My nose changed and some musks now smell like old musty dishtowel. I had to declutter some perfumes I use to love. can't stand most of my husbands colognes and I bought them all
My husband loves all Victoria Secrets perfumes and lotions. Anything else, he’ll say is too strong for his liking.
So I enjoy during the day the fragrances I like and wear at night what he likes. Everybody gets happy! lol
This is truly what I call being considerate, and a way to truly enjoy your collection!❤
For me it's Dior's Poison. I remember when Poison was released in 1985. I was a teen and I LOVED it! Then I tried it again c. 2023, and I almost vomited. It changed. Hypnotic Poison used to be so much better too. {le sigh} Maybe your tonka one has been changed, too.

My mom has occassional melodramatic reactions to my fragrances where she starts coughing profusely or acts like she is going to throw up, but then again she is OCD, doesn't like to wear perfumes and is allergic to everything.
Poor guy! I think he had a bad day. Try it again some time and see if you get a similar reaction ❤
Insanity, they definitely won’t be discontinuing the line…they keep releasing new fragrances into the line and will soon add a peach one! I think that person was most likely fear mongering.
That is a beautiful perfume. There are a few things that could have caused this reaction: 1) your husband is coming down with something and his sense of smell is off/he's over sensitive right now to fragrances 2) your body chemistry might have been different - foods, hormones, medications, even our bath products can change the way a scent smells on our skin 3) you simply sprayed more than you usually do causing the scent to be more powerful than normal. Do not give up on that perfume. I'd put it away for a couple of weeks and then try it again. Some of my perfumes can vary a lot on my skin. Ex: Angel Muse. On some days, the fluffy chocolate hazelnut is divine. On other days, the astringent patchouli is more pronounced. I never know which version I'll get so I'll do a test in the morning before my shower to see how it is behaving.....

That’s exactly the same as my husband’s reaction (or non reaction as it were😄) to most of my fragrances. The only one he has absolutely HATED was Alien edp. He said (with an obvious look of distaste on his face), “What is that perfume??”😂 Oh well! He’s not fond of Idole og either but I rarely wear it-too strong and cloyingly sweet-too sweet even for me. Tonka is a note that’s grown on me some but I’m not a big fan of it. It just screams at me no matter what fragrances I’ve tried that contains it. He loves Bronze Goddess, Coco Mademoiselle and he loves my vintage Organza. I enjoy your honest and down to earth videos!
That’s how my husband is too. So annoying. What I wouldn’t give for him to just once tell me I smell really good. Or that he loves the perfume I’m wearing. That would be incredible.
It happens!! Something that once was a love can definitely become a hate! Literally a scrubber! And that one for me is Calvin Klein Eternity!!! I have to leave the room when someone is wearing that scent! It literally makes me want to vomit. Maybe give it one more chance, and go easy and the trigger. Lol
I also have love hate relationship with tonka imperiale. Not only bcz cycle of seasons but mood on that moment. There are times that i feel like im the most confident bossy scent. And there r days i feel like drunk old human being.
Its most beautiful during winter.
Maybe try it in the winter cooler months but outside at first 💜
Sometimes I think it’s the mood your senses are in. I have some perfumes that I may love but for some reason there are days I just can’t stand wearing them. It’s like our noses are just more sensitive on certain days than others. It’s a mystery.

hello Arlene, no worries at all. I test perfumes at home all the time and sometimes the perfume can be much overwhelming in home environment than outside. i also own tonka imperial btw and it is beautiful perfume. some perfumes can trigger discomfort when it is too close to bedtime or close to dinner. no matter how i love various scents, i can find them annoying on myself during any time of the day for various reasons. they can be too strong, i detect some synthetic ingredient or too powdery scents with empty stomach also create sickening combination. such moments can make me hate certain perfumes but i already learnt that i just tested them in bad time… also perfumes we know very well can become annoying/boring too and most likely we need a little break…
I was exhausted one day, and my favorite perfume almost made my stomach turn. It also happens when there's a major weather change. I don't know. I would try the perfume around him after some time with 1-2 sprays.
Any bad smells in my house get blamed on the cat. 😂
I’ve been noticing how different my perfumes smell in different environments. It’s especially noticeable on rainy days. Im thinking something about the enclosed room made it too intense for him on this occasion.
I know it varies by country but it seems to me that the arts and materials aren’t going anywhere. They have changed the lineup and have recently added to it I believe. I wouldn’t be surprised if they keep tweaking the product line though and maybe one of our favorites will get discontinued. I’ve been priced out for a long time and fortunately have not even smelled most of them. So I can’t grieve too much about what I’m missing.

When I got covid I couldn't stand perfume smells including my faves Chanel chance fraiche and eau Tendre!
I heard that Tonka Imperial and SDV were being discontinued but not the rumor about all of the Art and materials all being made as extraits.
Also for me is sometimes tonka is difficult 😅Hermes Citron Noir,I would leave the room😮😮😮
I remember layering Ebony Wood from Zara and SJP Stash and the moment I got in my friend's car he immediately made this awful face he insisted on grabbing some coffee from dunkin donuts to mask the smell 😂 I realized the scent was too strong and I felt bad for it 😅
Ps. Migraines give you not only visual hallucinations… but also olfactory ones also.

It could be just that you oversorayed it a little too much. 😂 I know for me, with most of my perfumes I don't like the smell if I spray more than 3x (I tend to be a light sprayer), otherwise they usually smell overwhelming for me.
Weird, also one of my faves 😊 as you know 😂 I always tell you 😅 maybe he had some cold and his sense of smell is a bit in troubles ?
If I'm not mistake, is still hot over there, isn't? I think maybe to him because the weather he smelled different, this already happened to me myself
I used recently my Jo Malone English pear and I didn't like as I used to.
No!!! Not Tonka Imperiale!!! Ok something is wrong with him. I suggest you get him to a specialist Dr of some kind. Maybe an ENT? Lol.
It sounds really serious! 😂. But seriously I adore that perfume. One of my absolute favorites. I would be SO sad if I had to stop wearing it. I’ve fortunately only had that happen a couple times. One was Followed, the other is Grand Soir. I actually put on the latter this morning after I got to work. And I’m hoping he won’t be able to smell it by the time I get home. He said it was super potent and made his head hurt.
They just released the patchouli one right? I hope they do not discontinue the line

I use a random number app befor useing my SOD max 6 for edt and max 3 for perfum. When I first started collecting I bought no. 5 used 6 sprays one day and people got up and move away from me. I've llearned
I noticed after the Covid i got in 2024, I started smelling perfumes that I love and all I could smell was URINE! I hope my nose gets back to normal.

I had a sample of divine le parfum from JPG, my husband begged me not to wear it around him again, he literly told me he got very nauseous of it, after I washed it off my wrists,he could still smell it and went outside

Maybe u just put too much on??? Just do one/two sprays if u are staying inside the house (especially if its already strong).....yeah i think if u had sprayed just once or twice abd he wasnt RIGHT THERE WHEN U SPRAYED IT
Mine hates all the perfumes , in his opinion all are just chemicals and smells artificial. That's why I only wear very discret scents . I like to respect his opinion and to consult him every time I need to buy a new one. I don t want him to run from me because of the smell. Don t be sad. Maybe he had a bad day or mood. It happens .
Men are mostly anosmic, mine will only comment if i wear very sweet, vanilla, or jasmin scents luckily i love those notes too.

Yeah I won't be buying anything if they discontinue just to re-release the entire line in a $600+ extrait version. Lol I've had Angelique Noire for 3 years now and I actually have no problem never buying again, especially since I sometimes get a cumin note I never got before in this third year of having it. Side-note: also what happened to your husband as the juice of Tonka Imperiale matured. He probably picked up on something that became stronger that wasn't obvious before. I'm also now prepared to strip down my collection to 5 if I really needed to, so not having to repurchase a fragrance is okay with me. Even better actually 😂
Tonka imperial is discounted Nd very difficult to find now and the new extrait is very nice but quite pricy
Has he had Covid in the past? My nose has never been the same. Also, the nighttime is not a good time to try fragrance for a lot of people. Fatigue, a full belly, stress - all can affect the sense of smell.
