Currently typing on a half broken z flip 3 it's junk
s21 has better zoom quality and looks more sharp but the zflip 3's camera isn't bad at all! it's cool how it's comparable to the s21 😍

Z Flip 3 will never match S21 on Zoom as it doesn't have the Zoom lens still I was pretty impressed overall they've done a good job. That battery size is the biggest stumbling block.

All the people crapping on the Zflip and Zfold cameras dont realize all the other Samsung cameras defult to 12mp unless you shoot in pro mode to get the full MP count. Keep up the good work.

Great video and very interesting comparison 👍🏻 From my experience from the fold2 i have i got pretty quickly fed up with novelty of being able to fold a phone and i don't quite see the big benefit of the flip phone either. In the end of the day when novelty wears off i personally prefer a phone that takes as good photos as possible , that is durable and easy and quick to handle. For me I'd go for the s21 out of these two.

Hey Daniel, new to your channel. Thanks for all the time you put into this video. (I love the close up circles for better comparison) .. I held the Flip 3 for the first time ever at the Samsung Experience Store and I was *very much liking the fold and just how usable the folded camera setup could be. I thought the two main cameras (wide and ultra wide) were the exact same lenses as the S21 lenses. Any thoughts from your use on why the Flip 3 pictures and video clarity are visible less than the S21? I mean they are both using the Snapdragon 888 and the same lenses.. I don't get why the quality is different. I have the S21 now and use the camera all-the-time. I absolutely hate the size of the S21 for my day to day - it sticks out of every pocket. I would love the compact Flip... But that camera difference though. :-|
the z flip3 is actually using older hardware (same as flip 5g) than the s21 which is why the quality is not quite as good as s21 although it's not too bad overall.

I’m sure for super casual use, it would be fine. Or barely just enough to make it to the end of the day. Since I do comparisons, the camera does take a good chunk of power.
Hopefully one UI 4 will give great battery optimizations
Great comparison. I’m not an expert at all, but love taking photos with my usually new phone. My assessment before I have watch yours- the S21 takes sharper photos hands down. Has some nicer tones as well. The video is quite comparable though, but I can see a little stutter on the flip but otherwise good.
Not really buying the flip for max performance, but it would have been nice if it delivered.

Galaxy S21 photos and videos are amazing! It's insane to reach this level. But this year the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is really interesting too, the photo / video quality is not as good as the S21 but still really good, I think it will be really a question of utility for this one.

How was the battery on all day use?
Great video Daniel...I was halfway to placing my order for the Zflip3, but this video showed me how washed out the pictures look and also the battery draining so fast means it wouldn't last a full day without a recharge at some point. Seriously though this phone looks amazing and is some seriously genuine amazing tech, I'll get a fold one day but not just yet

I have the s21 ultra would you advice me to switching to flip 3 , considering i am really excited about the fliping thing , small display functionality and also the look but worry about the battery can it get through out the day with descent use ? Thanks
From the ultra you would def notice the battery difference. I don’t think it’s worth to switch if you need to use your phone for the whole day

Hard to say, they are a bit different. I prefer to vlog and shoot on the flip. But the S21 does have a better quality image most of the time.
interesting to see that z flip 3 camera quality is not as bad as i thought would be. not as great as s21 but the result still looking good. especially those evening/night time pictures, i like z flip 3 results more than the s21. thank you!

Having a Samsung phone has always meant you're being different from everyone else because everyone has an IPhone. I've always been a believer in having something different from everyone else. I really wanted to get the Fold 3 because I know I wouldn't see anyone else with it. But now after watching the camera comparison, I don't think I'll be getting it! Still an awesome phone though!

I have had the first Zflip non 5g for nearly 2 years now. Even tho i broke my screen fold leaving it on a heater about 2 months ago.(still perfectly usable rarely annoying)
I absolutely love this phone i doubt ill swap too any other design. I love having my pocket back, not worring about crushing it in my pocket and just how incredibly handy bein able too fold your can be. Especially in conjunction with the watch you can set your phone anywhere without tripod and peer through the screen on your watch. Allowing for stellar photos and even lil things like a second set of eyes when back up your truck too your trailer. Moving equipment you name it. Always having a tripod is handy.
Also just like too note not having too have your phone in a case is glorious heck even having your phone folded slightly Allowing a air gap beside your face when your talking extended periods is super nice.

This may be a stupid question… but when you’re using the flip 3 back camera to film yourself, do you have it unfolded? Will the frame only become square shaped if you’re using the tiny screen as view finder?
Yeah I have the phone unfolded and yes it will only be a square video/pic if it’s recorded unfolded with using the front cover screen only
Other than the bright light conditions and zoom, the flip does wayyyy better than I thought. I'm sure the fold is similar as well!

Hi, it's interesting you mentioned about the battery life. Do you think the 15w charging capabilities of thr the flip 3 is a deal breaker? And do you think, based on your experience, the flip camera performance will improve with future updates?
I think it's pretty decent for charging. If you are in a rush, it might be too slow. But at that point, I would just bring along a battery pack. They might do little fixes with the camera but I dont think it will be too drastic.

I just pre-ordered it for 800 euro thanks to a 300 euro trade-in for my Mi 9SE. I'm a little worried that the 9SE's cameras are better, but I guess it will be similar overall. I never use the telephoto anyway. And there's no fricking camera bump on the flip, how cool is that? Only Nokia and maybe Sony have some models without a camera bump. That has been bothering me since my Galaxy S2 days lol.
I'm using oppo reno. Want upgrade to Samsung. Which one did u suggest? S21 or flip? I'm okay with battery, just worried about camera quality

This is the review I'm looking for. Z flip is convinience for vlog, but quality of s21 is better. It's really hard to make decision. Should I wait Samsung improve quality for next generation? But I love the design of z flip 3.

What an amazing review! My S10 PLus fell cracked - half the screen is now black. You can't really see these devices in high street stores as they only display DUMMIES. This was a great chance for me to actually see the differences in Camera and just when I was almost convinced with the FLIP - THe battery issue took over. No thanks I'd rather have a flat Boring Mobile that is reliable than a cute flip one that goes dead in 4 hours! Thanks a million!

Hi Daniel, as someone who watches ayyy lot of UA-cam, how is this phone for this? I am scared of the aspect ratio, will there be a lot of letter boxing for UA-cam?
If you view it in “original” then the side letterbox is similar to other phones. Many a bit more than usual. But I don’t really notice it. Zoom to fill does crop in a bit too much for me.

Yeah the stabilization setting is turned on in the phone. I didn’t do any post stabilization.

Thx for video. S21 clearly is the winner here when it comes to picture quality. The only reason to consider the z3 is using main camera for selfie or vlog.

The Z Flip 3 still has a small camera sensor so the quality still is not there for video especially in dark areas and night video as well, the new Pixel 6 should be a game changer with a much bigger sensor, pixels is not the answer to phones but sensor size is what they should all be going for.

The biggest thing I noticed is the image stabilization is much better on the S21. Flip is more shakey.
The battery and the zoom on the flip was a deal breaker for me. I've zoomed in on the s21 x100 and can see the moon 🌙 but I really want to be able to flip my phone 😔 Hopefully the flip 4 is coming soon and helps alot

The majority here saying that the S21 has better camera, but for me the pictures of the Flip 3 look beter! In video they are similar.
Are you comparing with the Exynos 2100 of the S21 or the 888? Concerned about battery life on Flip 3..seems pretty mediocre.
Plus the overheating definitely is a killer.
Both are snapdragon. Yeah I gotta do more comparisons to get a better feel for the flip

I'm in the same boat with Note 20 Ultra 5G. I'm interested to see how Flip 3 does close up shots of curved surfaces.
I take a lot wine bottle label pics and Note 20 fudges them up a lot.

I ordered the flip, used the trade in as well. Samsung gave $150 towards the accessories so I chose watch 4 and a case. Should be getting it by the 8th of September. Now you can go with a black model that will come on the 27th but the color I chose will arrive by the 8th.
Rip I just bought the flip by trading in my Samsung a70 which has a 32 megapixel at the rear, but the whole compatiblity with the flip I love. And with photos,,,, guess i could always use my husbands iPhone 11 lol
I feel like the flips camera is slightly more washed out, hopefully this is a software fix!

I like them both, I'm conflicted with the camera quality and the battery life of the 2 phones cause I really would like something that will be good for future concerts and of course with longer battery life. What would you choose? the Z flip 3 5G or S21 Ultra 5G?
For that use I would go for the s21 ultra. From this comparison, the images looks better and def better battery life
