      Dunno if you're joking or not, but it actually IS 'armor'... the reason for these little jackets is to protect the top of the handle from being damaged if you miss a swing.

    Really glad to see someone wearing a respirator mask. I told my neighbor that he should have his daughter wear one when they do the wood working projects. He said he had no idea a respirator was to protect your health but rather to keep oneself from contaminating whatever their working on. Some people are that stupid

    • @GentlemanMudkip
      @GentlemanMudkip 5 років тому +1

      I would say most wood working projects it's not entirely necessary. But for metal working and anything with chemicals, definitely. Too many cases of people getting iron poisoning and such from a lack of care when it comes to grinding and etching. Hopefully your neighbor has started to at the least watch out for his daughter in this case.

      @bcummings2187 5 років тому +6

      You have a point .....but ......if the piece when first made was hardened and tempered properly it should have the same temper throughout. If anything the face may be a little work hardened. Additionally you cant really tell by the cut he made but if he went slow enough and cooled it in cold water every once in a while (may have been edited) the temper I doubt changed. If no color appeared in the piece while cutting ....blue ...yellow.......the temper should be fine. Last .......its a hammer and quite thick.......it will be fine.

    • @mr.lootybutthole
      @mr.lootybutthole 5 років тому +1

      @@bcummings2187 untrue a hammer is never fully hardened through. The center has to be elastic enough so it won't break. By cutting the strike face off you compromise the structure, making the hammer quite useless.

RC ? ......if that ? .....I consider 60 - 65 RC to be a decent hardness......so cutting the face off I doubt compromised the temper of the face......Also the temper of the face would have at least been uniform throughout at an Inch of it .......your lucky he cut off .150........Last but not least .....how is it "useless" ? .....I bet I can drive a nail or break a stone with a chisel with that hammer.

      @pharrellraven6401 5 років тому

      I don't think it would have really mattered in this case, since he was also doing a decent amount of reshaping, so it would have been a waste anyhow. Even without the grinding he did, that rust would have come off anyway as he reshaped it. Lol. But this is just my own opinion. Have a nice day.
