Good Morning Martin, hadn't watch this video prior, so while Im still with coffee its time to watch. My the time you sat down in your chair I count 19 different Spruce grouse, most I've ever seen at one time either here in MN or when I lived in Alaska. They sure enjoy that beaver dam sand. Well done!
Hi Martin, enjoyable viewing. I know little about birds and birdwatching but I love watching nature. These sure are beautiful and have fascinating habits. 💯❤👍
Sounds great! It is going to start acting up and stuttering at about 1:20:00. The reload did not fix that. My original was OK so it will stay that way for now. You should have gotten to sleep by then anyway.
Love the videos. We do not have spruce grouse in Mississippi. I find it very interesting to watch and learn about those beautiful birds. Thanks Martin.
I spend hours watching live game cam feeds all over the world but I will say non of them have Martins soothing 1920’s radio voice. Maybe is is the West’s answer to David Attenborough
Late Sept/ Early Oct in N Michigan we’ll often see flocks of 15-30 Wood Cocks flying into the timber near dusk, to roost. It’s an awesome sight, as they come in by wave after wave. * I think they are flocking up to migrate south for the winter.
We have a few here in northern Michigan but I am afraid my dogs keep them from coming up in the yard . I have never seen so many in your videos . They missed you !
This is mostly fall footage and "space" seems to be the goal. He treats all with disdain. Note the spring ritual in the chapters where a male is on the other end of the rejection game.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 Sometimes if you have different frame rates in any part of the clips that was sliced together sometimes trying to take it to 4K 60 frames a second and sometimes you have areas of older footage that is probably at 720P and probably at around 25 frames per second so sometimes there is that glitching this that goes on when the program tries to merge things together it doesn't quite put things together so smoothly that we would like
why do you have so many, I find if the grouse increase in numbers it attracts hawks which clean up the grouse pretty quick, then come for my chickens, I cannot seem to have too many grouse on my forest road because of the predators-I am in NS
Goshawks are a threat but the only timeI saw one come in grouse had already sensed danger and were gone. One other time I saw feathers indicating one had been taken.
Great video Martin, I am curious about the Spruce Grouse who hits cabin window, did you had it for dinner? Would be a waist to just feed it to the wolf right? I'm not a hunter myself and have never killed animals or birds, but in this case I would make an exemption and make a nice meal out of it.
Well, as nice a meal as a Spruce Grouse can be anyway. I stuck the breast inside the chicken I roasted with dressing. The jays feasted on the almost meatless legs and wings. A funny clip of its a "bird eat bird world out there" will not be used on a youtube video.
I just hope they will use it in their studies because these birds are hard find. The clip of the spring male and his rejection has been used my a Calgary museum for years.
I have already seen this? This is like watching paint dry? Your making me Sleepy 🥱🥱🥱🥱👎 these bird are from a small area in the north? ( game camera footage)
You must have missed the warning about who this video was made for. It has a playback problem in the last third so I reloaded it to no avail and marked it as a reload but you must have missed that too.

Had 23 one morning and that is a record for me.
Martin, you are one very special woodsman and your videos reflect that. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful woodland world with us.
You are very welcome
Martin it is so peaceful out in the wild like that loved your video thank you
You are very welcome
What a beautiful bird , I hope after all his hard work he finds a mate! Thanks for sharing Martin.
All about his turf in the fall shots.
Have spooked many ruffed grouse on my Lake county MN property but have never seen a spruce grouse before
They like spruce and pine and are most often spotted on gravel roads picking grit.
Martin 👍 🎥 thanks for chapters💪🇺🇸🙏
unfortunately the reload did not fix an issue in the last 35 miutes
Amazing Martin!
Amazing collection over the years
Hi Martin, enjoyable viewing. I know little about birds and birdwatching but I love watching nature. These sure are beautiful and have fascinating habits. 💯❤👍
Glad you enjoyed it, they are a bird that most avid bird watchers have yet to see.
Wow you really cut a bunch of grass looks good awesome bird video
Yes I did
I will need to make a full pot of coffee for this one. Thanks for sharing.
I did warn everyone. The playback messed up in the last 35 minutes and reload did not fix it.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 I saw that, thought maybe it was a time lapse thing.
Thanks what a great learning experience Martin !
I so seldom see grouses of any species in the North Woods. We hear them drum and flush.
Interesting! These Spruce Grouse are on a lot of birdwatchers wish list.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 They are a scarce and beautiful bird.
Coffee in hand! Just getting over the flu so this is just about my speed! 👍🇨🇦😎🌲

Great view of the place.
It really is!

So nice of you
Right on buddy 👍
Thanks for the visit
Hi Martin. What a great video and I love how long it is.
Many thanks, does the last half play OK for you?
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 everything was going well..

This was my regular camera mounted in a tree at the start. No need to hide in a blind for these Spruce Grouse.
Wow what a show 😊
Some of my cabin entertainment.
That male Spruce Grouse was so gentlemanly... not like the rooster in Dave's henhouse! 🐓 🐔
He did get in some good licks.

Perfect 👍
Glad you think so! Not many will like more than a few minutes of this but researchers will as these birds are hard to find.

Aww, they are so cute.
Made for a nice morning.
Glad it's back! Sorry it didn't get better at the end, RATS! ;>)
Keep 'em coming any way!!!
Will do! My original is OK so I am not sure what to do. I may try putting it on in two parts later.
i think we found are new man for the autobond society
be one with the bird be one with the bird
He's trying isn't he? That is quite a show. Bless him he just wants a honey. Beautiful birds.

Sitting here waiting up till midnight to see if Martin releases a new video.
I can’t believe I’ve acquired this addiction.
My doctor knows no cure
2 am cst is my normal posting time so you can set your alarm and feed your addiction.
Hello Martin, Do you harvest any of the birds?
No and all the locals respect the sanctity of the cabin yard and keep it a no shooting zone.
Nice spruce grouse Martin Cheers!
Thanks 👍
Good morning Martin video was excellent I enjoyed it have yourself a good day
Question? If you use the chapters to go to 01:23:00 does it still play OK on your system.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1
Unfortunately it skipped every 25 to 30 seconds and then you get like two three frames another 25 to 30 seconds for another skip
My original video is OK but reloading did not make it go away. Scratching my head on this one.

The bird whisperer in action.
So many pets up there.
I’m first!
Hey howdy to Martin and the Grouse
Thanks
Love your videos, what part of the country is your camp located?
The top of MN.
I heard that spruce grouse are not great eating compared to ruffed grouse, any opinion?
you heard right. A very dark meat that may go further downhill as they eat more needles in the late fall.
Martin is the original Spruce Grouse Whisperer.
And they do murmur back a lot.
Did the bird recover after hitting the window?
No, it was pretty instant, certainly never felt anything.
Where do you spend your summers
I live in northern Illinois.
there smaller then what i used to hunt Ruffed grouse is what i hunted but respect the wild for sure
You should see them with the feathers plucked.
Bird slams on door @21:25
Poor bird but went into the next roast.
Do you eat grouse once in a while?
Only when they hit the window, twice now.

What areas are these from? I want to start researching birds in my area. I’m in the Antelope Valley in California considered the hi-desert.
This in northern MN.
