    Honestly, the mom seems to be the one A-hole in the first story. First off, Lily expressed her not liking all of Laura's comments, which makes sense. The parents handled it in a way that was quite bad. Also, their solution of "sending their daughter away" was also a bad move, they wouldn't really solve anything. The way the sisters interact with each other is the one that really stands out, since, Laura isn't that nice, and I would expect a sibling to be able to know how bad their siblings eyesight is. Of course, there could be different assets that affect how each child behaves. I'm willing to talk about it as long as everyone is civil

    • @joseantoniovargas6548
      @joseantoniovargas6548 3 роки тому +45

      To be honest, i kinda see why someone would be scared and crying in fear when one day you see thanks to your glasses but then the next day you lost your eyesight. But this was also caused by the fact that she bullied her little sister, sure it was a 15 years old relationship, but it was her first one, that is what hurts someone the most, but here there are the other variables, how long were they together? I can suppose they were happy together in order for her to be really sad, but how did they interact between each other? Nonetheless tho, i think the parents did the wrong moves, especially because they couldve stopped the whole thing from happening

      And in lilys shoes welp if im that ugly no need to see me then

      the parents did absolutely nothing to help the situation. Laura the older sister comes for a visit and starts bullying her younger sister instead of being supportive of her situation. if I was the father I would ask Laura nicely to cut it out once or twice and if she still kept doing it I would just tell she could stay with her aunt instead cause her crappy attitude is not welcome here. why should Lilly have to put up with being bullied and then expected to leave the house she lives in cause her older sister who is only visiting has a bad attitude. if Lily already destroyed the glasses cause Laura wouldn't stop I would just tell Laura maybe next time you should watch your mouth and the best I would do is toss her a pair of my glasses if I had any. Laura is 20 she should know better, it is about time she grows up instead of picking on a heartbroken kid.

Laura should have expected some sort of revenge for her bullying. plus if her vision really is that bad it is just common sense to bring a spare pair of glasses if you have any, it was pretty stupid of her to not bring her spare pair of glasses with her.

      Like imagine ur sister has told u ur body was beautiful and it was still pretty even after pregnancy but then told other people that after seeing ur experience she wouldn't want to "ruin her body", so she's not the a-hole but her sister has reasons to be upset, I think they just need to talk it out and it will be fine

    "She was too scared to be in the same house as Lily"
    Not surprised. Imagine you, as an ADULT, torment and bully a teenager who's devastated already because she just had a bad life experience.
    Laura's probably just a bully in general, and now she knew she's vulnerable to her victim because of the lack of her vision.
    Being in the same environment as your victim while being weak and exposed: a bully's worst nightmare.
    And I mean, yea.. it was a pretty bad thing to blind her.. but I'm sure it wouldn't have happened if she wasn't a piece of shit.
    But overall, it was the parents' fault. They seen Lily cry, they did nothing, so Lily punished Laura herself lol.

But the mother should have tried to get Laura to stop more than just telling them to cut it out. Then again, Laura was bullying her sister over something she was upset about.

    The first one... Lily basically regretted what she did and felt really bad. Also chances are she acted upon her rage and realised how bad it was only when she calmed down. But hey, telling her to stay with someone else could help HER in that she gets some distance between herself and her mean sister. Though what they did to make Laura stop was clearly not enough.
    The second one... yeah post-pregnancy bodies CAN be ruined... not just in appearance but health-wise. Mum has what we (as in, my dad came up with the saying and I copied it) call "cheap Japanese plumbing" and has to go to the toilet every hour or so. Not wanting to be pregnant because of stuff like having body dysmorphia or a weakened bladder is fair enough.
    The third one... sounds like a big misunderstanding. It can be hard to be very close when you don't have much in common, particularly when there isn't much you can do together.

    A couple things not really addressed in the first story, Lily, the girl who “blinded” her sister, was 15, she probably didn’t know how serious the impact of her actions was, not to mention she was very emotional after going through a brake up, now matter how serious a relationship between 15 y/o’s is, it clearly meant a lot to her, while Laura, the girl making fun of her sister after a brake up, was 20, she is emotionally mature enough to know when someone is genuinely sad and low-key depressed, having just gotten through a brake up, and not to tease them about it, the only one in this story I would label an asshole is Laura, she strikes me as a spoiled princess. Idk though, maybe I shouldn’t be basing her emotional maturity on me (cuz I’m also 20), cuz I went through a lot of shit in my childhood and am now very emotionally open to others and sympathetic to others’ problems, no matter how little, so idk but I’d expect more from an older sister. The parents are also the problem, if this happened to me and my brother when we were younger (my brother is 6 years older than me) my parents would’ve just told me to apologize to him. Why was she “crying in fear” of her sister who’s 5 years younger? Genuinely, in my household a simple “now go there and apologize” from the parents would’ve sorted the situation, their parents clearly didn’t teach them the true meaning of an apology, otherwise she wouldn’t be fucking scared of her 5 year younger sister...

I’m older now but I still struggle with lots of things like body image issues and struggles with eating because of fear of being “ugly” (even though I no longer agree that weight has anything to do with beauty and I have gotten a lot better) none of the things I ever did to my brother effects him anymore and we couldn’t been friends if my brother decided to be kind to me but now I don’t talk to him at all. About the sister thing, Lily just got out of a relationship, she was already in a really bad state, and what Laura did wasn't just a "sister thing", she shamed her, ruined her self esteem, and just emotionally abused her when she was at her most sensitive state. You don't poke a starving grizely bear after a seagul took his christmas present. What Lily did was self defense, and regreted what she did amediatly (idk how to spell) when she saw Laura suffering, I don't remember in any part of the story seeing Laura showing any regret, or the parents taking Laura (or even Lily) to their aunt because of what Laura did. The parents can't take a side like that. If he would've taken her to "stop the fighting" it would've been ok, but telling someone who was mentally abused that he was the bad guy for getting revenge and throwing them out of your house is just making the person feel more like a useless unloved pile of shit, even more than what Laura did. It's like justifying what Laura did. So yeah, I think he is the asshole in this case, not because what he did, but because of the reasoning behind it.

And in the same way, I know people who are terrified of losing their sight, and taking away someone's eyesight, even temporarily can be seriously upsetting and damaging. The adults have now created a situation in which their children cannot coexist even for short periods of time, and honestly I don't know how someone could really fix it without first stopping the blows between them. As for who was sent over to the Aunt's house, I think the father might be justified in that he knows both his kids better than us and he could figure out what needed to be done to supplement the situation right now better than we could.

    I’m going to side with Lily. She may only be 15 but having your ADULT sister say something like “he deserved a prettier girl” or “I don’t blame him” would be damaging and extremely upsetting. Getting kicked out after being emotionally abused would be even more upsetting cause now she has to deal with the guilt of something that wasn’t that big of a deal where’s I doubt Laura is going to be affected long term by being blind for a few hours, it’s not like lily stabbed her eyes out or anything, and plus, she’s 15! 15 year olds do stuff like that and she felt really bad after seeing what she did and I’m pretty sure Laura wouldn’t like it if lily said the same things to her after a breakup. I think Laura is immature and her mum babies her for some reason
    (P.s though I don’t believe you should blind people for fun, I feel like Laura kinda deserved this cause 1. It’s not permanent, she’s going to get her glasses in like, a few hours and .2 it didn’t hurt her mentally or physically she was just a little “scared” so I feel like she was deserving of the punishment. Plus, this wouldn’t have happened if the parents didn’t spoil Laura and told her to shut up :/)

    What I find funny is that a 20 year old grown woman is "scared" to be in the same house as her 15 year sister for throwing out her glasses. Not even stabbing her, just throwing out her glasses. I don't care how much "blind" she is, but it's one thing to be terrified of not finding your way and another thing to be scared of a teenager for throwing out your glass in revenge.

    honestly I'm on lilly's side that was a life lesson for laura many people say dealing with your family is practice for dealing with people in the real world and in these times bullying someone the way laura did may cause them to retaliate in a way that will stop you from seeing the light of day for more than a couple of weeks and while the action itself wasn't exactly equivalent to what laura did it sounds like the effect was.Laura got some emotional distress in exchange for the life long trauma and mental issues she may have caused lily. Besides there are people who are born or rendered completely blind and live like that with no problems and while it makes life difficult for laura it doesn't cause any real harm and is completely reversible. it doesn't make lily right to lash out like that because that kind of behavior is almost always wrong but that's really just what laura gets.

    Imo, Lilly wasn't the a-hole at all. Laura is a fully grown 20 year old woman and verbally abused a 15 year old child for a breakup that she was already devastated about. Even if Laura was blind for a day or two, she can still get replacement glasses. Lilly would probably be traumatized by her sister rubbing salt in her wounds emotionally. The parents are the a-holes actually, they should have kicked out Laura since she was the adult and what she was doing was probably worse. Or taken more action to stop her from teasing Lilly so Lilly didn't feel the need to do that.

  • @Celestial_Emizel
    @Celestial_Emizel 3 роки тому +2

    Lily was in the right simply put. Laura was an adult who should have known better, but she was emotionally abusing her sister to the point where Lily locked herself away. A simple "stop that" won't do anything to solve the problem so Lily, took action herself which is what her parents should have done before things ended the way they did, afterwards she felt bad about what she did but Laura didn't.
    I'm 18 and I was born blind in my right eye and losing my other eye terrifies me since I already have bad vision in the left as well, but I would gladly break my own glasses or take my own eye out if I treated anyone I cared about the way Laura did, especially when they were going through something hard.

    In the first story Lily shouldn't have been kicked out . While it isn't okay to just throw away someone's lenses like that , Laura was also messing with Lilly and got absolutely no repercussions but a simple "cut it out" . At 15 and 20 they should both be (somewhat) mature , so the parent should've had them talk it out and resolve their problems from there . All you're doing by kicking lily out is showing that you prefer Laura over her and can eventually lead to some sibling hatred .

She was telling her sister that it was her fault they broke up and that if he wanted to end the relationship for a prettier girl then she wouldn’t blame him. Sounds pretty emotionally abusive to me. We also have to keep in mind that she’s 15 years old. Of course she’s gonna be dramatic. It’s probably one of her first breakups and she doesn’t fully understand how to deal with it. But going in and telling her that it was her fault is never gonna help. I completely understand why she broke her glasses. She wanted revenge and like the OP said, she felt awful for doing it. But sending her away because her OLDER sister of FIVE YEARS is scared of her for breaking her glasses isn’t how you deal with that.
