I have them in my yard this year!!! I read that they are attracted to clove oil so I have been putting out gauze pads with a few drops of clove oil mixed with water for about a month now. Today, I counted 12 bees! They are so beautiful and docile. We can get very close to watch without disturbing or irritating them. I’m the process of building a nesting box for them too!!! 💚💚💚
I have them nesting in my yard, Hillsborough County, FL. They've been finding their way inside my home & were attracted to my vanilla scented Glade Plug In. I can't find the hole to plug it, but threw away the Plug In bc one may have been killed trying to ingest the oil (it died w/ its proboscis on outside of body). I have only seen the males of the Euglossa dilemma. So far in 5-6 month span I've seen maybe 20. I'm fascinated w/ these bees.
Just saw one around my tomato and pepper plants today in Oldsmar Florida - the north part of Tampa Bay. It was solo, moving fast between flowers. And green of course. I'm not 100% sure it wasn't a sweat bee. Not sure if they are here in Florida also. And I didn't know what to look for until now when trying to figure out what it was online. So I can't say if it had the long "tongue" or not. If it is the orchid bee they are definitely moving north.
I have seen one twice in this just past Dec. in Tarpon Springs. Not sure if it was the same bee or if there is more than one. No orchids around but a lot of orange honeysuckle.
I'm afraid I don't know. As I recall the literature didn't specifically name the types of aromatics produced by the wood-decay fungi. When I get the chance I'll look it up & get back to you.

I would love to know where you got the plans for the nesting box. I would like to make one as well- we are in St. Pete.

I saw one this morning in Lee County, Florida.
We have one that has made a home in a Car Jack on our porch. -St. Pete near Tyrone mall
We need a sting test on these. Their stingers look like a velvet ants

Do u have more footage of Florida Green Orchid Bees. I happen to be a Orchid Bee keeper.
I accidently killed one today cuz I confused it with a blowfly
Does anyone know what aromatics they were collecting? Possibly vanillin from decaying wood?
