Yolanda, I learned to knit fleegle heels from this video when it came out and have done every pair withfleegle heels since. I haven’t knitted a pair of socks in about a year so I’m refreshing by watching again. This really is the clearest tutorial out there! So good even after all these years!
I usually do fish lips kiss heels, but it is too tight for me and my daughter so am looking for different heels that I don't have pick up stitches hahaha the heel flap scares me But wow! I am amazed I been missing out on the fleegle heel all this time because I hadn't come across your tutorial yet Thanks so much, I know this is older video but it is still teaching knitters years later!!! The link provided with written instructions from the other blog post, is nice too I am fascinated she figured out how to avoid holes, 😀
Also watching again for refresh. I miss seeing you Yolanda. Hope you, Jordan and all your family are ok. Thank you for this tutorial. Your teaching is so clear.
+Mary Sunshine Hi Mary. Thanks so much for saying that. I try to do all of my tutorials like that because I know that various people watch my videos and I don't know their skill set. I want everyone to feel comfortable!
Dear Yolanda, 5 years ago I made my first pair of socks following this video. Now, many socks later, I am still using it! Thank you so much for introducing me to this lovely heel! I trust that your health has improved and that you are feeling much better. Blessings to you and your family XXXXX
+Michele Kahle Aww thank you. I am glad you found it. I hope that you make lots of socks from this tutorial! When you complete them, let me know. I want to see them!
Thank you I learnt how to do this under your instruction 2 years ago very good instructions. I haven't knitted socks for 12 months as I be been going through chemo and radiation , but I have picked up the needles again and could not even remember how to cast on, So here I am again for a refresher course. Thank god for your videos. Keep up the tutes💕
I love how clear and specific your instructions are, taking the time to demonstrate slowly and clarifying each step for all levels of knitters. Your manicured hands are lovely to see working the yarn too. Thank you!
I may have commented here before, but thank you so much for this video!!! The pair of socks I knit from this tutorial was the very first pair of successful socks I've ever made, and even though i like going and trying out different heel constructions, I always come back to this video for reference. Thank you!!
Thank you so much! This video was exactly what I needed. My first pair of socks wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t found this video. I made DRK Everyday Sock and used your video to learn how to do two at a time, the toe construction, the heel gusset, the heel turn and the heel finish. Felt like you held my hand the whole way! Thank you!
Helllllo, I realize that family and life keeps you busy but I love your sock videos and you taught me how to knit socks. You are missed so lease post more videos.
Thank you so much!! I have tried magic loop for several years and 6 pairs on needles and haven’t gone further. You make it very understandable. I also love your nail polish.
best tutorial I have found for this... everyone else goes on too fast or doesn't explain everything in as much detail as I need. Thank you so much for this!
I wanted to take my time with this tutorial because I found the same thing when I was looking at tutorials. I am so glad you enjoyed it and happee sock knitting.
I only use a turkish cast on for toe up socks - it makes a perfect toe everytime. I came here for the fleegle heel instructions. Thank you for those! I appreciate your clarity.
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful video! I’ve only just discovered ‘magic loop’, having knitted loads of socks on dpns. Next step is two at a time. I love your clear instructions and demonstration. Not taking anything for granted is just real. Thank you!
Yup, great instructions and great visually as the exact stitch was done slowly and clearly, that wonderful nail polish is a slight distraction! I knitted my first pair of socks a year ago from theses instructions after abandoning my standard instruction attempt. Now am trying worsted weight, started with another pattern, but keep coming back here ‘cause you make it so clear, easy, and do- able. Thank you, thank you wonderful lady!
You are my hero for doing this heel. I have tried to do heels for over 6 months and this is the first one that is clear enough for me to follow. Thank you so much for this demonstration. Huggs and Blessings
+Tenn Provisioner Aww. Thank you so much. It means alot to hear you say that. I know the heel the can be frustrating to a lot people so I wanted to make this video with this heel because I think its one of the easiest and best fitting heels. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.
I haven't knitted socks in a few years, but I keep coming back to this one for my step-by-step fleegle heel instructions. This is hands-down the BEST tutorial I have ever seen on fleegle!
Because of this video, I have made so many pairs of 2 at time socks. I pair your casting on method with fish lips kiss heels. I think the fleegle heel is great, but I like the look of the fish lips kiss heel.
That is fantastic. I just learned the fish lips kiss heel. I took a class at my local yarn shop. I'm a visual learner and I really liked that heel too. I have not knit any socks with it yet, but I certainly plan too.
Wow! it has been a pleasure watching your video! I've enjoyed you as well. Thanks for laying everything out so that beginners and novice knitters can understand the nuances that entails knitting socks.
I used to knit socks a lot but it's been a couple years so I am watching this for a refresher. I remember liking the fleegle heel. Thanks for making this.
when I am ready to try this i know I will wear this video out. it still looks scary to this newbie, but I am not one to succumb to fear, :) Thank you for this!
Thanks for the terrific tutorial. I'm a top to bottom sock knitter. I tried a toe up pattern years ago and didn't like it. You make it look so darn easy and with using either worsted weight or fingering yarn. Love it.
GREAT TUTORIAL!! Thank you so much! You've taken the fear of sock knitting right away from me! I have already recommended your tutorial to a few people in my facebook knitting group!
+Teresa James Awesome. Teresa. I think you will like it. So easy to remember. I love it. If you are on Instagram or Ravelry, please send pics. Im Happee Knits on both of those medias.
Thank you, that was a *very* clear visualization and description of an easier-to-do version of the Turkish cast-on than I had been using in the past. And two-at-a-time toe-up? Perfect!!👍
Wow! Thanks so much for this tutorial. I love the cast on for toe-up and the fleegle heel makes so much sense to me. I am going to give this a practice on some sport weight in my stash. You did not disappoint- this is one of the most clear tutorials I have seen. I am going to share this with one of my friends who is trying to tackle 2 at a time. Thanks, Yo!
Very good tutorial Yo! It is detailed, clear and easy to follow along. I now see where I went wrong with my last sock project and will definitely try two at a time. Thanks for sharing. Happee knitting :)
+Sheryl Campbell Aww thank you Sheryl. I was so worried that it might not be easy to follow. I stressed out a little bit about this video. I want everyone to know that sock knitting can be intimidating, but if you dissect it apart it may not seem so overwhelming. If I can help one person, then the stress was worth It! 😊😊 Glad it helped!
This is the best video I have seen in a long time. You made every move so clear that I never once had to stop and back it up in order to figure out what you did. I now think I can make two socks at a time. A Big Thanks
Thank you so much for your very detailed instructions!! What a pleasure to watch you make it so simple for a novice sock knitter like me. Off I go to start not one, but 2 socks at the same time!!! I am so glad I came across your lovely site.
❤This is a super video even after all the years since it was made.. Still helping new sock knitters like me.. Thank you from me and probably many others for a clear and enjoyable tutorial.. From the UK. ❤
OMG I just found you this week. I watched every video in this series, twice. I am now knitting my 1st pair of TAAT socks. 1 st EVER pair of socks! You are AMAZING!! Thank you so much for this tutorial series.
I just had to take a minute to thank you so much for this perfect video! I just cast off my first pair of socks and they are perfect! Getting ready to cast on my second pair right now!
Thanks to you and this easy-to-understand video, I am completing a pair of socks now and working on the cuffs. It'll be smooth sailing from here. The fleegle heel scared me and I was afraid it would be too complicated. You made it easy! Thank you!
I wholeheartedly agree with the other comments - you are a fantastic teacher! It's very easy to follow along. Thank you so much for taking the time to record this video!
I just want to say thank you for doing this video.what an easy way to make socks. I am almost finished with a second pair. Love that there are no holes and so easy to do. Again thank you. Donna
You are sooo amazing! I love your voice, your nails, and the way that you explain everything so well. You don’t just show us each stitch, you also let us know what happens in between the stitches. I wish that we were neighbors.
It's podcasters like you and content like this that help our community thrive, Yolanda! I'm going to try the Fleegle heel and I've added this tutorial to my Stitch Techniques playlist..Thank you!
+Harriet-Rose Creations Hi Harriet. Let me know what exactly you are looking for when you say tips. Are you looking for things like needles and yarn types etc? ♡♡
+Harriet-Rose Creations In the video I used worsted weight yarn only because it made the sock knitting tutorial easier. If you want to knit socks that would fit in shoes, then you should try using a size 1 needle with a 32" flexible cordand fingering weight yarn. You can do magic loop with that size for one sock at a time knitting. If you are knitting socks I would not start off with two at a time. I would knit one sock at a time until you feel more comfortable. I would start with an inexpensive yarn that has wool and nylon in it. Nylon helps the socks wear well. Are you in the US?
This was the best video for two at a time and I normally do a heel and flap on regular sock knitting so the Fleegle Heel is perfect in magic loop ‘twas at a time. Great video and thank you so much for taking the time to create this.
This video demystified socks for me! From cast on to bind off this is by far the easiest tutorial for knitting socks I have ever seen!!!!! Thank you! Thank you! I come back to this all the time as a refresher! I finished my first pair socks from this video and a ton of slippers!
I agree with the other comments. This is the clearest tutorial I have seen on you-tube. Thank you for sharing in such a concise manner. I needed this, trying to make some socks for my new grandchild.
I know this is a very old video, and I have noticed that you have stopped posting videos online, but I hope this reaches you. Thank you so much for such a lucid explanation of toe up socks. I have finished a pair, and can’t wait until winter to wear them! And I love the heel. I hope this finds you well. Thank you again.
WooWoo!! I finished my first pair of toe-up-2-@-a-time-Fleegle-heel socks, following your instructions. I must say that these are the easiest, most satisfying socks I have knit. Plus, they fit well, and my wife loves them. So I'm a winner all around. Thanks.
BRAVO! Beautiful video, clear instructions, now I think I can actually knit these socks which have been in my basket for 19 months while I've gone mad trying to learn this. God Bless You! Thank You!
I have been knitting for 60 years and only now started to knit socks - on my 4th pair of socks. Love, love, love your instructions for starting out. I return to this video every time I cast on another pair. Thank you!
Thanks for this tutorial on knitting the Fleegle heel! I am knitting some socks and have wanted to try the fleegle heel so am watching whilst knitting the last inch or so. Your voice is so clear and easy to listen to, which makes this a fantastic tutorial. Anne, Australia 🦘
WOW...this was the best I've seen on UA-cam. Easy cast on and easy to follow. You are a very good teacher. Thank you so much for helping a new sock maker. I just wanted to learn how.
Thank you! I appreciate this video. I took a $60 sock knitting class that was not near as good as the instructions in your video. Thanks to your video, I am now able to finish my socks!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I was taught to turn s heel using the German Short Row Method. I have never been happy with how it looked. Your Fleegle heal looks so much nicer . Thank you. You are a great teacher! You should be teaching at Stitches or vogue Kntting.
I'm not really sure why I have had this passion for learning to knit socks, but your tutorial has FINALLY allowed me achieve success! Thank you so much!!!!
You are the first person to show me how to do the Turkish cast on. I tried it once and nailed it! Thank you it has become my favorite go to Cast on for all of my socks!! 😄
I love this heel. No stitches to pick up. Was ready to give up making socks but you make it so easy and your video was so easy to follow and see just what you are doing. Thanks
After searching through countless videos for a sock tutorial using the magic loop, I finally find the perfect in detail video I need to begin to make my socks. A million thank you!!!

Thanks.
+Roamin1 That is wonderful! I am so excited. Are you on instagram or facebook? I would love to see them. Woo hoo!
You are an amazing teacher. I’m no longer intimidated by two at a time socks
Yay. Glad to know that. Please let me know if you have any questions.
BRAVO! Beautiful video, clear instructions, now I think I can actually knit these socks which have been in my basket for 19 months while I've gone mad trying to learn this. God Bless You! Thank You!
Glad it was helpful!
You totally got me addicted to making two-at-a-time socks!
Yes. Its the only way to go.
Oh my goodness! This is genius! Best tutorial on toe-up socks ever!!! The progress keeper is brilliant!!!

This is a great video. Happily learning 2 at a time socks knitting this evening.
I have been knitting for 60 years and only now started to knit socks - on my 4th pair of socks. Love, love, love your instructions for starting out. I return to this video every time I cast on another pair. Thank you!
This makes me so happy. I am so glad you are knitting socks!
Awesome. Im so glad you liked it!
Im so excited for you. Socks are my favorite thing to knit!
