One of the biggest things i notice in college is people expecting to be happy and fulfilled by their study. And when they aren't they drop out instead of sticking through it.
"When you are going toward the goal that you want, learn to look far ahead." Spectacular advice but it's easier said than done. Many people don't have discipline or the patience and seek instant happiness and gratification. And when shit doesn't happen the way they want and expectations don't meet reality, people are quick to give up and settle and wonder why they are unhappy.
I myself am working on trying to see the bigger picture...It's so hard when you were raised with so many expectations but those expectations were not what you wanted nor fulfilling. Now I am learning to break down the construct of expectations and find my own path and am STILL discovering that path. Hopefully slow and steady will win the race.

"absence makes the heart grow fonder" … so long distance essentially makes any time together a special occasion, both parties are a little more understanding of shortcomings because they are trying to stock up on love and physical contact before you part ways again. Essentially long distance relationships are a way to extend the honeymoon phase, but the problem with being in the honeymoon phase is you have no idea whether or not your relationship will handle the stresses and monotonies of real life. It's a little like coating a blooming rose in wax to preserve it, you end up ruining any seeds and hiding the beautiful aromas in the process...but it will still look like a blooming flower for a lot longer than a live rose ever could. Ever try giving your girlfriend plastic flowers for valentine's day? What's tough is realizing that part of what makes flowers (and relationships) attractive and worth appreciating is their fleeting nature :)

Dude David, Your Conversations on your podcast regardless of Joe, Mariel, Gina, Nick, Bart Etc hits me in the feels, but the ones the catches my eye are talking about relationships, like I’m dating someone right now and we’re almost 8 months together but I’m asking for advice on how to keep and maintain a long distance relationship!

In response to the 2nd issue from the girl (@ 22:53), I felt both of your perspectives projected maybe too much from your own life and did not really address her concern. Men, just like women, have different libidos and if you just look at r/deadbedroom, there's plenty of stories of women who feel neglected by their husbands' lack of interest in sex. It's important to not shame men who don't want to have sex as often because it implies that she must not be desirable/pretty enough, etc. for him.
It's also important to not dismiss her and assume that she hasn't initiated sex and communicated this to her partner.
You're being too hyper analytical of this podcast and not understanding this is just conversation and assumptions. OF COURSE it's projected by our own experiences how else can we relate it to ourselves lol it's a podcast LOLLL. We base it on the information YOU give us and its all assumptions from there. We have to take the advice and the conversation somewhere and we can just sit and play back 30 different scenarious the podcast would never end. SO having said that, we pick and choose from our personal experiences if there isnt enough information being presented. If you submit three sentences for advice with no background information this is what you get. Scenarios and assumptions. SO it's not us being dismissive it's us making due of the information we have.
They just suggested she try initiates sex more. Based on the limited info they had I appreciate their advice. Sure it might be libido like you say but it might not.
Their advice could help some and not help others. It's just advice I wouldn't be so critical of it

Don't make permanent decisions based on temporary feelings. I was almost ready to transfer schools to be closer to my bf when I was 19 and you know what we broke up like a week after he moved. Focus on your career first. Nursing is such a rewarding career that pays well. I don't think you will regret it. Not everyone can be internet superstars like these two lol. So please please please focus on yourself first then everything else will fall into place.

I study abroad, so away from my parents, i rent an apartment, doing my bachelors degree in molecular biotechnology. Im financially independent from my parents. I do not plan to pursue a masters degree. And do not really intend on working in this field. Im much more interested in interior design. However im studying right now something more 'difficult' so that later on if i have financial problems i can jump right back into this field and earn more money. So my bachelors degree is some sort of a plan B for me. My parents however see me in this field working and earning my money. What makes this whole situation more complicated is that i have a long distance relationship with my boyfriend. We plan on marrying after i finish my degree, so with 23 years. We are thinking about opening our own construction and interior design business, since he works in the construction field. We are still discussing where we're gonna live afterwards. He lives in the country that my parents fled from during war, so my parents do not really want me to go back there since they came to an economically more stable country to enable a better life and education for me and my siblings.. However I have nothing against moving to my boyfriends place, i know he makes very good money and the culture and people are much warmer in this country, i really like it when im visiting him not even cause im seeing him but because the people are so relaxed, they dont have much but they are happy as fuck and enjoy every minute of their life which i admire, this is also the reason my boyfriend wouldnt wanna come live at my place because of how cold the people here are. How am I supposed to tell my parents what I really want. My parents are very strict, they were immigrants and always wanted me to focus on my education and career, which i did. But i think the time soon comes that i have to tell them what i plan for myself. I dont want to disappoint them since they mean the world to me. They have to accept my decisions,but they rarely ever do. They don't take me seriously and i dont wanna be a lil bitch.
The question is: love or career?

I can relate to Caesar in the first advice. I’m pursuing ultrasound tech and the program I want to get into is very competitive. I’ve found in these past few months that I’m interested in painting and I’m taking a painting class that I really enjoy and have been interested in modeling and recently was an extra on a show and the experience was amazing. I’m thinking I should just stick it out and do what I’m interested on the side but if I’m not 100% motivated I feel I won’t be considered for the program. Any advice?
