“We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one.” - Confucius
In this occasion, Naval explains us when and how did his second live began --- It has to do with a deep realization, that there is nothing out there that is gonna make you happy. Real happiness and success is internal. Besides, we will see how the real source for happiness is self-knowledge. Maybe that's why Socrates wisely said "The unexamined life is not worth living".
    Enjoy!

“We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one.” - Confucius
Naval's second live started from the realization that Happiness is Internal. This set him on a path to work on his internal self.
    - All real Success is internal.
    - The more worldly success -- The more your ego rises (taking you further away from knowing yourself) --...
    * The more fearful you are of losing it all
    * The more you care What other people think
    * The deeper the self-image of who you think you are.
    - Happiness comes from Peace. Peace comes from understanding yourself.
    (e.g./
    * understand your reactions. Are they coming from attachment? Is there self-inflicted suffering?
    * Understand your desires.
"To everything that happens, I say Yes."
    • Stop Judging. The more you judge -- the more disconnected you are from reality -- the more you'll suffer.
    • Analyze your desires and reactions carefully.
    - Happiness is the absence of suffering.
    - Practical tools to be Happier:
    • Meditation
    • Be constantly in awareness mode.
    • Be positive
    • Get more sunlight
    • Tell your friends you are a Happy person. (that will force you to be Happy from the Human Consistency Bias)
    • Drop Caffeine
    • Work out everyday
    - Happiness is skill you can develop & a choice you can make.

Listening to you was the first time I didn't feel alone or crazy. Thank you for giving back to those at different places in our process. It's helped me in ways I couldn't possibly express.

Naval.. it’s curios I stumbled upon the podcast where you were explaining to Joe Rogan the meaning of happiness and the pursuit. Finally I said, someone who can put my deepest feelings into words, my journey and finally my absolute happiness. How I came about it in life and how Unknowingly using my inner compás to navigate. I’m so glad to myself for listening to my inner voice and using common intellect to veer away from or face reality in a more strategic manner, that at the end helped me step into my deep desire for life how I saw fit.

Naval is one of my favorite people to listen to when it comes to this topic. I did a review of the book The Almanack Of Naval Ravikant on my Channel and mentioned that it is my most highlighted book in my Kindle library. He really gets the keys to wealth and happiness. Thanks for sharing.

Man, Id really love it if you could give key takeaways and notes for all your videos.
As you see the podcast revolution is here but people tend to forget what they hear. If we could find some way to drill the concepts into their brains, itd be a gamechanger

    Can someone explain please?
First he said. Know yourself. The less you know yourself the more you think you are what other people define you.
Later on he says. Tell all your friends you are happy. So you will have to life up to that image.
It’s a paradox in my eyes. The imagine of a happy person is self elected and brought into the minds of others by himself. It will help him achieve his goal to feel happy.
Mhh I think I got it while writing and overthinking at. Haha thanks for your help! :D

Interesting…however, how can you be happy if you have to work for 8 hours a day, trading your time for money? I feel naval is at a point where he can contemplate happiness in this context because he has achieved financial freedom.

      I am happy.
      I work 10 hours a day.
From 8.30 AM to 6.30 PM.
      Desk job
      Financial responsibility
      No paternal wealth
Have to buy my own house

You have no guarantee of living long enough to become ‘rich’ to then maybe become ‘happy’
A lot of people made free from work don’t become happy. The weight of utter freedom is too heavy for many (even for those that assume they are intelligent) because choices become even more endless than for one who must work through existence to survive.
When starting from scratch, it is better to pursue processes you can commit to and enjoy for the sake of them while getting to the end of life.. which literally could be tomorrow, a week away, a year or a few years. It’s always a few years because life is far shorter than we actually imagine. You then lived a life having enjoyed it.
‘Wealthy’ and ‘rich is happy’ is an illusion - don’t forget the economy is man made, our ideas of happiness have been given to us and they are not true or natural, hence why we are all miserable.. lots of successful and wealthy people, but still miserable as Naval himself just confirmed having got there. He’s gotten there and is teaching everyone that money doesn’t make you happy, but you don’t need to get to excess wealth to realise this. He was busy as he came from nothing, and got there to realise it isn’t what it’s made out to be. You can either learn from this early on and live the rest of your life content pursuing wisdom and knowledge, or you can get there yourself to realise it. Truly wise are those that get there without having to experience the mistake beforehand. Remove all of this complexity of modernisation as Naval teaches you to, you find a very natural existence. You still had to make effort to survive.. hunting, gathering, staying safe - the effort was far more difficult than it is today. What to simply show up somewhere for a few hours so that you can pay to exist peacefully within your home? There are those earning relentlessly in excess but then go home and are miserable. Big homes, nice cars, nice holidays, no happiness, no peace. The disposition isn’t pursued and corrected because humanity is brainwashed from young ages to begin with.
I’m not extremely wealthy, but I am in a privileged position to be given a lot of wealth when I turned 21. It didn’t change my happiness. Even working hard to make my own money didn’t make me happy, because the word happy itself is idiocy. You want peace, you want a life and a process of life you enjoy waking up to do every single day, because ultimately that’s your actual destination before you die. Not illusory goals, not illusory pleasures, not relationships with other humans also looking for something to be ‘happy’, it’s a disposition where you are detached. You are utterly and totally in acceptance for the game being what the game is and life being what life is. You don’t pull on life, you don’t resist on life. Even circumstances change around you, you are very calm and at peace, and henceforth very adaptable to joy and happiness at will and can remove suffering and sadness also at will. This entire life is wht your mind makes it out to be. Even if you make your external excess and beautiful, it’s meaningless if your mind cannot perceive existence peacefully or joyfully.

Makes no sense. We ARE ourselves and the knowing is instant. When I look at my hand I already know it’s my hand. Duh. When I decide to go get pizza I already know it’s me going to get pizza. Duh. When I see a lady and become attracted to her, I know that I like her. Duh. These fake gurus are full of sh💯t.
