Product Details
Upgrade your power window harness for better power delivery to the window motors for modern day speed and reliability. The heavy-duty harness draws power directly from the battery compared to the original wiring that draws its power from the window switch. Harness has separate relays for up and down functions on both front doors. Comes complete with everything needed to splice into the truck's wiring and works with factory window switches. Installation instructions included.

Yeah my windows on my k5 take 30 min. To roll up lol replcing motors and wiring thanks for the video . I have been ordering everything for the restore I'm doing on my k5 from LMC great parts
The right one at least goes down 3 times as fast now, and with new rubbers all around it will get faster as the rubber gets broken in, this is a great first step before doing a window motor and/or replacing the regulator. This is how the windows should have been wired from the factory to start so it's a great thing to install to keep lights from dimming when u try to roll both down at once while at idle lol
Now that the rubbers are broken the window works amazing left and right Functions great I am very happy with it.
I bought the kit months ago for my K5. I was going to install them before winter because slow windows suck more in the cold, but I’m going to do it when I’m putting everything back together after paint now. It definitely seems like a worthwhile upgrade.
I did something similar to my 84 GMC sq body in the late 90’s . I ran 2- 8 gauge phoenix gold wires into each door and had the relays mounted behind the glove box . I ran 24 gauge from the switches to the relays , this way no high current ever ran through the switches. Btw I tossed the factory harness and basically started from scratch . I had to use the parts off the harness that go to the switches though .
I had a power window roll up module from alpine hooked up to their alarm . The guy at the glass shop said those were the fastest moving PW he’s ever seen in a sq body lol .
From memory I think I ran a new 8 gauge wire to a fuse at the battery also . When you take the factory harness out you’ll see why it fails . All the wires are wrapped with tape, making it stiff and hard to bend when you open and close the doors .
I never taped my new harness up , and ran a piece of wire loom that fit inside the factory rubber boot . This way the wires did not fight each other when you opened and closed the door . I’m sure it wouldn’t fail in my lifetime with my design
That's some awesome information. Thank you. Thank you for watching my video. Also appreciate it.
Am I the only one who didn't notice much of a difference?
Trust me it is a lot faster
Drivers side at the end of the video took 5 secs to go down half way and 7 sec before he released the button to go up fully. I've no doubt it helped as the passenger side going down before the upgrade was 12 secs going down half way and 6 secs going up. Now if the 2 yr old post was trying to say it wasn't cutting roll up/down times in half like modern day cars, I'd have to agree, but math is math and time is time here, so it did actually help speed it up BUT not to the point I'd buy that kit. I need more research on the product. Great video and very appreciative for the content here!!!!
I am surprised those motors didn't burn up (or anything else as the relayes fix it right up
Hey, was putting the next generation steering wheel on a problem?
I was going to do the same thing on my 85 Suburban.
No the steering wheel work perfectly.
@@JCustomFab thanks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I'm going to get one and put it on.
Wiring question. Why do you need two relays for each window? I feel like I’m missing something simple. Thanks!
Yes you need 2 relays 1 for the up and one for the down
What was wired into the battery? You showed the install and wire run through firewall, But what about wires into battery?
Skip to 3:37 if you want to pass all of the jibber jabber.
Yep a couple more volts when it is running would be even better ! Nice upgrade, do you think they will speed up more as the seals wear in ?
Yes I will definitely speed up once the seals wear in Just as gonna take some time.
Thanks . I have same problem in a k5 1979 . Slow I out new rubber and very slow no going up . Only down . So I thought was the motor has to be change. ? So is only the cables ?
changing the cables made It substantially faster and overtime now that the rubber's have broken it works really great.
What power windows switches do you guys recommend? Dorman, Standard, etc? Some work in one direction but not another. I've had bad luck with them. Oh and nice truck and install!
To be honest I bought them all and they are pretty much identical most of them are crap lol
Honestly the best luck I've had with either the gm square body truck power window switches or the gm gbody switches is factory spares from the junkyard, most of the replacement ones have caused me more problems than good ones I got from either gbody gm cars or like blazers, Jimmy's and suburbans or 80's square body Silverado and sierra trucks in the junkyard.. and I've bought and burnt up dorman standard, two brands from eBay I've never heard of in my opinion compared to decent working factory switches they were junk..
How long are the battery wires? I want to install these on a suburban so wires will need to be a lot longer
Hey man,I have an 88 suburban that is having somewhat similar issues with every window except the driver door. I can't even operate the passenger door window unless I'm pressing BOTH switches at the same time. Would you happen to know what the issue could be?
This relay kit is a waste of money. I had a slow window on passenger side but lightning fast on driver side. Installed this kit LMC today and now my driver window is half as fast as it was and passenger side works so poorly now that the window will not go up on its own. The motors and regulators are new.
I'm sorry. This wasn't worth your money. But I found out on some other trucks, if I put brand new rubber or the alignment isn't right in the channel that it tends to have a few problems, if that helps you at all and if it is brand new rubber, a little bit of silicone spray helps out a lot.
Did you pull the fuse out of the original power supply or did you still have that power running to the window harness. I haven't seen anyone mention the additional power supply...
You leave that fuse because that's what controls the power swich to the relay.
There should actually be a fuse inline from the battery on each hot wire. The original hot wire at the fuse box actually doesn't slways have a fuse. With the relay setup, the old hot wire only acts as the trigger lead to power the coil in the relays which is low power.
We’re could I buy those door panels
If you're interested all ask my Upholstery guy.
I got no issues with driver's side only the passenger...Wonder what to do
It sounds like you could have a bad motor
@@JCustomFab both motors were replaced.last year
Too bad they don’t make any for suburbans and crew cabs
You can use this exact same kit for your suburban or your 4 door square body you just order an additional kit for the doors.
@@JCustomFab do you have a wiring diagram for the four doors? Contacted LMC and they said they only had kits and diagrams for two doors.
@@PatrickMcColley All you'll need is a test light and See what wire rolls the window up and what wire rolls the window down.
They still go down slow
No they go up-and-down at a good speed not slow anymore.
Trust me it may look slow but it was a lot faster than it was.
With a running and fully charged battery night and day difference seen a few videos on this... And some say it compares to how fast the gmt400 ones are....i at first was oh.... great because mine are slow but always work, but it is a 265k mile farm truck since new .lol
Ive been an aircraft mechanic for 19 years. You never solder connections in high vibration vehicles. Cars, planes, boats. You crimp. Crimp is way stronger than solder and not susceptible to heat. Save the solder for your Radio Shack electronic board. Those crimps in that kit are pure junk.
Thanks for the step by step instructions...NOT!
