America The Beautiful

I’ve always loved the Ray Charles recording of America The Beautiful. This tune started as a poem originally titled “Pikes Peak” written by Katherine Lee Bates in 1893. Music that was originally written for a church hymn by Samual Ward was eventually combined with Bates’ lyrics and titled “America The Beautiful” in 1910.
