🌟We’re excited to share Rota’s incredible beach and its hidden gems with you! Come along as we reveal why this spot holds a special place in our hearts. Let us know your favorite beach in the comments!
Beautiful video. You can also walk inside the typical `patios´ in the old city and so fresh, full of plants. The smell of the Jazmin and `Dama de noche´ is amazing. I also miss the old Rota, La Forestal (after Virgen del Mar) when the beach and the town was exclusively for roteños and sevillanos. Thank you for your kind video.
@@livinlavidacosta maybe I’ll return for my retirement! It looks like a great place with beautiful beaches, history, culture and nightlife. I don’t remember it because I was too young. The weather and beaches are very similar to Southern California, only cheaper!
5 years ago it was super affordable, yes, but today Rota (not Roda) has double in price. A 4-bdrm piso (apt) was $140k € and today that same piso is $260k €. Food, drinks, restaurants and supermarkets is the same high cost, the difference is that you eat way less than in the US. The *big meal* is in the mid-day with small bites for breakfast and dinner. (Although with tourism and Americans, there are actual bacon and eggs type breakfasts at many of the bars (what they call casual dining restaurants). It is still my happy place and we visit yearly-ish, although we stay away from summer and do May or Sept for great weather and about 1/10th of the people. Christmas and semana Santa in Rota with the scent of the orange blossoms 😍 and all of the Andalucían towns and big cities are amazing❣️ Nice blog for a sky-high overview, although the history on the (*Fort 😉) castle is quite interesting for such a small town and worth the $3€ and hour of your day, they do them in English too, but get your tickets at the tourist office across town in the old public market area or online as you cannot just walk in, your must get a reservation.) Also, dining is incredible in Rota if you dig a bit deeper, even some gems in the *touristy area* but the gems are hidden. Also, dancing the Bachata and similar type dances are in "moda" (style) right now and even if you don't dance those, going and having some drinks and swaying to the music makes for an incredible evening. (From an Americana who's half and half, my dad Navy, mom's rotanian and they married in Iglesias de la o in 1961. I started visiting yearly once I could make my own money at 14 y/o, babysitting. Loved your history too!!) 👏 👏 Viva España 🇪🇸 💃 🥂 🍊 y gracias 🤗

Lovely city. I love it!!! I do enjoy all of your videos!!! I’m a US citizen born in Washington DC but grew up in Paraguay & Brazil and I just got my Spaniard Citizenship thanks to my Catalan Grandfather. (Ley de Memoria Democrática) so me and my Brazilian wife will be moving to Barcelona so I can continue working under the same IT company. I’d rather live in Costa Blanca or Costa del Sol. Que Dios los bendiga!!! Saluuuud!
We’re so glad you enjoyed the video! And congrats on gaining Spanish citizenship-that’s fantastic! Barcelona will be an incredible adventure, though Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol are definitely tempting options too! 😜

Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing those memories! 🤗It sounds like the old Rota holds a special place in your heart! 🥰
My mother from LA is 100% Spanish blood. My dad was 2nd in command of the Naval base in Rota. I lived there as a kid for 3 years in the early 60’s.
Growing up in Rota with such deep Spanish roots must have given you some amazing memories. 🙌Thanks for sharing that piece of your story with us! 🤗

@@philliplaplante8086 You're so right-Spain is way cheaper than California! Perfect plan! Beaches, culture, and great vibes-come on back! 🌞🙌

Howdy Santiago and Angela, Rota looks like a lovely beach town with a great patisserie 😋❤️
The pastries are a must-try (and the ice cream too!) 😋So happy you enjoyed the video! 🥰

That ice-cream shop was a bar called "The Suzi Bar" when I was stationed there from 73 through 77.
That's amazing! "The Suzi Bar" must have been quite the spot back then. Thanks for sharing your memories from your time in Rota! 😊
