You cannot either globalize everything nor nationalize everything. It seems very right to have globalized ecology and globalized economy but you can't have a globalized political system due to the fact that you have many countries with many different people. You cannot rule the world like a huge company and format everyone. In so doing you will kill differences, creativity, art, lifestyle etc. Weare not robots!

Reminded of Michael Parenti, an excerpt from his piece Mystery: How Wealth Creates Poverty, which highlights this very same dynamic under the auspices of global US empire and its continued "full spectrum domination" via currency hegemony and implicit omnipresent military threat: _"In their perpetual confusion, some liberal critics conclude that foreign aid and IMF and World Bank structural adjustments “do not work”; the end result is less self-sufficiency and more poverty for the recipient nations, they point out. Why then do the rich member states continue to fund the IMF and World Bank? Are their leaders just less intelligent than the critics who keep pointing out to them that their policies are having the opposite effect?_ _No, it is the critics who are stupid not the western leaders and investors who own so much of the world and enjoy such immense wealth and success. They pursue their aid and foreign loan programs because such programs do work. The question is, work for whom? Cui bono?_ _The purpose behind their investments, loans, and aid programs is not to uplift the masses in other countries. That is certainly not the business they are in. The purpose is to serve the interests of global capital accumulation, to take over the lands and local economies of Third World peoples, monopolize their markets, depress their wages, indenture their labor with enormous debts, privatize their public service sector, and prevent these nations from emerging as trade competitors by not allowing them a normal development._ _In these respects, investments, foreign loans, and structural adjustments work very well indeed._ _The real mystery is: why do some people find such an analysis to be so improbable, a “conspiratorial” imagining? Why are they skeptical that U.S. rulers knowingly and deliberately pursue such ruthless policies (suppress wages, rollback environmental protections, eliminate the public sector, cut human services) in the Third World? These rulers are pursuing much the same policies right here in our own country!_ _Isn’t it time that liberal critics stop thinking that the people who own so much of the world---and want to own it all---are “incompetent” or “misguided” or “failing to see the unintended consequences of their policies”? You are not being very smart when you think your enemies are not as smart as you. They know where their interests lie, and so should we."_

Constant revolutionizing of production, uninterrupted disturbance of all social conditions, everlasting uncertainty and agitation distinguish the bourgeois epoch from all earlier ones. All fixed, fast-frozen relations, with their train of ancient and venerable prejudices and opinions, are swept away, all new-formed ones become antiquated before they can ossify. And on that point, some Nietzsche to offer an explanation of how resentment both creates new moral systems of value but insulates these values subjectively as a passive coping mechanism for class domination, _"The slave revolt in morality begins when 'ressentiment' itself becomes creative and gives birth to values: the ressentiment of natures that are denied the true reaction, that of deeds, and compensate themselves with an imaginary revenge."_ Which is all to say, as that first guy once put it, _"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. I've never heard someone shill so hard for the Greater Israel Project. This guy preaches the power of people believing in a good story - and in his vision of global governance, it requires everyone to set aside their own stories to believe in one created by the powers that shouldn't be. Nationalism can solve global issues, because it's in the best interest of every nation to survive. Every nation can see what it needs to do to solve their own problems and I am sure most nations want to move in the direction of saving the planet. We don't need a NWO to tell us what story to believe in.
It seems to me that humans over time created communities that become ever larger. The question is, has this been to the betterment of those individuals in the larger communities? I think most people would agree that it has. It appears to me that the EU is a beginning that just might show the way to a better world for the human race.
"Nationalism can solve global issues because it's in the best interest of every nation to survive." Globalism isn't the death of nations, it's about the unity of humankind. "Every nation can see what it needs to do to solve their own problems-" Let me stop you right there, how many nations answer that problem with OTHER nations? Seeking help, or taking resources, or or or "And *I am sure most nations* want to move in the direction of saving the planet." This isn't true. Most politicians are only worried about themselves, their term, their agendas. They don't serve their population, they serve themselves and their minds. Having said this, I remember Harrari's TED talk where he said that human beings' extraordinary achievement is always achieved collectively not individually. That is the point!!! At a surface level, a lot of his ideas have merit BUT there are two incredibly important points unaccounted for: 1) Globalism has tremendously greater risks than rewards to the every day person if the people running the globalist show are corrupt 2) The human condition is flawed because of generational trauma. Until there is a transformation in how we approach and recondition trauma (Ex. Overcome greed, learn how to manage fear etc - which will never be perfect but we need to see massive change) then a human’s personal condition who is in charge will continue to infiltrate and influence public policy. We aren’t ready for big government that crushes the middle class until there is more healing in our world.
Why would corporates pay more if the same job could be done for less money if outsourced? It's capitalism to increase profits and reduce costs and globalisation is the next step to capitalism.
We arent ready for it for at least another 100,000 years. How long have humans been around now? We still have people running nations who sell body parts from political slaves for money. The main problem with his reasoning is that he too readily conflates global cooperation and global governance, so he will talk about an issue that requires cooperation, and then immediately concludes that this means we need a global government. The root of this mistake is in thinking that problems can only be solved by governments, and so a global problem needs global governance. This is despite how he actually goes on to talk about a basic problem with increased government power (28:41), which is that in his words, the political system "cannot do a lot of good, but can do a lot of harm" - for example it's easy for a gov to start a war, but difficult for it to reduce inequality. As hinted by the host's question, an alternative way to look at problem solving is to do it by science, technology, industriousness, invention etc - people coming together to solve problems and improve conditions, because people want to solve problems and improve conditions. Government is not a necessary ingredient here, and arguably just slows down and gets in the way of people who are trying to solve the problems. Further to the point of government very easily causing harm, but finding it difficult to do good, Harari gives a chilling response to Jonathan Haidt's question (at 26:00). Haidt asks why he thinks the global gov would be good, since we can look around the world and see that government corruption is the rule rather than the exception, and so why would we expect the global government to be like Denmark rather than Russia. Harari responds _"we don't have workable democratic models for government on a global scale, most likely it wouldn't look like Denmark_ ["like Denmark" meaning democratic and non-corrupt] _so maybe it would look more like ancient China, but we need to have the ability to force through difficult decisions on the global level"._ This sounds like a belief tailor-made for causing harm on a mass scale. Please note his use of the word _force_ together with "on the global level". Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to have a regime which he himself says/implies would probably be non-democratic and corrupt, with absolute power (as in ancient China) over everyone in the world, and the ability and will to use force to make people do what they want them to do. Just look at the recent history of China or Russia to see how many millions were essentially sentenced to death for the supposed greater good. The other main problem he has is that he doesn't seem to see how it is in the individual's self-interest to solve a problem shared by the group, despite repeatedly giving examples which go against this idea. 19:10 _"you don't get socialists denying climate change, but if you want to be a nationalist in the 21st century then you must deny the problem of climate change, because nationalism has no solution"._ This is a prime example of his faulty reasoning. It's like saying "Imagine you're on a sinking ship, and the only chance for survival is for everyone to work together to fix the ruptured hull. The person whose main priority is saving themselves and their family will deny that the ship is sinking because they can't fix the hole by themselves, and so they will do nothing". Of course this is absurd reasoning. *Above all else, it is the individual's self-interest which most strongly motivates them to cooperate* with the other individuals to solve the problem and fix the hole in the hull; likewise, it is in the self-interest of individual nations to work together to solve climate change. He then goes on to specifically say (52:40) how it is poorer nations like Ghana or Bangladesh who have the strongest incentives to solve a problem such as climate change, which seems to go against his idea that a nationalist attitude will result in denying climate change, but rather he clearly talks about solving global problems in terms of national self-interest. He further undermines his own point by talking about nuclear weapons (57:30). He says how in the mid-20th century many people thought there would be a nuclear holocaust, and in facing this problem, nations started to change their approach to politics and war; he even attributes this change as the main factor in reducing international violence and the great reduction in the number of people killed by wars nowadays. He neglects to mention how this was _not_ achieved by global governance, but rather by individual nations realising what was in their own self-interest, and then acting accordingly, whether that was collaborating with other nations or just generally being more peaceful. After all, what even is a "global problem" that he is talking so much about? A global problem is just a problem that affects everywhere. A "global problem" is just another way of saying a national problem for _every nation._ *And why wouldn't a nation want to solve a national problem?*
Listen to the part where he talks about the communities around the Yellow River. Also listen to his discussion about win-win (e.g. trade) vs. lose-lose (e.g. global warming) scenarios. "Individual nations realising what was in their own self-interest, and then acting accordingly, whether that was collaborating with other nations" "Global government" is simply the apparatus by which collaboration among many nations is achieved. Nobody is saying that individual national governments have to be erased. Think of the USA as a smaller example. There are 50 states, each with their own state government, but they are only able to cooperate effectively on defense and other big challenges because of the existence of a single federal government. Think of the "global government" as the federal government, and the individual countries as states. It works well for the USA, so what's the problem on a global scale?

A global government would be a very dangerous thing. You can't just say its necessary to solve some problems but ignore those it will create. Once you have just 1 governing body, you've completely lost the ability for self-correcting policies due to comparing and contrasting between different regions. That's why smaller government is good. It allows a kind of darwinian process to occur, where people can vote twice on what's preferable: first in an election and second with their feet. I seriously worry a global government will make disastrous decisions but be too cocky and closed minded to admit it.

This is true. However, judging by the flow of the conversation it was rather one sided. If you watch Joe Rogan's podcast let's say, you can appreciate a host that both let's his interviewee speak and be challenged when the topic is controversial. As the topic of "Nationalism vs. globalism" is inherently controversial this is of utmost importance. I guess there should be a whole series of videos to it that cover all the main issues. Including all the problems that we failed to fix so far and all the possible new problems from the fixes we have to provide. It´s not really as simple as comparing the two words Nationalism and Globalism.
This idea that the main political argument today is between globalism and nationalism is a misframing of the argument. No one has a problem with global trade, communication, or interactions. The problem with globalism is the actors in the globalist movements and the fact they wish to rule for their own sakes rather than the sake of the people of the globe. It's much like the problem with the EU. If the EU would work like the US, in the way the various states relate to the nation, I think the EU would not have the problems with acceptance it does today. The EU operates as a bureaucratic Oligarchy, not a democratic republic. The most clever question was raised by the woman from Ghana; "Isn't this just another justification for western nations to rule the world?". I have read Sapiens and think Harari is simplifying in order to create a sympathetic message. That nations just are imaginations, not reality are simply not true. Nations have built up institutions that ensures the welfare of its people. Most nations have some sort of social contracts which means that you contribute with tax and get something back. The more transparant and efficient these institutions are, the more sucsessfull will a nation be. This is not imaginations, it is reality! We need global regulations - I agree on that. But a global government will probably be an authoritarian government that either will develop to a dictatorship governed by multinational cooperations in constant wars with regional upraisings. Harari is a prophet, because he only use the sciense that is useful for him. He use very little social and political sciense and the vast amount of socialanthropological knowledge that is available to explain human social behaviour and draw conlusions for what is possible from this knowledge.
very true The past we humans created won’t leave us anytime soon We are bearing the consequences of times since we decided to stay silent about what’s happening around us
I enjoyed the interesting statistics by Harari at the beginning of the talk, but if 1914 should teach us something, than it is for sure at the very least: "never underestimate the stupidity and megalomania of unelected political leaders who are striving for creating big European empires". Nobody denies that we need global conversation and cooperation on several issues. But firstly, this cooperation needs then to occur really GLOBALLY, not continentally - to move political power to big regional entities like the EU is in fact counterproductive for global issues because it will lead to big power conflicts between the blocks of political and military power on a global scale. And secondly, even though there are global issues and their number might be increasing, the big bulk of the political decisions should ever more be decided in manageablly-sized political entities. Because huge global and continental political entities cannot be democratically controlled and concentrate way too much power and economic resources in the hands of very few. Huge political entities always end up sooner or later to become imperialistic dictatorships.
Boom. Simply put there is just about no way to unify the world. The biggest way would be among cultures, and even then there oils be massive superstates battling it out while crushing the weaker ones. Ultimately, we will end up with EUs all over the world, battling for supremacy.
The New World Order 🌎, which is what he's promoting, plans on reducing the world population by nearly 7 billion people and the elite few will control and enslave the remaining 500 million people. There goes all of those said problems you were talking about. This man is evil. Word.
On balance, I think it is. The amount of convenience it provides me is greater than the control it asserts over me. Now that's not to say that I don't think it doesn't have the potential for rampant authoritarianism (eg China's social credit system), or that we shouldn't fight against moves in that direction. But where we are now, technology (and particularly communications tech) is a net benefit to humanity, and those benefits are pretty equitably distributed within developed nations.

Limitations will not disappear with a globalist religion that want's to believe world can be run by solving things in global social structures. When supply runs low supply needs to be regulated and a global "no-borders" world is unable to do it efficiently. Without borders world will implode with global irresponsibility. Only borders can limit resources efficiently enough so that the most responsible will have most resources. If we let people who just breed most, have more resources, there will be no way of stopping irresponsible rise in global population. Onthe contrary, he is the kind of man whose colourful rhetoric caused many of the conflicts of the past. Globalists are using Orwell's 1984 as a template for how to control people. If we carry on surrendering national powers to global organisations, as Harari suggests, we will end up losing all of our freedoms in the name of protection. We are on a dangerous road towards a single, world government which would have a single, world army. With that amount of power why would they bother remain democratic? It's way too risky, and reversing the situation would be near impossible.

The “Character of God” ??? I’m grateful that “God” grew up a lot after damning Adam with “thorns and thistles” and Eve with “painful childbirth”, after regretting having made man and destroying all life (but the Ark), after raining fire and brimstone, commanding Moses to commit genocide and promising to ultimately destroy the Earth with fire-to purify it 😱
I'm not a proponent of political globalism and I'm not a proponent of nationalism. Why are the people in this video pretending that those two alternatives exhaust the logical space of alternatives?
It’s a shame Yuval didn’t engage with the point about CFCs in the question at 26:30. That is a recent example of how nation states can work together to solve an important global problem.
everything he said is within the accepted mainstream dogma that somehow the only form of globalisation is this current right wing neoliberal form, making nationalism the only alternative. he even made the ridiculous statement that left and right are no longer relevant. and of course with those assumptions he can't answer the question about inequality. and he can tell you that politicians have a limited ability to do good, but can't say it's largely because of corporate interests. automation is also a left/right issue in many ways. if automating work or making it easier leads to lower living standards for some, the problem is the economic system not the automation.
The problem with globalizing is that it is incapable of addressing the needs of the many, and the few. At a certain size all arguments dissolve into chaos, and the needs of the few are not given credence. You ask why the people suddenly give up on the idea of globalizing? Because they look at the results. People were fine with the idea till suddenly it started affecting their lives. For example California was once prized as one of the best places in the world to live, and now is commonly regarded as a festering pile of garbage where only the very rich or the very poor live. Or take Europe and the issue of mass migration dictated by the EU. The needs of the "many" were considered without regard to the impact of the few, and now the few have risen up and struck back in england, poland and many other countries.
This man wants to hack human minds. They want to have tracking capsules for medications. They want to monitor your biometrics. They want a social credit system like china. This talk is cheap, the cost is heavy.
He touched on the solution a few times, but never really elaborates on the concept. People are inspired by a narrative. It is the story and the values it represents that gives people a common purpose. Mythology has given us those meaningful stories in the past. When we develop a common narrative that encapsulates widely held principles we will have the mechanism for a common purpose in the future. The collectivist narrative and the individualist narrative are colliding for the purpose of combining them into a purposeful vision that pleases both ideals. We don't want totalitarianism. We don't want anarchy. We want a negotiated middle ground.
A maxim we need to learn: If it doesn't include everyone, it's not sustainable. Whatever we design for our new global villiage, it must account for everyone, 100%. Nobody gets left out.
this guy is already preaching the rise of a "useless class" by 2050. By this he means people who are no use to the elites as either "bullet stoppers" ( soldiers ) or worker drones. that is how the elite sees us. He completely ignores the fact that the majortiy of the world's population is already left behind. The problem is not coming, it is here already for the rest of the world. Now, automation is threatening the jobs of westerners, so he thinks he has got our attention. IMHO, humanity needs to stop killing each other and learn sustainable, healthy farmiong practices. We should be concentrating on feeding everybody, providing shelter for everybody, and cleaning up our planetary messes.
I love listening to Yuval, he helps me take positions quite easily, I carefully listen to everything he has to say and make sure I think the complete opposite.
Absolutely, He says he will speak of the future, then blames everyone on earth for not doing the same thing. He wants to tell us what he thinks is good for each of us. The larger the system, the harder to audit. Keep Governance Local.
@@gunner9936 i think we need a good system of communication between local and wider governances. The thing is, in the old days, what you did in the New York area in say 1230 ad, had little effect in Africa or Europe, but now things we do in one place can have HUGE impact on ppl living far away, so there does need to be some system of global communication and management as well as local

A national identity is an essential ingredient of national democracy. Without a national identity the Brexit referendum could not have taken place. An EU-wide referendum cannot possibly happen or be disguised as democracy because the EU is not (yet?) a nation state. That is why we have an unelected EU commission operating a system of neo-imperialism. It is not globalisation that prevents conflict but national democracy. No two national democracies have ever gone to war against each other but neoliberalism uses economic expansionism in the same way that the neo-imperialists did at the beginning of the last century. Democracy stands in the way of globalisation, hence the globalism v national democracy conflict of interest. It all points to the ultimate EU goal of a single-nation Europe. The EU would ultimately exist as a nation-state which completely destroys their argument against nationalism. The ultimate paradox of deception.
The EU Commission is appointed by the European Parliament, and its makeup reflects the outcome of democratic elections. The EU is a voluntary association of nations co-operating in a limited range of policy areas.

You cannot either globalize everything nor nationalize everything. It seems very right to have globalized ecology and globalized economy but you can't have a globalized political system due to the fact that you have many countries with many different people. Reminded of Michael Parenti, an excerpt from his piece Mystery: How Wealth Creates Poverty, which highlights this very same dynamic under the auspices of global US empire and its continued "full spectrum domination" via currency hegemony and implicit omnipresent military threat:
_"In their perpetual confusion, some liberal critics conclude that foreign aid and IMF and World Bank structural adjustments “do not work”; the end result is less self-sufficiency and more poverty for the recipient nations, they point out. Why then do the rich member states continue to fund the IMF and World Bank? Are their leaders just less intelligent than the critics who keep pointing out to them that their policies are having the opposite effect?_
_No, it is the critics who are stupid not the western leaders and investors who own so much of the world and enjoy such immense wealth and success. They pursue their aid and foreign loan programs because such programs do work. The question is, work for whom? Cui bono?_
_The purpose behind their investments, loans, and aid programs is not to uplift the masses in other countries. That is certainly not the business they are in. The purpose is to serve the interests of global capital accumulation, to take over the lands and local economies of Third World peoples, monopolize their markets, depress their wages, indenture their labor with enormous debts, privatize their public service sector, and prevent these nations from emerging as trade competitors by not allowing them a normal development._
_In these respects, investments, foreign loans, and structural adjustments work very well indeed._
_The real mystery is: why do some people find such an analysis to be so improbable, a “conspiratorial” imagining? Why are they skeptical that U.S. rulers knowingly and deliberately pursue such ruthless policies (suppress wages, rollback environmental protections, eliminate the public sector, cut human services) in the Third World? These rulers are pursuing much the same policies right here in our own country!_
_Isn’t it time that liberal critics stop thinking that the people who own so much of the world---and want to own it all---are “incompetent” or “misguided” or “failing to see the unintended consequences of their policies”? You are not being very smart when you think your enemies are not as smart as you. They know where their interests lie, and so should we."_
@@debclarke1746 _"The bourgeoisie cannot exist without constantly revolutionizing the instruments of production, and thereby the relations of production, and with them the whole relations of society. Conservation of the old modes of production in unaltered form, was, on the contrary, the first condition of existence for all earlier industrial classes. All that is solid melts into air, all that is holy is profaned, and man is at last compelled to face with sober senses his real conditions of life, and his relations with his kind."_ - some guy (Marx to not be pointlessly facetious), a bit optimistic at the end we wouldn't just choose individual delusion while the planet literally burns around us...
And on that point, some Nietzsche to offer an explanation of how resentment both creates new moral systems of value but insulates these values subjectively as a passive coping mechanism for class domination,
_"The slave revolt in morality begins when 'ressentiment' itself becomes creative and gives birth to values: the ressentiment of natures that are denied the true reaction, that of deeds, and compensate themselves with an imaginary revenge."_
Which is all to say, as that first guy once put it,
_"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it."_

At a surface level, a lot of his ideas have merit BUT there are two incredibly important points unaccounted for:
1) Globalism has tremendously greater risks than rewards to the every day person if the people running the globalist show are corrupt
2) The human condition is flawed because of generational trauma.

19:10 _"you don't get socialists denying climate change, but if you want to be a nationalist in the 21st century then you must deny the problem of climate change, because nationalism has no solution"._
This is a prime example of his faulty reasoning.
A "global problem" is just another way of saying a national problem for _every nation._
*And why wouldn't a nation want to solve a national problem?*
Listen to the part where he talks about the communities around the Yellow River. Also listen to his discussion about win-win (e.g. trade) vs. lose-lose (e.g. global warming) scenarios.
"Individual nations realising what was in their own self-interest, and then acting accordingly, whether that was collaborating with other nations"
"Global government" is simply the apparatus by which collaboration among many nations is achieved.
The root of his problem that his conclusion is too simple and solution is too complicated and there are no room left in between.
What gets people together is a common enemy. A nice UFO alien scare would do the job! (see the original The Day the Earth Stood Still - remains the best alien film at every level - gorgeous sets, interesting, tense, moral script, and close enough to reality to count.

Thank You TED from Bangladesh.

The problem is we have put unethical self serving people predominantly in positions of power and leadership. The solution is to put selfless (service to others) people in the major roles of leadership. Those sort of people would be open to transparency and the truth. If this could be done on both a global and local level I think it would be quite remarkable what humanity could achieve.
Your suggestion is absolutely spot on! Now go and find these "selfless" ones and convince them to take the job.

I would absolutely devote myself to serving humanity by making the practical changes needed for a better world.
I agree with your observation of a massive part of the problem of functioning democracies in the last 5 years.. The tricky bit is how to change the operating systems of democracies so that it makes sense to the smart humble servant competent types to pursue this work. For now, it makes no sense to them and we keep getting very marginal types stepping up. They play a game long enough to get their hands on the power reigns and then make a terrible mess we all have to live with.
"The solution is to put selfless (service to others) people in the major roles of leadership."
Don't you get the memo? Politic is the art of making your self interest into the public interest. In other words, "Selfless people" in practice means politicians.
I cannot believe I legit just watched an hour long interview 🤣
The thing about exploring these topics is, the more you dig deeper, the more you realize that you understand almost nothing about almost everything.
very true
The past we humans created won’t leave us anytime soon
We are bearing the consequences of times since we decided to stay silent about what’s happening around us
I enjoyed the interesting statistics by Harari at the beginning of the talk, but if 1914 should teach us something, than it is for sure at the very least: "never underestimate the stupidity and megalomania of unelected political leaders who are striving for creating big European empires".
Go Maxim here here, agreed wholeheartedly.
The appetite for raw power is never satisfied. BI-LATERAL talks may be more cumbersome; but, they're also far safer!
Word.

"liberate ourselves from suffering" .....that is real progress...thank you for posting
Liberation from suffering is a futile and dangerous idea. An eternal solution cannot be to perpetually and selflessly sedate everyone's need to avoid suffering without any responsibility. Suffering is part and parcel of existing in a limited world. Borders should be shut completely, those who breed should be responsible for the land they breed upon.
Sounds like a rationalization for eugenics to me...

Why are the people in this video pretending that those two alternatives exhaust the logical space of alternatives?
Laughing Tree
i guess you missed the kalergi plan.

the eu insists on hyper migration from the muslim world for their order out of chaos agenda.
CJTaylor 87 it doesn’t really look like that
CJTaylor 87 yeah yeah and Merkel is a reptil.
Educate yourselves on the kalergi plan instead of ridiculing those more knowledgeable than yourselves
It’s a shame Yuval didn’t engage with the point about CFCs in the question at 26:30. That is a recent example of how nation states can work together to solve an important global problem.
Excellent speech, Harari! Thank you so much, I got inspired by you so much. Opened my mind.
everything he said is within the accepted mainstream dogma that somehow the only form of globalisation is this current right wing neoliberal form, making nationalism the only alternative. he even made the ridiculous statement that left and right are no longer relevant. and of course with those assumptions he can't answer the question about inequality. and he can tell you that politicians have a limited ability to do good, but can't say it's largely because of corporate interests. automation is also a left/right issue in many ways. if automating work or making it easier leads to lower living standards for some, the problem is the economic system not the automation.
Amazing that people exist that straight up support Evil.
Global power domination never been in they plans, relax pls
The guy is just postulating another communistic fervour, or "anti Trump" rhetoric. What good is that for the sake of philosopical discourse.
I admire calm attitude and listening abilities of the interviewer. This man is great.
This man wants to hack human minds. They want to have tracking capsules for medications. They want to monitor your biometrics. They want a social credit system like china. This talk is cheap, the cost is heavy.
Both of these books were excellent!
the last point about our internal ecology was worth watching the whole video. You earned my respect.
"It's not a right or left issue. It's a globalist vs nationalist issue."Mind blown.
The wanna to bring the GLOBAL RESET. He's a tiranic man
It's left or right. They are pushing social credit scores and global communism for the peons. The rich elites get to keep their stuff.
This guy Yuval is fantastic. Even though he's really left wing he throws out loads of facts and logic instead of just insulting the other side.
If you haven't already, you should read that book. It should be mandatory in school.
He's not left, he is centrist.
Centrist, just like Orwel
@@rhysowens2480 that’s exactly what I thought when I read it in 8th grade
Thats the left for you, maybe take a real look at it. The left has more facts and logic than the people who want to conserve the past.
Thanks for this
He touched on the solution a few times, but never really elaborates on the concept.
What if the middle ground means no stories at all?
@@southoceannthe narrative cannot be a vacuum
@@terminaltom1662 - "Sustainibility" and Malthus go hand in hand.
Amen
@@gunner9936 i think we need a good system of communication between local and wider governances. The thing is, in the old days, what you did in the New York area in say 1230 ad, had little effect in Africa or Europe, but now things we do in one place can have HUGE impact on ppl living far away, so there does need to be some system of global communication and management as well as local
7:39 the awkward smile of the host. Mr. Harari don't get scared of speaking about politics and the truth. One of the greatest minds 🙌 😅
Have fun owning nothing!
This video was nothing more then an example of the marketing of an idea with limited opposing dialog, NOT that of a truly open conversation. It was roughly 57 minutes spent in elaboration of this mans pitch for global governance. The present level of consolidated power has led us to this very point of environmental exploitation, warfare, and class division. Further consolidation of power is always offered up as the solution. This methodology is often referred to as the Hegelian Dialectic. Problem. Reaction. Solution.
That's not what I heard. Actually, he was simply stating the obvious fact that some problems, like global warming, require global solutions.
Have you read Marshall Berman
Wow, very thought-provoking conversation.
"If you really want to see reality, I would go through the door of suffering." Truth bomb right there! 👏
Suffering is a reality created by the elite. If you really want to see reality, go through the door after they murder nearly 7 billion people and enslave the remaining 500 million. The New World Order and this is his plan to eliminate suffering. How's that for reality?
when Jonathan Haidt asks a question from Yuval Noah Harari like it is so normal in everyday life :) :)
Nationalism is the way
Exactly. Intelligence, Consciousness are one of the few dimension/way to perceive this complicated world. Sad part is that we look through only one lens viz mostly intellect.
I trust a fart after a steady diet of taco bell more than I trust this guy.
I love you Yuval Noah
really mind blowing conversation. I praise fro bottom of my heart. Thank you

Buddha said 1000s of years ago that the ultimate aim of humanity is the cessation of suffering.
suffering of who? because cessation of suffering for humans increasingly means more suffering for the other species, the nature and the planet. Buddha could have been more elaborate..
More than 2000 years
@@GraduateMonkey fulfilment of desires requires suffering of other animals and in some cases other humans. Buddha talks about cessation of suffering. Desires are one of the causes of suffering and to be free of suffering you must be free from desires.

The EU is a voluntary association of nations co-operating in a limited range of policy areas.

past iterations of eu have been ok but they creep slowly towards control with eu army whilst the germans wage economic warfare on countries like Greece. Aditionally they denude development in africa.
The EU has a limited range of competences passed to it by its member states. The main success of European institutions has probably been the bedding down of fundamental rights, since adherance to the European Convention on Human Rights, and democracy, is a pre-requisite for membership of the EU. The existence of the EU helped promote democracy is Spain, Portugal, Greece and former Eastern Bloc countries, and some in ex-Yugoslavia.
Which regulations in particular do you have a problem with?? Common product safety requirements enhance trade, surely that's a win win. Anyway, they are all arrived at democratically, sometimes after years of exhaustive debate. Large markets require some standards: it's the same in the US.
There are no requirements of bananas. There is just a classification system so wholesalers and retailers know what they are buying.
SADHGURU and YUVAL NOAH HARARI should be interviewed together!!! Please make this happen.
"Fake news has been around for thousands of years. Just think of the Bible."
Nice one!
@Susie X Thanks. It shouldn't be allowed for people to use a "God"s purposes" rationale to do wrong- such as break the 10 commandments- Theft, Murder of defenders, False Witness about it, Covetousness- that's four- to get their stuff. From the book of Joshua & Canaan to the Original Americans' homelands to the present Holy Land, people who want to lift other people up to higher behavior or beliefs or lifestyle should stay lawful, buy the land, and teach by example, not thieve from or murder them for "being low".
Ralph Philbrook so do you have a better system of morals or is it simply your own personal preference?

The closing comment was directed at who? The Globalists or the Populists - all the populists I know communicate well across the spectrum
Globalists are the extreme populists. Their narrative is not sustainable combined with capitalism, free ttade and migration. It is the handbook for accelerated global disaster.

It is not globalist vs populist. It is corporatist vs populist, the populist exist all over the world. You need to grow up and get in the game of the connected world. Corporatist exploitation is on a global level and if global populist needs to unite. If corporations can't work for the global populist than they shouldn't work be allowed to work at all.
What a wise man among so many toxic bluffers pretending to be "public intellectuals" quoting Nietzsche from here and Jung from there all the while tickling the left or the right to stay in business.
