- This is the first of many videos from a Sept. 13, 2021- Oct.13 trip to the MN cabin. Remote cabins are a lot of fun but can revert to wilderness if not maintained regularly. When I arrive after a 6 month absence it is amazing how things have grown up in the yard of the cabin.

My great grandparents all immigrated from England, Ireland, Norway, and Austria in the 1880s to Minnesota. On my mother's side of the family, they all lived in Buhl, and on my father's side, they lived in St. Paul. I have always loved that state. My parents would be very sad if they were still alive to see the beloved Twin Cities in such a crime-ridden mess. But anyway thanks for the video it's been a while and be careful driving through the Twinn Cities on the way home!!

very impressive,,, a man goes totally off grid away from family and home to a wild cabin without wifi, phone or modern amenities. Films his daily activities for approx 30 days then makes the trek back home and uploads a video a day on UA-cam to show his expedition. You can't get more dangerously dedicated than this. Stunning ! 👍

Perfect. Last couple of days at my cabin in the Colorado Rockies and I've been thinking about past times sitting here and watching your videos. The grey jays haven't appeared yet, but it gets too cold at 10,000 feet for me to wait on them. Thanks for checking in... just in time.

@@augustreil The first couple of weeks I'm a little winded easily, but once acclimated, everything is more or less normal. I've been fortunate to have the whole summer up here to adjust while working my job from the cabin as well.
@@augustreil It should be said that the tasks I take on working on the cabin pale in comparison to all the things that lumbering sasquatch Martin does. A real coffee and pie fueled dynamo!

I had an insane bear in 2020 but no other problems other than punctured gas tanks and containers. This year most of the bears even headed to the towns because of the lack of wild food' A late hard frost and the drought made sure there were no acorns or fruit this summer. Yes , they will move into a town and even sleep in the trees in the daytime when times are this dire.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 Oh my goodness --I feel so very bad for all the animals when times like this strike !
I Don't suppose there is any way for game warden department to help the wild animal population -- I have seen some areas in the past that would put hay and salt licks and corn out for the deer / animals during winters !

How long were you away from the cabin?

And yes, it was a long dry summer. I'm glad the drought finally broke.
I was last up in Feb. I had some Walleye out of the Rainy River while there.
It was very wet and rainy from the middle of June to now, up in northeastern Ontario, Canada.
Here in Chicago area I think we are going to turn green and become frogs with webbed feet !🐸🐍 . Never-ending 🌦🌧 🌩🌫 🌨 !

Yea! You have gone to the cabin and are back home after a month, give or take a bit! Now my viewing regimen will be complete again! Dry here in Milwaukee also, but not as bad as down in Kenosha county. Guess northern Minnesota did not fare so well either. Welcome home, Martin!
