Watch their training videos they train in some sketchy areas so they're calm when going into something like this it's amazing how close to cliff faces they get where they put the helicopter and where they lower the rescue guys

They didn't, they camped on the tree line. They moved the tent so the rescue workers could see them. Cell service was almost 8 miles away and one of the girls hiked out to call for help. I understand what you're saying, but I just thought I'd clarify. What a beautiful area to camp at, but not to get hurt at!

At 1:40 you can clearly see the Sheriff's badge on the hoist operator's arm. Not to mention the giant letter on the underside of the Helicopter... Definitely cops, but why does that matter? Folks are pros at their job - definitely not the first time they've done this!

This is sweet that the sheriff heli can do this. Our local medical helicopter does this on the normal with all the mountains and ski resorts around us. They are one of the very few in the country to be certified in rescues like they are. Along with the Air Force Base right next to the cities around me they have also been involved in search and rescue I'm very happy to know that I'll never be left alone.

If you pause it at the 6:31 mark you can clearly see that it is badly broken because his leg and ankle no longer lined up. I know he said he thinks it's just sprained, but the paramedic knew better and that's why he called it in on his radio and told them it was fractured. I bet he had to have surgery to install a halo and bolts to hold it in place for a few months while it healed. Or maybe they may have just screwed it back in place with screws and steel rods.
So good to see young people enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Good luck to you next time. Maybe wearing hiking boots might be a better idea than flip flop/tennis shoes. Just a suggestion. I need to follow my own advice. LOL

Man I wish when I got medi-vacced out the helicopter was this big! My feet & legs were literally in the pilots lap, my head had a 2in gap from the top while laying down, my head was in the lap of the rescuer & I couldn’t put my arms out whatsoever. It was unbelievably small & it was about 110 degree in there & I wasn’t allowed to have water for 12 hours leading up to that & 6 hours after. It was a hellish 2 hour flight to say the least!

What they aren’t showing is the team of ground SAR people, mostly volunteers, who are there to help too. There are a lot of people involved in this.
