The capacitors go on many older vehicles. Replacing the ECU is usually the fix. Dont waste tour time on Fuel Pumps or Regulators, replace the ECU or ECM.
@Mechanics101 This is a long shot, but hopefully you'll see this comment. I have a 94 honda accord also which cranked, but wouldn't start. I took the cover off the ecu, and the same capacitor was blown. Do you know why that capacitor would blow? I mean, is it a faulty ecu, or could an external electrical problem be the cause? My ecu was pretty damaged, but I managed to solder a new capacitor in temporarily just to see what would happen. It started and ran for about 10 seconds, and then it blew the capacitor again.
@@allornothingang yes, definitely was the capacitor. And part of the track was burnt. So i sent it off to a place that specialises in in repairing them.

I had a 1994 accord that somethimes won't start especially in the summer when interior was hot, the fuel pump was not priming I traced the fault down to the fuel relay which was located under the dashboard right at the top difficult to get to. I opened this relay up and found a bad solder joint inside, resoldered it then it was fine for many years. Another problem I had many years later that the engine cut out and won't start again until engine completely cool down then it was start and run for about 15 seconds then cutout again, I noticed there was no spark at the plugs so replaced the electronic ignitor module inside the distributor, worked fine no issues, So just to make sure I fitted the old one back in and problem returned after 15 seconds engine stalls so I was 100% sure it was the ignitor module. Just cost £82 for parts. A friend of mine had a 20 year old civic that died and won't start, he gave it to a garage to fix but they gave up on it. He told me about it and I said it could the ignitor module in the distributor. So we went the a breakers yard and pulled out a full distributor from another car Then I just removed the ignitor module over so that way I didn't upset the ignition timing and it started up first time! Even these mechanics were Impressed! Cost £35 for second hand parts.
@@mrshoney2624 Well when the day is hot it won't start and when I turn the switch which is new the fuel pump doesn't come on. When it does start the pump is strong and the car runs very well but if I shut it off sometimes it won't start again also some times it quits while driving as well then eventually it will crank after 15 minutes. I thought it maybe the ignition coil but then I saw a lot of folks say the ECU has a bad node or something like that with these models.
I had a question. I'm going through the same thing with my accord. But it sometimes work and sometimes doesn't. I was wondering if you ever changed your Coil inside the distributor cap or anything else you tried doing ?
I'm having the same problems as you with my wife's accord it will start sometimes an other times it dont. When she cranks it sometimes it will take 3 turns of the ignition an she has to press the gas at the same time. Then other times it will not do anything it acts like the battery is dead. Any suggestions would help?
I have this problem on my 96 Accord V6 and it is much worse in cold wet weather or if I haven't driven in 2+ days. No problems starting car after I've warmed the engine by driving a mile or more.
Many times I even had to jump start it with a car charger and then it would do just fine and allow me to run many errands and it would just start right back up. I suspect the fuel system problem. Today, after changing the rotor and distributor cap, it won't start at all and makes a hideous noise...and one of the belts has slipped a bit. Changing the spark plugs and their wires may or may not have helped, but at least it would still start after I changed those.

Having the same issue, but mine instead of just cranking it kind of turns but then loses power and wont start all the way!! Any idea on what could it be.
Same bro, mine cranks and then makes these poof sounds. When it DOES turn on, it feels a little sluggish until I step on the clutch and rev aggressively.
Can you tell me why my accord isn’t starting ,replace fuel pump ,temperature gauge ,the main relay wasn’t working so we hooked a flip switch to it and fuel pump turns on, but the car won’t turn on now , crank no start please someone help me is it the starter module?
I am having this same issue. Except when we press the gas pedal it will rev up, it just wont start. Did yours do that? Thanks for tip. Gonna check this first.
MANIAC MACHANIC did you check your timing belt i know it sounds strange but sometimes when that brakes it will give that issue.. lmk what other details you find
MANIAC MACHANIC try to borrow a similar one try starting it if its not the same ecu dont leave it on too long like i did on the video get the new ecu or a used one from ebay and you should be alright.
@Mechanics101 What components or electrical contacts did the water get into to cause this problem? Or did water get into the floor well where the computer was and cause corrosion? Thanks.
Okay so I have a 95 accord wagon 2.2l and mines is cranking as well without starting. But when I connect a paper clip in the plug to throw codes my d4 light flashes and it recently just started doing that. I tried replacing the ecu and it still cranked without starting. I hear the fuel pump in the rear once in accessory mode, took out the injectors and fuel comes through the rail. Recently replaced the distributor, wires and spark plugs. Also installed a new alternator and replaced the map sensor. Would anyone know what that could possibly be to cause the car not to start? Well if anyone else is having/or had the same problem.

You may have simply been able to swap out the burnt capacitor to get it running. The burnt board looks fine, as long as the leads are still good.

Did you get spark prior to replacing?
Did you change your main relay switch?
