I loved the clubs in Newport but I can't remember all the names. Scamps at the bottom of Stow Hill and the Stowaway further up on the right. One over by the Post Office, quite a big one. The Cwrt Bleddyn out at USK with the Helmaen just down the road. I know there's more. Then along came Disco which heralded the busy times for the clubs. Now I look back I find that the 70s was a while ago. Just remembered club name "Cinderellas".
1. The shop in Dowlais was in Merthyr Tydfil, which you totally ignore 2. It's not Bre-con, as in con man, it's Brecun as in Country 3. It's official name is Bannau Brycheiniog
Outdoor fun, always something to do. And one day we went out with our mates as usual not knowing it was the last time we’d ever do it 😢
Can't believe the memories these photos brought back.
Great video, you can see my house in one of the pictures
I was I pill only today, great pictures thank you..
Great images of yesteryear.
Good old days are the best 😊
Brilliant ❤
When Newport was the best place to be, pubs, clubs, best nightlife, now Newport is the best town to get out of asap.

I moved to Newport 20 years ago from West Wales and I love it!!!!
Some nice photos but all the panning and zooming ruins them. Just show the images.
It was much better in the 1960s than it was in the 1970s.
Agree, the valleys especially, began to decline in the 1970s as can be seen by the deprivation in some photos, which really took of during the 1980s.
..back when the only black face I saw was my dad coming home from the coal level he worked at, getting ready to take a wash in our tin bath!
Why is an American doing the voice over they can't pronounce the place names
Nothing west of Barry?
