In today's metal dominated guitar scene, it is a privilege to have blues rock lessons like these for those who favor the old school. Marty my friend, keep em coming as long as you can!! Thanks!
thanks marty for the lesson .....it´s always a pleasure to learn mor from you.. and hope to see you playing near Eric Clapton ... we all your fans in all over the world vote for you everyday on crossroads...and hope you will win.. all the best my freind.
@Gondo117 im just learning guitar.i picked it up about a week ago.Blues is the reason i want to play electric guitar.I love to hear great blues licks!!!
Pretty soon you will be on that boat for a live lesson on the Carrebean! When you do, just does us a favor and sport the captains hat! :) Sweet lesson once again Marty!
Yea, now that's a boat. Been looking at a Tele just like that one and another thats older than dirt with lots of care worn mojo going for it. Might just get the newer one and put my own wear into it.
those 3 ntoes played over and over... sounds like the intervals in the, "sound of healing" from Zelda Majoras mask.... The funny thing about it, when that same tune was played in the game it had a serious floaty, mysterious, sad tone to it.... It's funny how changing the speed, putting a picture of a boat in the back and wearing a funny T-Shirt can make a sad type of lick sound... happy ish???
@prleLTD I don't intend on starting a metal vs blues debate. However, consider this, when you walk in a place like guitar center, what comprises 99% of what you hear? Kids playing metal, teens playing metal, even some adults playing metal. Sure metal is "blues inspired", but it is a far cry from the stuff Marty is showing here. If you are a metal fan, no hard feelings.
marty, i've seen this rolling technique a lot. i often find myself barring the couple strings involved in the lick instead of doing the roll. does that change the vibe or sound much in your opinion?

As usual, your light and upbeat style of teaching rubs off. I'm actually making progress just watching UA-cam. Thanks, Marty!!!
@mkocian17 it's in both the mixolydian mode and the major pentatonic, so those are two alternate flavors you can substitue the 7th with.
@kassar117 thanks a lot!!!
@prleLTD true dat but so is everything else too

Cool .. another lick for the bag ... oh wait ... that didn't quite sound right now did it... lol.
That's kinda confusing. Where does that major 6th come from? I though it's a blues scale in D minor.
