I sailed aboard a University of North Carolina research ship years ago and the cook barbecued on deck for us. It was awesome! He cooked up some pork and fresh fish for us. 15 years ago and I still smile.
That sounds amazing! Fresh fish and pork on deck must have tasted incredible-bet that memory feels like yesterday! What was the most memorable part of that trip for you? Any wild stories from the research ship?
05:02 - The whole crew in survival suits jumping on the skiff is both hilarious and nerve-wracking 😅. Does anyone else feel like this is straight out of a B-movie action scene? Honestly, these guys are insane-just for the Super Bowl!
Its a Whaler, it'll survive anything. 13' Boston Whaler super sports are probably the most indestructible boat ever made, and the staple of every water kid's childhood, mine included.
You can ride on top or capsized best boat ever! (The 12ft Sunfish comes in second! The Basics of Boating!) The old commercial where the guy saws the boat in two...I'm currently 162miles from the ocean, I grew up 2miles from the beach on Long Island...DC sucks! Can't even swim here because of brain eating bacteria. 😮
They only wear rain suits on deck, and usually the decks are awash...lion tamer never let's the lion scare him, outwardly! (My first thought too when I saw the rope belt!)
Wrong kind of thumbnail for what it was !😡😡😡. I’m extremely happy the crew is all safe ! Not what I was expecting for abandoning ship ! I’ll skip these from now on
If you look at the way they are wearing those survival suits, if they ended up in the water the suits would do them no good whatsoever. They might as well not have even bothered putting them on. That is either a training, or a discipline issue. Either way, it does not speak well of the captain to have allowed that to happen. If they ever have to use them for real, I hope from the captain oin down they are a little smarter and wear them properly.
As said in jaws, we need a bigger boat. Get rid of the skiff trade up to rhib. I get having a good time, but if one person falls over a wave flips the skiff, people will die. The skiff is too shallow draft for ocean that's a lake boat. Very dumb idea to do that. Montie is right, this is stupid. And Captain Keith knows better it's called ORM Operational Risk Management the risk out weighed watching a Superbowl.
That's not just a 'skiff' that's a 13' Boston Whaler. Those things are anything but 'lake boats.' Go watch some of the bar crossings in Florida of the kids dodging breaking waves coming into inlets in 13 Whalers, you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.

I was an active duty coast guard and I remember when we would get fish calls and catch cook and clean . It's the only way to eat seafood
Sounds fun!

Oh my God I am cracking up that's funny as all hell go Seahawks
Is the reason the door wouldn’t open is because the crab in the top right corner was jamming it with his claw? Lol
And the Seahawks went on to lose the game in the cruelest way! Hopefully the crew had a great time anyway!
