- If you're reinforcing the rear end on your E36, we highly recommend removing your gas tank to avoid any possible chance of a fire. It's never a good idea welding near a metal container full of flammable fuel!

I'm actually trying to do this now but I can't seem to get the blue evap line connector off. How is this supposed to be done?

Hello Garagstic! Can please confirm what the year and model of the e36 this was? It appears to be an early model car obd1 car and I’m trying to reference a couple houses and routing of them in this short video clip so I can guesstimate how much and what size fuel tubing I should I purchase to replace all the rubber lines that has to do with the gas tank to the starting point of the hard lines.
Before i lower my gas tank on my 94 m3 I wanted to make sure I have enough hose and also the various sizes. I only have about 3feet of the 8mm(5/16) I.D. fuel hose at the moment. Do you know if it’s all one size on my model and year m3? Over the last 12 years of owning over 8 of these cars I’ve never dug this deep into refreshing and restoring any of my previously own e36s but this one I’m working on is a keeper and I’d like to have a piece of mind especially since I smell fuel from time to time after giving her the beans lol if you know what I mean 😁
Do I also need any of the 6mm(1/4”) fuel hose for the tank area if I’m trying to replace all the hoses ? And if so how many feet would you say is required to do what I’m after ?
I only ask since the current fuel hose I’m purchasing which is the (gates barricade fuel injection hose MPI, it’s rated for bio-diesels , meth, e @225psi) is not cheap and I would prefer to have just only a foot extra of each size since I’ve already replace the engine bay hoses. I don’t like having excess rubber lingering because I’m limited on storage space and not only that because it will be old for the next project …

Our E36 is a 1992, 325i non-M model. As far as fuel line sizes go, I'm unsure of the exact specs but I would check realoem.com and refer to the diagrams on there to determine which fuel line size/lengths you will need.
Realoem is where we go to refer to OEM parts and fitment so we hope this resource helps! Good luck with your restoration and let us know if you have any other questions.

I’m still surprised at how many people don’t know about that site and they call themselves bmw owners haha 😆 but ya I was just curious based on your personal years of experience. On real oem it doesn’t always cover every question ya know but I’m just going to go ahead and order both 6 and 8mm fuel hoses for the rear tank area. I just don’t like having extra parts lying around now I’m so confused on space it sucks
