Kevin Cromar, PhD, discusses the Health of the Air 2023

The American Thoracic Society has a long history of educating clinicians and the public on the adverse health effects of exposure to air pollution. For several years, the ATS, in collaboration with Marron Institute of Urban Management at NYU, has produced and published the Health of the Air Report, a scholarly manuscript supported by a public facing website that provides estimates of the avoidable adverse health effects caused by exposure to ozone and particulate matter pollution above both ATS recommended exposure standards and the EPA National Ambient Air Quality Standards. This report provides valuable information to the public, clinicians and policy makers about both national trends in air pollution and local air pollution conditions.
