I was stationed at Marine Barracks Nov 1972 - June 1976. Married a pretty little Señorita 44 years ago today, and our daughter was born in Rota a year later. We have been back many times and will visit again this summer to watch España win another World Cup, while drinking Cruz Campo and eating tapas in our favorite bars. BTW, my wife and I were married in the church featured in the opening scenes of this superb video. Great memories.
WOW, Great job. Rota was our home for 6 years. We loved it. Thank you for reminding us of how great it was. MSG Charlie Cramer, MTMC, U.S. Army. 1986 - 1992
Thanks for the video...I was actually able to see the house I lived in!!! I lived in Rota for 5 1/2 years....best years ever too. My son was born there and I would love to go back w/him and my daughter. Sure has been built up a lot. ¡Viva Rota, Andalucia y España! (VQ-2)
Muchas Gracias! My daughter was born here about, 30 years ago. We are having a Rota reunion this weekend with Navy friends and we will be watcing this wonderful video to reminisce and see how it has changed. Good camera work, thanks for sharing, it is appreciated!
Excellent video, just great. Rota was home for two wonderful years stationed at VQ-2 . My memories at Edificio Rotimar are still fresh in my mind. Muchisimas gracias.
Wow!! I can't believe it's been 50 years since dad was stationed there....we FINALLY got to put down roots as we would be there for 3 years..(1970-73)..not like other "tours" where we were only there 8-9 months....things are sooooooo different now....
Hi, my ship is moving to Spain. Can I use this footage to make a video to show what Rota looks like to my crew?. I won’t publish to UA-cam and I’ll do a bibliography for your channel. Thx - Anthony
Met the love of my life there in '81. I was unable to bring her back with me because she was a Filipino. They couldn't help, Spain wouldn't, U.S. said their hands were tied. Just trying to re connect. Her name is Catalina Y'Banez, went by "Rose" Please help thank you
