If you watch a lot of combat footage, you will see troops unscrewing a cap on the front of a warhead before the rocket is fired. These caps prevent the warhead from detonating if its dropped.

Early on in the war they place a nail's sharp point facing the fuse of the rpg round and masking tape across to have a bigger surface area to push the nail into the fuse when dropped to the ground.
No, RPG warheads do not have to be launched in order to explode. The majority of warheads are detonated by a base-detonating piezoelectric fuze. If you watch a lot of combat footage, you will see troops unscrewing a cap on the front of a warhead before the rocket is fired. These caps prevent the warhead from detonating if its dropped.

After the loss of Avdeevka, the Ukrainian army is still failing to align the frontline. The ‘planned withdrawal’ from the city leads to the same bloody retreat from other settlements in the region. This second line of Ukrainian defense may become the last one, since there are no further heavily fortified defensive lines in the field areas to the west.
