Banana cue is a popular street food or snack food in the Philippines.
Reminds me of my high school days in Palawan, during classroom breaks (recess), we will go to talipapa (cooked food market) to buy banana cue and palamig (thirst quencher), often pineapple juice and that’s it… so good, especially when you are with your buddies.
Here in Canada, we have these Thai bananas identical to Saba (cooking banana especially and popularly for banana cue - originating in the Philippines). I tried using them for my banana cues and they were good, although I noticed that these bananas are denser than Saba.
Anyway, I have satisfied my craving for banana cue, and that was a good thing.
And when you cook this, please don’t forget to turn your heat to medium-low when it starts to caramelize, so you won’t burn the sugar.
