I have a GS mini myself. Absolutely phenomenal guitar. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an acoustic guitar to start on, travel with or simply to play on the couch or around a campfire.
I’ve bought 2 cheap guitars. The action is too high on both. They are hard to play and I learned that the hard way. That’s one reason I don’t play a lot anymore. They both helped me to learn my chords and get a feel for guitar and helped me along with my ukulele to build up calluses on my fingers. Bought both online. Now, my husband and I have said I have to go to a store to buy the next, and play the guitar at least 5 different times to make sure it’s what I want. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April 2024. We’ve been on a rollercoaster ride since then and I haven’t had the time to go to a music store. So I’ll keep practicing my chords and learning different songs and hopefully one day I’ll have the time and get over my shyness of playing around others so I can find a guitar that I can really enjoy. Thanks for the tips and all your encouragement. You are a blessing Matt.
This is so true. When I truly started making progress, was when I bought a used Taylor at a pawn shop. The action was way lower than the cheap acoustics I had purchased so my fingers did not hurt as much and the chords were way easier to fret. ❤
So true. I was learning on a Lyon by Washburn that I got at a tag sale for 50 bucks. It is nice , but I bought my first real nice guitar in the spring. It’s a Used acoustic electric Texan inspired epiphone. It was $350 and I think it’s an all solid body guitar. Nothing damaged, no scratches , It has the medium strings on it and it projects so much sound even without it being plugged in. I’ve seen some UA-cam vids on my guitar being played and it’s awesome. It’s stage worthy stuff and I love it. I Always keep it clean , in the case after it’s played and humidipaks in the sound hole and behind the neck.
He he i agree! I bought my first $25 dollar pine box, Then i went to our music store, bought a Great Oscar Schmidt Lady's guitar, and i just Love it, fits me well and Sounds Great, also played it at the Store❤ my Guitar
In my honest opinion... as an OTR trucker i play one in the truck and a jasmine s35-u is one of the best guitars to start on. They hold a tune and they are fairly cheap ($200-ish). I have a johnny cash martin now and a few others, but always go back to my jasmine, to learn new songs before playing songs on my other guitars.
Bought several on Facebook marketplace that you can play before you buy. My Ibanez I got for $300 for it and a large electric amp and gear that is worth at least $800 .
@@CountrySongTeacher I got a bigger one a while ago. I'm looking at the Ovation now because guitars are so thick and are hard to look over. I just get the feeling they're out of my price range, but we'll see. Thank you for the video!
People aren’t going to want to spend a lot of money on a guitar if they aren’t going to stick with it. That’s why people get a lower end guitar to start out with. Spending a lot of money on your first guitar is crazy anyway.

Good find!
Walk into a store and ask “show me a left handed guitar. 😂😂😂 I could only find one. 😂😂😂
that's my middle son!
Great video. I purchased a small guitar and it's sitting collecting dust because it sounds "tinny".
Very cool!
Gotta find you a new one!
