Hello, hello, and welcome back to Age of Wonders 4! This was the first episode that I was able to incorporate your many comments, so thank you again for sharing all of your thoughts and feedback. Most of this episode was mustering towards our first accidental war, but we gained quite a lot of information about the surface thanks to our fellow Necromancers at 38:29. Of course, the climax was the sacking of Gloomhollow that began with a pre-emptive strike at 43:22 and ended with the denial of surrender and glorious siege at 1:04:28. At 1:18:05, the Shadow Elves embraced their future in Undeath -- thanks for watching! (:
Great to see the series getting more attention, you deserve it. I like how Iratus got spontaneously adopted into a big boy undead alliance while behaving like an unruly stray cat. Now to do as cats do - look fabulous, get pats on the head and an easy victory while still continuing to fuck around and refusing to find out.
Each of your episode summaries is better than the last, and I absolutely love it. Thanks for the kind words, it's been an overwhelming and heart warming experience. (:
As some else mentioned having underground kingdoms that have a nature aspect eventual get access to terraforming which makes settling underground way easier. As it stand i do think the maap gen needs to seed more fertile caverns
Nature is arguably the one affinity that you couldn't wiggle in to an Iratus roleplaying run, but that's good to know for the future! I probably won't do an underground start again, unless it gets revamped, but being able to terraform the underground makes it a more appealing possibility.
I think for an underground build nature lore of magic is almost mandatory due to terraforming option that work underground, I think shadow also have terraforming option late gamme but it's for snow and i'm not sure it works underground
Hmmm, that's a good suggestion! I'll still probably avoid an underground start until it gets revamped, but it could be a good way to nab resources from the Brutal AI.
Iratus would be proud. Loving this series. personally preferred spell force conquest of Eos. but that's probably cause im new to age of wonders. Really enjoying Iratus' conquest of this realm though
It's my life's goal to make Iratus proud! (: I'm biased because of my previous obsession with Age of Wonders 3 but I'll revisit Conquest of Eo if it gets a DLC/major update.
Now i will admit, i clicked this series mostly out of boredom and because the game caught my attention. But you are so enjoyable to watch mate (also always a joy to meet fellow enjoyers of hellsing ultimate abridged). I am invested to see where this goes :D
You can just vassalize cities, or release cities as vassals. This way you keep the ressources and get a part of their ressources. This would have been a much better choice than razing the city, because you don't have any razing abilities that make it worth it.
I imagine with Iratus getting isekaied and finding out about this world, while he prefers his own company, he finds he enjoys the change of pace, allying himself with another necromancer on his way to conquer this new world!
Great channel and let's play keep up the good work! Just a bit of advice on how to make the underground work first you need to get BASIC SEAFARING and TELEPORTER INFRASTRUCTURE. The underground has lots of rivers to help navigate it, the best thing to do would be to make a few more scouts and explore the place for potential outposts. The next thing to do would be to build teleporter improvements in every city and at the entrances to underworld build outposts with teleporter and wall upgrades. This should help with movement and exploration of the underground. The second thing to do is to look at your cities and make sure you have the right improvements on each tile and that they have the possibility to be next to a special provinces improvements. Take your second city surrounded by alot of quarrys, that's a great spot for a dark forge for gold and draft. Also the Temple wonder you have counts as a conduit with a research post bonus. So building a channeling tower + soulwell next to it will give adjacency bonuses. The last thing would be to put any special improvements that you can't get an adjacency bonus with, on the provinces where you can only build huts as it will still give better yields. Lastly if you find a better spot to build cities and don't have the city cap. It's best just to release the worst city as a vassal after building a teleporter and giving it any wonders you have cleared. This is great as the undesirable locations can be turned into resource farming vassals and transport hubs. This how I made the underground work with out playing a build with terraforming spells. It just takes a bit more planning but locking the other players out of the underground can be really powerful. Then when you're ready you can flood up to the over world destroy it or turtle up for a magic victory with ease. Good luck!!
Thanks for the underground tips! My Underground didn't seem to spawn with too much maneuverable water area, except near that fire forge Wonder place that I found. Unless those spiked water areas are traversable? By the time I could get Teleporter Provinces, the Brutal AI was ready to cast the Magic Victory spell. XD
Yes you can enter into the water with Spikes. It's looks like you can't but doesn't stop you. They basically act as canels through the underground. Also I figured out why you couldn't place the flesh camp where you wanted. If a province has any body of water in it, even a tiny bit you can't build special improvements. I don't know if this is a bug but it's won't work for me. Best of luck with the let's play!!!
Also forgot to say, I haven't tested it with artic yet but if cast a terraforming spell on the paths through the bedrock they become habitable. I have tested it with earth shatter from the tome of terramacy. It didn't destroy the bedrock but the path changed to Rocky so I could annex it.
@@tain1797 Welp, that's two absolutely horrible assumptions I've made this campaign. Lesson learned, I guess. XD That definitely seems like a bug, but thank you for letting me know! Thanks! I wish you luck for your campaigns as well.
Yeah, it is nutty. On any difficulty level, the AI opponents mysteriously aquire full gear sets for all their champions. Its not like you can just buy stuff, like in Planet fall.
It`s not that mysterious, AI is shit at keeping leaders alive, new leaders spawn with gear only to die at AI`s stupidity. You can actually do this meatgrinder yourself.
I haven't played an undead run yet so I didn't realize the no morale thing. Makes sense though. I was fully on board with the tome of revelry bauce it is stupid good on notmal troops. I did a feudal warlike goblinoids run. Huge into materium, order, and chaos. The basically constant perfect morale plus other buffs giving my troops like a 100%crit chance was so good. Went full army buffs too so all my stuff was doing 40%+ additional damage when coordinated and were near indestructible to boot. TL:DR Magic is fun but don't overlook the full physical run. Once the war engine gets going there is no stopping it.
I've slowly been realizing just how insane Morale is in AOW4; it's very different from AOW3 where Undead's lack of morale saved you from a lot of headaches.
That's a great question! Unfortunately, I don't know. The only thing I've seen them do is pillage province improvements and attack any wayward stack moving through their domain.
Here we gooo Iratus is here! I'm sure that this will episode will be epic! Thank you for the upload. Edit: I just got the game, I have a feeling that this will push me to enjoy the game more! :D
That's a grudgin'! It's a reference to Dwarves in the Warhammer fantasy universe. They write down every wrong against their people in the Great Book Of Grudges and, well, hold a grudge.
Is turnin' the entire race o' dwarves into undead a grudgin'??? Laddie, even askin' such a durned fool question is beggin fer a grudgin'! Although... it's kinda hard tae be feelin' such a way right now... I'm feelin' a mite peckish. Don't rightly know why, but I got an appetite fer brains all of a sudden... mmmm... brains.... braaaaainsssss.....

A recommendation. Just play the replay if you liked the results. You also learn new tactics.

You're right that it was better to forcibly vassalize them, but I was kind of just done with them after I accidentally declared war. XD

a true tragedy indeed.😢

You could say that this (AoW 4) gameplay was a time before Iratus became the Iratus that we all know and love (alternate timeline?)
It certainly seems that way, doesn't it?

does using the "adjust appeance" option on an undead hero allow you to get their face back? asking for a friend
It's me, I'm that friend, and the answer is no. :c
I went back to the auto-save and unchecked the box to keep Iratus beautiful.
Can Infestations do anything to the outpost itself?
I know they can't damage cities but not sure about outposts.
That's a great question! Unfortunately, I don't know. The only thing I've seen them do is pillage province improvements and attack any wayward stack moving through their domain.
