History on Paul Rivera Sr's early days modding amps

Paul Rivera Sr gives a little tour of Paul Jackson Jr's Rivera modded Fender Deluxe used many recordings during the late 70's-early 90's including Michael Jackson's "Beat it" and "PYT". Paul Sr also talks about some of the mod's he's done on other amps for other players.

I saw a Deluxe Reverb with the normal channel section sawed off and stuffed into a Princeton cab. It also had a 6 position rotary switch.This was the late 80s in Boston.Was this one of Your mods?

How much does the 1980's Fender Deluxe Reverb II amps have in common with these modded Deluxe amps? Guess a lot, they seem to sound alike. Love the Deluxe Reverb II's.

Sounds like his Stage IV mod is what became the DR II.

How is the additional gain being produced? An extra pre-amp tube? A cascading gain structure like mesa??

Forgive me, but I believe Steve Lukather played the riff in "Beat It", not Paul Jackson Jr. Luke likely used a modded Deluxe too. I am sensing an animosity on the parting of ways Rivera & Lukather had may have something to do with this?

Luke played the riff, Jackson the clean rhythm, EVH solo. He's just playing Luke's part on Jackson's amp 🤨😂

Luke had bad moments in his life, that's all,to the point he wanted to commercialize his idea of the "lobottom" sub for guitar,how about that,Luke...bit weirdo

@Little luke ,as far as i know, why Luke started becoming mad and angry,about Paul Rivera Sr, was about designing rights on the Bonehead amp .The sub-low output(a bi-amp design to amplifie separatly the low frequenties of the guitar sound,with an active Sub1 or 2 cabinet)was something realy special,no guitar amp had this option,at that time.The concept of this amp,was to extend the low frequenties and control the amount of it,but on the other hand,the mid and high frequenties of the 4×12" cabinet could sounded with much more clarity,because the low frequenties were already filtered out before.
I've seen thantimes Luke,at a festival in Den Haag, the Netherlands (Parkpop),with his project Los Lobottem.He had 3 halfstacks on stage(Bonehead amp,4×12" cab and Sub2 cab) and soundwise it was Heaven.
Still makes me wonder why Luke have/had this big emotional feeling,toward Paul Rivera Sr, he realy refuses to play those amps.Silly.

Little luke I met and hung out with Luke a year or so ago and he was a very nice, humble guy. I’m sure in the drinking days he may have been a crapshoot.

For what it's worth, Steve Lukather bought my Rivera-modified Stage III Princeton, Stage III Deluxe, and Stage III Marshall combo when I switched to a Rivera M-60, and before that, Paul had worked on Steve's amplifiers and guitars.

Rivera designed amps for fender from about '81-'85.
