  • We are taking a guided tour of Ephesus, an ancient city in Türkiye's Central Aegean region, outside of Kuşadası. Its excavated remains reflect centuries of history, from classical Greece to the Roman Empire, when it was the Mediterranean’s main commercial hub, to the spread of Christianity. We walk through the paved streets that wind past squares, baths, and monumental ruins.
Ephesus is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, regarded as the second-biggest city of the Roman Empire and the most important trading hub of the Mediterranean where trade occurred between the East and West.
We visit the highlights of this ancient site including:
The Library of Celsus - The third largest library in the ancient world.
Stadium - First built in the Hellenistic period, the stadium has a seating capacity could hold 24,000 and was used for entertainment and event functions.
Temple of Hadrian - The Temple of Hadrian is one of the best-preserved structures and was built before 138 A.D. for Emperor Hadrian’s visit.
Roman Baths - These baths included pools with heating technology from a high-tech network of clay pipes, and latrines that served as the city's social area, where people would spend time relaxing and discussing politics, philosophy, and other important affairs.

I literally paused the video and looked up information about every stone, symbol and place the tour guide and you said. This makes me wish I had taken a class in Greek Mythology or Roman Empire.

Wow you are a good student! 💫 these tours are so educational, I was trying to capture the guide’s commentary as much as possible. There’s so many interesting details.

@@RunTheAtlas Thanks you and I think you are really good at surmising and describing the context of places, people and things in your videos. Reading / studying about the context of a historical topic then actually visiting it is awe inspiring to me. Even if its big, small, far away, or something next door.
