I must be the weird one. I keep building my kitchen in the cellar so I can have 2 fires and whatever storage vessels I need open. I use the alt key to look around as I pull mats with multiple containers open. I embed crates with fuel in the wall behind the cooking fires with one or more ovens in the same wall. That way food items aren't exposed to shorter decay times until they're on the cookfire.
That's not weird; it's optimal play. I just prefer the aesthetic of having my kitchen not be in the basement (where IRL I'd have to worry a lot more about smoke and heat management).
I was watching a video the other day from an archer who says that arrows in video game do not fly realistically: at the sort of ranges that pertain they should fly very nearly flat, there's not enough time for them to drop off, so you should be able to aim just about at the target and hit rather than having to aim high every time. I am in the middle of my first VS winter and I was woefully unprepared. I did hardly any hunting or farming, relying on berries for most of my sustenance, so food is short. I have some pies and I'm working on some stew, and there's some fish nearby if they haven't frozen over, but I'm cold all of the time. Still having a blast, though, building my mad paths in the middle of nowhere so that I can run from my starter home to my chosen new home: at some point I need to start building that which is going to be fun ‼
Yeah, I've watched a lot of archery videos lately (and have shot a bow in the past). Even a mediocre bow can reasonably send an arrow 100 yards with decent accuracy, and that's even assuming someone with noodle arms like me is shooting it. That range only goes up with higher draw weights (assuming you can pull it). Maybe our short range is because we're making our bows with really terrible materials, and we string them with too much slack? XD
