    Good idea. Students need to focus on their studies instead of TikTok and Instagram reels.

      Good idea but completely and utterly unenforceable. Additionally, teachers can no longer count on parents to be allies. Parents today believe their little angels can do no wrong and will always side with their kid against the teacher and the school. That's why, today, a teacher isn't permitted to fail a student without input from the kid's parents. The kids know that there are no consequences for their behavior so they do whatever they want, secure in the knowledge that Mommy and/or Daddy will fix it for them or let them off the hook. There is zero accountability in schools nowadays. The inmates run the asylum.

    I remember when I was in school my class size was about the same as what they are saying now. When it came time for exams at end of year we were required to leave our bags at the front of the class and only items used for exams on the desk. why not do this with cell phones although when I was in school my parents never got me a cell phone. In case of emergencies our parents had to contact the office or the office would have to contact them. Things are so laxy dazy nowadays.

    whoever did the PR for the province should’ve worded this differently. “banning vaping” makes it sound like vaping was allowed even though it clearly wasn’t. should’ve just said they were implementing more measures to prevent kids from bending the rules to vape.

    Class sizes have been huge for the last 40 plus years....and its always the same stories, different, year, different decade, large class sizes, infrastructure cannot keep up, healthcare is crumbling, taxes are too high, yet no one ever learns to correct these issues and its always the same garbage! Cellphones should go in a box by the front door of the classroom....and then at the end of class, grab your phone on your way out....if there is an emergency, guess what parents had to call the office and actually speak to a person and have the child paged over the PA system to go to the office. Simple. Done. Imagine that!!! Case Closed.

    Class sizes have also been the same size for 30 years. I had 30 kids in every grade during elementary school and we had 1 teacher. Classes literally have a teacher, an EA, an ECE, helpers etc..

    • @PatrickQuintin
      @PatrickQuintin 17 днів тому +3

      30 years ago a teacher didn't have to go to war against parents because they were usually on the same side. Today, parents let their kids get away without any consequences for their behavior. And if a teacher gets in the way, the parent supports the kid's side against the teacher. If parents refuse to help their kids' teachers wield authority and hold their kids accountable for their behavior, the game is lost before the bell rings.

    Classes need to be reduced. I was in classes of 30 and there was no problem. So reducing class sizes is a pathetic excuse. 1 hour of class is nothing. If a student cannot handle 1 hour of classes then these same kids will fail in Uni and college and later in life. These kids need to grow up as well as their parents. Stop babying the kids. Let them grow up. Some kids today are spoiled and brats from poor parenting. Life isn’t fair but if you are determined you can get through anything. So grow a backbone, toughen your skin and be more responsible for your actions. There is a life lesson for you.

    I remember when I was in school, we used the public library to look for books to do a research project. Kids these days have everything they need literally at their fingertips and it's not good for them.
    Maybe I'm being old fashioned but technology has stolen childhood away from today's youth. The good old days of playing outside is a history lesson in its own.

    Yeah kids need to learn to manage their cell phone use. There are jobs in their future where using a cell phone is very restricted or indeed not allowed. In my job our phones are to be off and stowed away from us. Driving a GO bus. And they need to learn how to let it go, resist the urge to check for any notifications. All part of their education now.

    I’m so sick of hearing about these class sizes. I just looked at my school pictures from the 1960s when I was in public school and there was 32 kids to 34 kids in each of my class pictures every year. We just need to get rid of the teachers union and start making these overpaid underachievers do their jobs.

    • @midnightrambler7716

      Yep I started Kindergarten in 1965 and that class had 47 kids that I just counted from my photos (not counting ones that might have been absent from illness or otherwise on photo day). Now there was a teacher and her young assistant (prob an intern type teacher) to corral us all. And looking at all my pics from grades 1 through 8, the classes averaged roughly 31 to 33 students and those were all with one teacher!

    • @barcelonachair6487
      @barcelonachair6487 11 днів тому

      No, we need more parents to start parenting their kids. Kids had more disciple in decades past and when there was a child with behavioural/social/educational issues it was a family problem. My Mom was a teacher back in the '60s and she said parents used to listen to her when there was a problem. There was only one incident In her whole experience where the parents thought like you, but otherwise parents were accountable for their kids. Now parents blame everyone in the world but their own parenting and their own children's behaviour.

      @@midnightrambler7716 Do you remember your kindergarten class? Or just the picture? Were you kids more behaved? Did you have kids with screaming and yelling at the teachers? Probably not because that was not the behavioural standard for kids back then. I was a kid in the 70s and my class was really chill and there was a lot of us too. In grade one there was only one boy who really acted out. We were generations who respected the word NO, because we heard it a lot.

      @@barcelonachair6487I actually do remember snippets of it, which is surprising because it is almost 60 years ago! 😳 Finger painting and doing corny stuff like the Hokey Pokey dance etc. I do remember we only went a half day then and we each had to bring a towel to lie down on, on the floor on for about 10 min. The modern equivalent would be a “time out” or “chill out” period I guess as kids tend to be hyper and short attention spans at that age. I do not recall kids ever lipping off to the teachers in kindergarten or all through grade school though. Didn’t exist then, that I saw anyway. I have sympathy for modern day teachers.

      @@midnightrambler7716 Sounds like my kindergarten days too! Great days and you are right kids were not flipping teachers the bird or being mouthy, it was just unheard of, (for me it was) 45 years ago. Do you remember a book called, "All I need to learn I learned in Kindergarten?," from a few decades ago but it surmised the kindness and goodness of what our character can built upon in those days. I think if teachers are busy trying to pick up the slack of what the parents are not doing they are missing what could be learned in those early years.

    • @midnightrambler7716
      @midnightrambler7716 17 днів тому

      @@silvertone1One small problem…cell phone jammers are illegal under the FCC in the US and Radiocommunications Act Sections 4, 9 and 10 in Canada. So if anyone is using them in any of those places you mentioned, they’re doing it illegally. Faraday cage or the like is passive signal interference and doesn’t interfere with radio wave signals other than in the area contained. I am not 100% sure of the legal hoops required or other hurdles like all the bitching from today’s woke helicopter parents that would ensue as far as the practicality of doing this. But it stands way more chance of being legal than cell jammers at present.
