bought a Alpine that was full of parts to use for a parts car. We cleaned out all the parts stuffed inside the car and found the car was in to good of shape to cut up. So we washed the car, changed fluids and plugs and it ran. Actually made a small profit when we sold it.

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  2 роки тому +2

      Good for you not cutting it up and keeping another one on the road! This one was initially just going to be a front end donor for the racecar ... as you can see though it's not THAT bad. She deserves at least a chance to have a second life we think. As long as there's nothing major structural or engine wise wrong.

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  2 роки тому +5

      Yessir, dribble a bit of Marvel down the holes it'll help free things up and lubricate the cylinder walls on a "dry fire". You can see it cough back up through the carb in cranking so hopefully when we pull the valve cover tomorrow... a lil light whack with a hammer and we're back in business. Worst case, head has to come off which even that is pretty simple.

    Hi how come everyone is calling. them ford when they were sold under the Mercury badge? I had a 73 and 76.

    • @LucoreAuto
      @LucoreAuto  2 роки тому

      Good valid question. They were built by Ford of Europe and imported to the states, sold at Mercury dealers but continued to be badged as Fords. The whole rest of the world outside the US (where these cars are much more popular) know them as Ford Capri. Not until the MKIII when they became based on the Fox Mustang platform were they domestically produced and became "Mercury Capri".

    A good Capri is about $20,000 ++ here in Norway.
    As for parts.
    Most parts, if not the entire parts catalog, is avalible from online dealers here in Europe.
